I've been slowly swapping all my hardware over to DW for many reasons. I've got the 5000 2-leg Hi-hat stand, the 9000 snare stand, a Puppy Bone, and the 5002 was mandatory. This cymbal stand came last week and immediately made my life better. First off, its just solid! I'm confident that it'll stand up to anything I could possibly demand from it. Second, all the features I need (and then some) are standard. You know, toothless tilt and them big plastic handles that you can move out of the way, the wing nuts that retain the felt washers, hinged memory locks, etc. All that stuff means that I have choices available to set my kit up and have my (everything) precisely where my sticks are expecting my (everything) to be. Without having to worry about my (anything) falling over or coming loose and drifting out of reach mid chorus. Third, this stuff is pretty! The chrome is immaculate and I love the way it all just looks BEEFY! Its got me wiping my prints off it after every little adjustment I make. And finally, the stickers and keys. I love swag and I make no apologies for it.

I thought my Gibraltar hardware was nice until I got this. Wow! Very sturdy and much more robust than the old Gibraltar. I especially like the tilter, just flip the lever and set it.

Like a lot of drummers out there, I have been using a mixed bag of hardware so to speak, especially with my cymbal stands, (Pearl, PDP, Tama, etc.). So I decided to both upgrade and standardize at the same time. Finalists were Gibraltar and DW. Decided on DW to their consistent stellar reviews, reputation, functionality, and quality. Ordered a couple of the DW5700 boom stands to start with. Straight out of the box was very impressed with the stands fit and finish per se. Nice and bright chrome work, very tight tolerances, and everything functioned very well. Love both the infinite adjustment on the cymbal tilter and the adjustability of the cymbal seat. Along with the top felt with incorporated wing nut, makes setting up quick and easy.
The only thing I was concerned with was the length of the tripod legs. Since I was planning on hanging both a tom & cymbal off one of the stands, was a little nervous about the smaller "footprint" after adjusting it to it's maximum. But gave it a try anyway. I hung a Yamaha Stage Custom 10" tom and a Sabian 14" XSR crash. To accomplish this, I used and older Pearl tri-hole multi clamp. Centered the tom on one of the tripod legs, and the cymbal is off the side. Worked like a charm and it is rock steady. No movement what so ever. So if your looking for a well designed, strong/sturdy, and well built cymbal stand that won't break the bank. Look no further, this is the one you both want and need....! In closing, you will not be disappointed. Thanks to AMS for their continued quality service, and offering such a quality product at a good price....!

I have always been a fan of dw. I specially love their hardware. It is heavy duty but does not look bulky. I can adjust exactly as I wish. There is no other brand in would buy for drum hardware. Totally recommend it for beginner to professional drummers. No matter the gig this stand is perfect, it offers versatility, since it can be used as a straight or boom.
