Over all has decent amount of drive, has good mids and highs, and lows aren't overdone like some pickups. I really enjoy these in my les paul.

There are plenty of great reviews of the Super Distortion pickup and it lived up to the hype with a classic rock sound. I got the PAF '59 for the neck position on a restoration of an O'Hagan 22 and it is perfect with the Super Distortion. It has a tone of its own, but it still feels like it fits with the Super Distortion.

There’s a reason the heavy hitters use Dimarzio for their signature models. My first guitar, made in ‘71, had Dimarzio “double creams” in it and have always judged all pickups to that vintage set. The PAFs do it for me.
