Your general opinion of this product. Theses drums are amazing. They just sound fat, punchy and have great tone. I used to own a Sonor Ascent kit. The DW Performance is a more full sounding kit. Really good quality. They're hand crafted in Oxnard and it shows. There is a big gap between the Design Series and the Performance Series. If you don't need custom design or custom sizes, theses drums are just great. They sound close to the Collector Series. You get the quality for a fraction of the price. Fat, loud, punchy and a lot of sustain. If you like maple shells, no doubt that the quality of hard wood makes a huge difference in the tone. I like a wrap type finish but you can choose a lacquer too. I paid 1549$ for a blemished kit. It had a few scratches on the bass drum head so I thought it's a great value. Price is around 2000$ usually, but it's still pretty good considering the Performance Series is a true profesionnal kit.
