This Echoplex sounds pretty good.
I have owned this pedal for 2 months.
The sound is comparable to the tape version without the problems of using a tape loop. I also like that it is compact and easy to carry.
I use this echo device with my Allen & Heath mixer to play dub music.
Next I will get the Preamp to warm the sound a little.

I love the age on this pedal it helps to get that Evh delay tone and a very sturdy pedal enclosure knobs are easy to turn and very bright led works great in effects loop or right in front of the amp

For years I’ve used a digital delay, so when I tried out this Echoplex, I immediately noticed how different a tape echo sounds. It adds so much more dimension than I expected. This pedal is now a permanent fixture on my pedal board!

I have a JHS Milkman delay and a Boss DD-3 delay, both are good but not what I wanted. I wanted more of a tape delay to play stuff like Pink Floyd. I studied so many delay pedals before I chose one and I kept going back to this one. So glad I decided to get it because it is really really good. I almost ordered a more expensive one thinking it would be better but I don't see how one could get any better. AMS sells topp of the line equipment that I usually can't afford but with the payment plane I can get what I want/need. I have made and paid of other items through them and now have a large list. Good place and good service too.

I’ve owned the “big box” tape delays from the boutique builders. You know the ones. All of them sounded great but there were many hidden controls, secondary functions, and some even required midi or additional outboard gear to function to their fullest potential. Option paralysis, anyone? The Dunlop Echoplex sounds just as good as any of these options to my ears and it doesn’t muck about with all the unnecessary nonsense. Three knobs is all you need to get a great tape delay sound.

Got it today after watchng a gazzilion Youtube videos. Closest thing to a tape delay I've heard. I played it about 5 minutes and knew I'd found what I was looking for for a long time. Don't put it in the effects loop. The pedal is designed to go into the amp. And it comes with the power supply. So stop reading these reviews and just buy it. Dunlop/MXR pedals are the greatest. No menus, just knobs, which is what we really want as guitar players. Buy it.

This pedal has sum creepy trippy sounds . It's amazing it feeling likening am I'm in the speaker. Wicked weird sounds ! It's just great for back ground sound. Yes every one needs one of these . Great pedal .

If you’re into delay and echo style pedals then this is a must for any pedal collection. I bought the preamp pedal to go with it and the combination of the two is amazing. Only issue I had was the switch went after two clicks. Easy fix. New switch cost $8 and 2 needs of solder.

Let me start by saying I have never heard (or owned) an actual Echoplex of any type but I have watched quite a few videos. This pedal sounds very close to the original in my opinion, and even though it is fully digital I think Dunlop/MXR did a bang up job of emulating some of the originals.
I own a Carbon Copy delay and think it is a great pedal but I much prefer the vintage sounds of a good tape echo over any other types of delays. I also like that they include the AC power adapter in the box even though most musicians may have several power options already.
The reliability remains to be seen since I have only owned the pedal for a couple weeks now. If it's built like all the other Dunlop/MXR pedals I own/have owned it should last for years if not a lifetime.

The Dunlop Echoplex is a fantastic alternative to costly and fragile tape delay systems. The repeats really have the proper sound and tone as they fade away. The tap tempo ability is a wonderful and very usefull addition for live work. I set mine up for trails mode and it's great. Also the pedal has plenty of headroom for being hit by hot dirt pedals or preamp gain. Excellent pedal.

With the Echoplex pedal, I am stuck in 1960's outer space. I have no immediate plans for a return to Earth. This is probably my favorite delay pedal of all time. Buy one and come to outer space with me!!!!

I’m a gear head, and pride myself on having the quality gear, it doesn’t have to be expensive but quality is the key. This peddle is all that I needed, it sounds amazing. It does what it does well. Better than other tape delays on the market ????????????????

Imbued with the spirit of of its legendary old school predecessor, the Dunlop Echoplex harkens to the past yet gives today's players the high caliber response they expect from a quality effects pedal. To call it a most valuable addition to any pedalboard is an understatement: the Echoplex lives up to its reputation and then some.
