For lap steel and squareneck reso, the right tone bar makes all the difference. I've gone through the usual suspects and couldn't spring for the high-dollar ones (if you can even find them), but fortunately started using the Lap Dawg a few years ago.
The most important things to me are: is it easy to grip, does it slide easily on the strings, and does it deliver great tone? The Lap Dawg comes through on all three. The plating holds up after several years. I just bought another to keep in my playing area at home so I don't take the gigging ones out of my cases.
