It definitely has a lot of features for the price
BUT
there is a learning curve on this one. Not very intuitive and clunky programming plus the manual leaves a few steps out that you have to find out on your own.
BUT
once you get it programmed it does well for the weekend warrior. Would not recommend it for pro DJs/bands doing large weddings or large corporate events but can do the job for small club scenes and bars.
Be sure to put it in a rack with lids - it's not exactly robust enough for lots of travel. Better for permanent installations.

I snagged this getting it confused with the Obey 4, which I previously had years ago. Obviously with the Obey 40, there's so much more to dive into, and you can program shows that are far more technical.
I love the MIDI in, which is primarily why I grabbed this. Running an SPD-SX and using that to trigger various scenes on the Obey40.
Money well spent! My only complaint is that the plastic buttons do feel like they cheapen the experience and I'm just hoping they'll hold up. So far, so good!

I’m new to the DMX light controller side of things. I used to just plug what few lights I had in and let them do there thing. Now I can control what my lights do right in my dj booth. People think that it awesome due to being able to pick what light I want or lights and make them do what I want. It will make ur dj set up do dope things at ur finger tips and the crowd will love it!

This is exactly what you see on the web page. Yes, having 8 sliders control 16 channels is inconvenent, but you knew what you're buying. I would like to have some programming examples for most popular lights such as 4bar.

The Obey 40 works great with my slim pars and 4bar lighting systems, Easy to pre-program scenes and chase sequences for gigs.
The Obey 40 is very dependable, haven't had any issues at all, just turn on and go with it.
Once you understand DMX and how to setup for your particualr lighting fixture, it is very easy to work with. Every lighting fixture is different as far as programming.
The best feature by far, it fits perfectly into a standard rack, I wouldn't change anything.
Very affordable for what this unit actually does for you.
