Product Rating Product Review I surprised it when I use it first time. Analog sound was amazing and polyphonic voice like a good digital synth. I need it because no other analog synth has polyphonic pad and ambient sound like this machine with this price range. Thank you.

Product Review This is my first synth so I'm still getting the hang of it. It's wonderful. The presets are already rad and it gives plenty of room to derive your own sound. Super excited to have this instrument as part of my setup.

Better than expected (and I expected a LOT)

Product Review My first hardware analog synth and I had VERY high expectations! The build quality is fantastic, the sound is amazing in every way, and the ease of use is up there. I was concerned about just how deep and fat it could get, I no longer have that concern! It's not that I wouldn't change anything, but there are no deal-breakers. If I were to make changes it would be to the preset system. It would be great to have more distinctly different user preset locations and faster means of accessing those user presets. If I was planning for live use it would perhaps be a bigger issue but I'm not. As it is if I needed to do that, I would use something like a midi router to tie multiple pieces together (which I may end up doing anyway). The other slight criticism (fair or not) would be the effects. I feel like they're pretty good but not great. I'm not sure that it's really fair to expect the built-in effects to rival say the Strymon stuff or the Source Audio stuff in a fairly reasonably priced hardware synth. Probably not, but if I do make that comparison it does come up short (so I'm using external fx a lot). Dave Smith is a genius but not in the effects world. If the Rev 2 did have killer effects on that level, it would probably be at least $500 higher in price. Overall, I really have to try to find things to ding the Rev 2. For my use in the studio, they're not an issue at all really. And the one thing that makes it all melt away, the Rev 2 still has its trump card to play.... It's a Prophet! And on that, it also more than delivers!

Pretty Good, But Not the Best

Product Review I wanted really hard to like this synth, but it's got the same sonic signature as my Virus TI. Not a very good quality for an analog to sound like a VA. It's also pretty limited as far as sound design is concerned (no oscillator to oscillator FM?) It does what it does very well, but it doesn't feel like a $2,000 instrument should. Also, the build quality is a little worrisome. It had stuff rattling around inside when I pulled it out of the box.

Product Review This is one of the best synths I’ve heard. I’m not old enough to remember, or be able to compare it to, the sounds of earlier Prophets. But for a modern take on a legend this thing is a beast. Coupled with my OB-6 the sonic quality is nearly unmatchable from any other modern synths. This thing evokes creativity constantly. Bi-timbrality with 16 voices is perfect, not too much, not too little, just right. Amazing sequencer as well. The keybed feels very nice too. Only thing is I wish the encoders were arranged differently near the screen, I’m often blocking my own view or having to position my hand a certain way to see the relatively tiny, yet crystal clear screen. Aside from that this synth can’t be recommended enough. I chose it over the Peak and I’m glad I did, even though I’ll probably get the Peak one day, I think they’d go very well together.

Product Review Useful presets that are easy to tweak. 16 voices give you unlimited possibilities. What you get for the price is a great deal! The quality and feel of the keys is also great!

Product Review This board has brought me back to the early to mid 80's. The ability to add in effects is a nice touch to the analog sound, and the ability to adjust on the fly is simply fun. Some of the presets are simply ear candy, but I've already created patches that I intend to immediately. There are some critics who may state that the sound is harsh--not up to the warmth of Prophet 6, or the bass is not as heavy as a Moog. Well, this is not a Prophet 6, and not a Moog. It's a Prophet Rev2, and can cover much of the analog ground that I need (plus more than I will ever use.) I'd highly recommend for anyone wanting to get into the polyphonic analog world, or to anyone that likes to modify sounds when playing live. The key bed is very responsive, and feels solid. The same applies to the knobs and buttons. Very glad I purchased this board.

Product Review For the price this is hands down the best analog synth available. The sounds are rich, clean, and right out of the box there are enough presets to keep you busy for countless hrs. I highly recommend this keyboard to anyone who is looking for amazing synth action keys along with unmatched quality sound for the price. The build is also very solid and ready for the studio but absolutely road worthy as well.

Product Review I'm so glad I went ahead and spent the money on a keyboard I can use at home or on a gig! Being old school,I love the knobs and controls to create my sound on the fly but,I'm also impressed with the new polyphony features! I had to get the 16 voice so I can play it more like a full keyboard! Great decision! The new USB features are also great, along with the plugin editor and vst/au plugin features! Sturdy keybed too! Definitely a keeper!!
