I tried different pickups, but these sound great. They are really quiet which is perfect for what I use my strat for. I just which EMG would let you customize the set by changing the pickguard. I did it myself, really easy to do, but it would be a cool feature.

I recently found a 1990 maple Fender neck while cleaning out a closet. I decide to build a Gilmour (red strat). This was perfect for the build, dropped in (easy install), sounds great and completed my Gilmour project (parts-caster).

But the pickup is bad. Three set-ups make all three great PICKUPS. Its not a Fender. You gotta remember that. But its better. All three pickups, especially with "TONE," allow mesmerizing sound …
But I don't like … YOU know.

I purchased this to replace the fender lace pickups in my 88 strat plus. It dropped right in and I was playing in about 15 minutes after restringing.
Sound - wow. Just wow. Clarity, flexibility, and a huge singing lead tone. Exactly what a wanted, strat-adjacent but ballsier, without throwing me into high gain territory. Throw these behind a fuzz and it just makes my sound huge.

I bought this for a custom guitar build and I can say this is top notch. Everthing from the packaging to the pickguard and components is perfect. The installation is easy. I can't wait to get the rest of the guitar parts on to play it! I know the tones will be great.

At first, I didn't like this loaded pickguard. That was due mostly to the difference that the EXG Guitar Expander and the SPC Presence Control. But I got used to those controls and found the tones I wanted and all is well. This pickguard will give your Strat new tonal possibilities. That's what I was looking for, so it works for me.

If you want that extra something in your tone. My stock MiM pickups where missing something. They seemed to be dull and flat sounding. I do some Pink Floyd stuff along with some punchy music. They sing when clean and go from mild to wild with or without gain. I love them..probably will get another set.

Best sounding pickups I've ever had in an American Strat that I also bought through American Musical. Install took about 15 minutes and not only does my strat look better but far superior sounding to the stock pickups. No buzzing super tight and even sounds good playing high gain on my EVH III 50 watt combo, that again I bought through American Musical. Can't beat the no interest payment plans in my opinion!

If you have a strat to spare than this is a great and fairly easy to install mod. Just bear in mind that your guitar won't sound like a pure strat anymore. it is a very interesting sound that you may find useful. The pickups are super quiet and being active have lots of punch. Make sure to use the no. 2 input on your amp. Not crazy about how it sounds through some pedals but generaly happy I have this fancy new sounding guitar now. Bottom line, I recommend it but not as a main axe.

I purchased this product after contacting EMG directly. I put this set in a G&L legacy and admit it sounds great but I had to do a lot more than just remount them on a G&L pickguard. If you have this brand of guitar please note that you will have to route out the inside of your guitar. The size of the pcb board the controls are mounted on has a different curvature that causes the pcb board to stick out about a 1/2" to the right vs original passive electronics.

i put this in a 96 american strat. completely differnt guitar now, and I liked the old pickups. the noise level is almost gone. but the big difference is the two eq knobs. you get more tonal choices now. I like that.

My opinion of this product is that I have been searching for a set of pick ups this versitale for quite some time now. It is a awesome product that is easy to install and adjust your self.

These pickups will get anuy sound you are looking for. From mellow and soulful to powerful and gritty. Only way to know is to order yours, I stand by this pick up set 100% and it is all I will ever use in any strat I own.
