The sound was looking for to push my tone. Yes, if you want the James tone look no further but also so much more to helping you shape your own tone. Plus looks awesome with the brush on the pickups. Also cleans really shine through.

This is a nice upgrade for an average guitar. This is my first set of Active pickups. I converted my Ibanez from passive to this set, It was easy, Plug and play.I have been using these for about 3 months now.
I will say this, I prefer passive style pickups for clean playing. These sound fine and clean but, tone is a personal preference. (That what another guitar is for though). Everything else is great,They look's great too.

First time owning emgs, I have been using passive pickups forever and wanted to try some actives and thought “if James Hatfield helped design the hetset then how can I go wrong “ bought them and now I want them on all of my guitars, amazing! Great tone!

The best sounding pickups I’ve ever played. I love EMGs and that’s all I use (mostly 85/60) so I had high expectations for these. My expectations were blown out of the water. The cleans are as amazing as the distorted. And the variety of styles means I can put these in any of my guitars which I probably will. Luckily AMS has great plans that help make impulse buyers like me get the gear I want quickly.

I bought these to replace a Duncan JB/59 set in my ESP Eclipse. They were easy to install (however time consuming) and they look and sound great. A lot more output than my Duncans and some really great clarity.

I needed more beef than the Mustaine Livewire's pickup set that I had in my '93 Jackson RR Pro. I really liked the EMG81 that came stock in my RR24 pro so I searched for an EMG81 set and decided on the Het Set. I am pleased with the tone of the 81 in the bridge. It does have that tight attack, if not tighter than the plastic covered 81's but I feel the 60 in the neck is too boomy. It has too much low end for leads for my taste as well as cleans. Now I'm wondering if I'd have been more happy with the 85 in the bridge... I do appreciate the quick connect, solderless connections, although I did have to lengthen the input jack wires, Rhoads V problems I've grown to live with.

These pickups sound amazing in my Les Paul. The bridge is where it's at. But for solos the neck is great. If you're looking for the extra bite to your hi gain, these are definitely it.
