Product Review I always get compliments on the tone of my Gibson LC01. I play these strings almost exclusively at open mics. I try some thing else occasionally if the store is out but, always wind up going back to the EXP11s.

Product Review I've been experimenting wiht different coated strings since gettng my Taylor 310ce last year. Tried Elixers a couple of times and not impressed - find the tone (right out of the package) to be dull. Martin Lifespans were much brighter but I had constant breakage issues - may have been old stock I picked up on sale. SO I thought I'd give EXPs a shot. Much brighter than the Elixers to start out with, but took a little more play to 'break them in' - where they would hold their tuning. But it only took me a little while to realize the 'coating' is minimal on these: string squeek is back, which I have never had with the Martins or Elixers (or Cleartones I used before). Elimination of string squeek is hte principle reason I use coated strings, so these do not pass the test. Good for hard strumming. Do not feel coated. Decent tone. Probably not.

"New Improved" EXP strings

Poor quality compared to the originals. I had one set that only lasted one day. I wrote D'Addario about the problem with the "new improved" strings and never got any response - poor customer service. The original s were great and what came on my Takamine acoustic guitar. I used them for about a year and when I reordered they were the "new improved" and were bad. I waited several months and ordered some more hoping they would be different but they are about the same. Not as good as the originals Your general opinion of this product. The "new improved" are nt as good as the originals. The originals would keep their "new tone" for a long time and hold the tuning. The "new improved" strings do not last as long and are not as good at holding the tuning. N/A Good tone when new N/A N/A we are talking strings, not the action on a guitar.
