Product Rating Product Review Highly recommended. Allows me to use my Marshall plexi at any volume without losing tone. Many features, the addition of an effects loop being especially useful. Love this box. Expensive but worth it.

I’ve owned this and the ox

Product Review I prefer this over the ox. It sounds more like you’re in the room with the amp and less like a homogenous plug-in recording of the amp. The unique quality of each amp is more apparent. I guess the ox may be more desirable if you’re only recording. But the attenuator on it was hot garbage.

Product Review Man, this thing is amazing. Before now, you had to have a cabinet attached to your tube head and could barely crack it open without destroying your ears. Now, you can dime everything and play directly to your DAW with insane tone. And that is just the surface…

Product Review I'm a non-master volume, crank it up, and ride the volume knob kind of player. To me, that's the recipe for the best tone, but the obvious problem is that often it's just too loud. I used a resistive attenuator for over 20 years which worked pretty well, but if I wanted to maintain the tone I could only attenuate the volume from "way too loud" to just "loud". The Tube Amp Expender has totally changed that. I can get my amps down to bedroom volume, or go direct using the IR cabinet simulator feature, and it all sounds terrific. Add in the built-in effects and effects loop, and it replaces several pedals on my pedalboard. I really like the loop a lot because it allows you to apply effects on the entire amp sound (as opposed to just the preamp signal), which is ideal for certain kinds of effects. Also, it effectively adds an effects loop to my old Marshall which doesn't have one. I thought the Tube Amp Expander was shockingly expensive at first, but it has enabled me to get a lot more from my amps. So it's been totally worth it.

Does Not Color or Change Your Tone

Product Review Lots of cool features on this lil guy; can run effects loop directly through this Boss if you’re using an old Marshall or Fender amp with no loop. Great feature; has tons of other functions I’m still learning. However, the best thing about it is that it doesn’t color or change your amps tone. Pricey but well worth it if you’re serious about your sound.

Product Review The most important feature is how clean, clear, percussive, defined the reactive load section is. I use it with a 5150 III and all the chunky lows are there on channel 3. Channel 1 and 2 can go from clean funky with all the percussive attack to all kinds of rock. The Waza TAE doesn't even blink. The power amp is excellent but creates a bit of heat, which the load alone barely gets warm, but sounds good. You can use it without a cab so little heat since the power amp is then disabled. The software is easy to use and all the features and functions are there. It's been updated to store 32 user IRs as well. TDLR: If this came out 30 years ago music would be a lot different today. We are so lucky to live in these times as guitarists.

Product Review It's probably overkill on some of the features (it does a LOT), and it's definitely a bit pricy, but it does what it's supposed to do well and doesn't leave you wanting more from it. I'm not sure what I would change other than the size (it's not tiny) and the price.

Product Review I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and love it. Have used this as an attenuator for non-master volume amps as well as for recording and playing through headphones when my kids are in bed and I still want to play with that cranked AC30 or Plexi or blackface sound. There are a lot of more advanced features I am still learning about, but I love the different IRs and it is straightforward to add your own IRs (I added 2x12 alnico blues for the Vox). The UI is not my favorite, but it works well enough. Would also love to have two mics like the UA OX.

Product Review What can I say. I tried everything and I am so satisfied with this thing. My smiles are from ear to ear. I'm so happy I bought it and I can't wait to gig with it. I have amps ranging from Two Rock, Friedman, Diesel, /13, Marshall and Fender. This makes everyone happy. The sound guys smiling and I'm smiling cuz I got the sound I wanted. This thing delivers!! I just bought the Kemper Stage Profiler about 2 months ago and loved it until now... I'm in love!!!! Buy one, you won't regret it.

Product Review I did bought this to use it with my non master volume amps (EVH 5150III Stealth , Peavey 6505 + , Marshall Sv20 ).All I have to say this thing is beyond cool !! . It not only attenuate your 100 watts head . Also make my 20 watts head LOUDER!!! . Also it has fx on it ( Reverb , Delay , compressor , Eq . ) If you have a head with no fx loop, don’ t worry ; the Waza TAE Got you cover . You can even load your own impulse responses . It has many connections to use it in a studio or live environment . I have made some recordings with wonderful results . Did I mention it has a 100 watts power amp ??. The last thing I’m going to say is : Try it!! You wont regret it . It ‘s the best thing that happened to a tube amp!!

Product Review I own two of the Ua Ox and absolutely love them. So I went into this hesitantly. But the ease of use in setup and the ability to get rid of the attenuation and bypass the unit all together make this an invaluable tool.

Product Review This is by far the best musical purchase I have done, the Boss Waza tube expander it is indeed a game changer, now I can play my 50W amp without any complaint, not to mention I can record my tube amp directly into the DAW. Fantastic product, thanks AMS first class service, and thanks to Boss and Roland

Product Review I don't know how to say everything that I love about this without turning it into 5 pages. You can read what all it does but let me just tell you what I've used it for and love about it. First, I really love the added FX loop so that you can give ANY amp the loop if it doesn't have one! And even if they do, you can just use this and not have to switch cables every time you change amps. I change around a lot so it saves me TONS of time. I also really dig the built in FX. So much so that I'm trading some pedals away (towards an Orange PPC112, yay!). The EQ is great, I sometimes use it and my MXR Kerry King EQ together just to blend some different sounds. The IR options make it so versatile. I have used it a lot to boost my lower watt heads (Jim Root Terror, for example) up to a bigger sound. But the biggest thing is being able to hear my JCM 800 and 5150 Stealth cranked without the entire neighborhood hearing me. I bought it fairly blindly, which I'm usually against, but I don't know how I've lived without it. I sold my Kemper not too long ago and this gives me some of the conveniences back (headphone jack, out to mixer). Do yourself a favor and just do it. No need to even think it over!

Fantastic Product for recording and live attenuation

Product Review I've had this device for two weeks now and am selling my PS2 in favor of it (although the PS2's attenutation is just as good). I've used many attenuators over the years and this one is probably among the best. The variable loads help with the feel and reactance of your amp - there's nothing else with this option on the market. The attenuator works great, as well and has a smooth taper for volume. Unlike the OX or other attenuators, doesn't effect your sound as you reduce volume other than removing some speaker drive characteristics. The onboard effects have Boss standard serviceability in their sound and having a boost EQ is very useful. For live use they would do the trick but in the studio I'd opt for some plugins. I expected the IRs to be lackluster, but actually compare very favorably to other 3rd party IRs on the market and are pleasantly satisfying through headphones. If you're looking for a good tube amplifier silent recording solution with effects, routing options, and attenuation for live use... this is the best one on the market IMO. In fact, if you've got an older lower wattage amp, this can bring it up to band volume through a higher power speaker cab. Pricey, but with all those options - worth it!
