I mean, it's an EMG 81 what else can be said. Drop the Fishmans and all the other non-sense and stick to the basics if you play metal. I've owned/played the several different EMG models/sets, Fishamans, ect and always go back to these for the bridge playing anything metal with some bite. Stop second guessing and over thinking it and try this if you play any level of metal.

Do It!

Product Review
I have been using EMG active pickups for a long time. My older applications required soldering and some tough fitting. I put this in a custom build as a single pickup configuration in an SG style guitar kit. Absolutely easiest install I have ever dealt with. The pickup came with master tone and volume pots as well as the proper input jack needed for an active pickup. Only thing else you need to buy is a 9V battery. Needless to say the guitar is now a hard rock/metal machine and also sounds great on clean channels. I definitely recommend this product and I am sure I will purchase more in the future.

Every guitar I own gets a set of EMGs. Far more versatile than people give them credit for. From crushing metal to clean rhythms. Roll back the volume and they clean up nicely.

I have always been a guitarist that plays passive pickups. I've played stock humbuckers, blacktops, single coil stock pickups on Ibanez. I've grown accustomed to the warm tone.
But I went into a Guitar Center (sorry AMS) I played a Jackson Slathxmg. I loved the tone. I have experimented with a Schecter with EMGs years before. I really liked how single notes were more pronounced, stronger, overall louder, with more defintition and clarity.
I just got my Jackson Slathxmg yesterday. So I've only had a couple of hours to mess with the guitar.
So far so good.
If your thinking of buying EMG 81. Just do it.
They are definitely awesome pickups. You'll be happy you did.

New connections make setup a breeze!
Very reliable.
Your general opinion of this product.
I have used EMG pickups for several years now and liked them but was never completely impressed with them. Then I discovered the 18 volt mod. In other words using two 9 volt batteries in series to create 18 volts. This changed my world. It really opens these babies up and lets them do their thing!

Thin at 9v. Full at 18v.
Great Chrome/Stainless finish.
