I've used DR LoRiders or HiBeams for 20 years at least. Thought I'd give Dunlop MM strings a try because the price point was slightly better than DR. Plus, Marcus Miller went from DR to Dunlop, so I had more confidence in giving them a shot.
They have a different feel under the fingers than DR. It's as if the final winding is microns smaller. The published gauges are the same as DRs but the strings actually feel thinner on my bass. They are less stiff than LoRiders, but not as noodle-y as HiBeams. I'd say they are a tad less bright than DRs, and have a nice upper-low-end grunt that both of the DRs lack completely... whereas the DRs deliver more metallic midrange. The deep chest-grunt of the Dunlops puts a smile on my face.
Strung them up on a 2004 MusicMan Stingray 4 that I am very familiar with, and has only ever been strung with DRs until now. The bass required no adjustments going from DR to Dunlop. Overall I like the Dunlop MM Super Bright Stainless strings. If the price stays this good I see no reason to use anything else. The only thing I can't attest to is their longevity as this is my first impression.

The Marcus Miller Dunlop strings are my #1 choice for bass strings. I use them on my Lakland deluxe 5-string and my ’70’s 4-string bass. As a professional bassist for many years, these strings provide a balanced tone across the fretboard, plenty of punch on the low end, bite to cut through, and most importantly, clarity and nice focused pitch center which is vitally important (and often difficult to achieve) for low bass frequencies.

These strings are much , much better than Dunlops regular strings. Marcus had big input when making these. I hope these will help the entire line. These are punchy, and alive sounding. Close to the DR brand as far as brightness goes. Excellent Strings!
