Getting back into music after years, I chose what I thought was a decent lower end product to get me jump started. Wow this bass is all you really need. Sound and feel are excellent, nice deep sound for my jazz style. Action is very good for the price. May not be a bass for metal, but running scales and and softer tones work well.

Not only is this a cool looking bass but it sounds amazing also. This fits the bill for so much different music . It is nothing like the standard Epi mud machine. Pickups are not too hot and not too bright nice transparent top end strong minds and lows .overall a great fun bass.

As a new bass player (I'm a guitarist) I wanted to learn some bass and have been playing a Toby Tobias (which I recommend for beginners). I wanted something better so i ordered this beauty! This bass is beautiful in every single way. So i tuned it up and plugged it in. The first thing i noticed was how loud it is. I had it on the same volume as the Toby but this thing is loud and clear! I also noticed how heavy it is! This is built to last and the heaviness is a small price to pay for the quality and sound!!! Amazing bass!

Great bass ! With the crummy new gibson 3 piece horror on the the other epi tbirds, its got the nice tunomatic deal. Way easy to setup and play. Balances good, plays and sound great. The new electronic are very responsive so its not as muddy as some of the older model. But hey, get your pete way on rock on !

Epiphone has really outdone themselves with these vintage pro Thunderbirds. Right out of the box, the setup was great and the bass was ready to go. The pickups on these really captures the old TBird sound that we’re all so familiar with from so many favorite records. The newer Gibson TBirds dont sound the same, and frankly dont hold a candle to these IF you’re looking for the classic sound. AMS delivers yet again!

The sound and feel of this bass is incredible! After taking a small break from playing I got the itch to start again. I’ve loved the look of the firebird for a long time. After playing it, I think I found my new favorite bass! The playability is fantastic! Putting it down is the hardest part.

Okay so like usual AMS was awesome and I was able to get this within a day of buying so hats off to them. The bass is a great instrument in many ways, but there is one caveat that I just do not like about this bass. Out of the box intonation and action were horrid and it needed some love to get playing right, but once done, it plays like smooth butter on hot toast, the frets were actually level and were also rounded off and smooth, A++ so far right? Pickups sound just smashing and have a lot of tonal options making it very flexible for ALL types music, Yes I said it ALL types. Build quality is spot on and the wood was well matched making it a beauty as well, mine s the OG sunburst model. The one thing that I cannot stand and think its really a dumb design is the 3 foot headstock, I jest, but it is at least a foot+ long making it impossible to fit in ANY case, but the one you have to buy to fit it. That is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars as playability looks and sounds are SPOT on!

I've owned several thirds over the years and this hands down is the best one. I like it better better my Warwick Thumb bass. Fit, finish, tone, weight balance, and neck playability are all superb.

First and foremost props to American Musical for their help with shipping, the company they used had a delay, and my Tbird went missing for a bit. American musical went above and beyond to help figure out the problem and i got my bass with very little frustration.
Out of the box the bass is set up, action was a little high for me, but a simple 1/4 turn and it was playing great. The pickups have a great rock vibe, punchy, but not to high. Big difference between the Gibson and this Epi. Is the weight. It’s a lot lighter, and there isn’t as much neck dive, but be warned, the headstock is a whole inch longer than the Gibson, or the other Epiphone options.
So far i absolutely love this bass, for less than half the cost of a new Gibson, this bass delivers. I’ve played Gibson’s, Fender USA’s, Spectors, and several others. For the money, this bass has been amazing.

As the proud owner of both Epiphone Thunderbird and Gibson Thunderbird basses I have to say that Epiphone is currently outdoing Gibson with regard to the Thunderbird Vintage Pro basses. People like myself have been clamoring for YEARS for Gibson to offer a true and faithful reproduction of the acclaimed and highly sought after T bird basses of the sixties. This Epiphone is the most faithful reproduction of the 60s era Gibson Thunderbird you’re going to find without draining your bank account. The newly redesigned pickups are EXCELLENT and very gnarly with that unmistakable and unmatched Tbird growl. I have both the sunburst and white and will soon be purchasing the ebony as well. My biggest surprise was how Epiphone made these basses at such an affordable price without sacrificing an ounce of quality.. they really are that good... they probably could have gotten twice the asking price and you can have all three colors for less than what you’d pay for a vintage bass... FIVE STARS!!!

Hi there! I received my sunburst version of the Thunderbird vintage Pro, a few days ago. After a thorough run-through, I am very impressed with this instrument. The bass has a high quality feel and look to it. I was concerned that the selection and matching of woods might not be great but I was very glad to see that the wood looks beautiful. The wings and center piece of the body look like a single piece of premium mahogany, as they were nicely matched with with no off-colors or weird grain shading. The neck feels slim and fast. Really slim. The bass I received should be the one Epiphone uses in their advertisements as it is really gorgeous. Back when i was in High School, I bought a new, 1976 Gibson Thunderbird. I remember the craftsmanship on that bass and knew it from top to bottom. That bass spoiled me as the newer Thunderbirds failed in comparison. This version is the closest thing to the old examples and I an very content with it. Great look, feel and sound.

I have wanted a Thunderbird Bass for a long time. I am so glad I waited until this model was available! Upon the unboxing I was taken over by the beauty of this Bass. The finish is flawless! I put my tuner on it and 3 of the strings are in tune and the fourth is just a little flat. The set up matched suggested factory specs. When I plugged it into my Ampeg bass amp I was simply floored. The sound of this bass is absolutely amazing. With two pickups and two tone controls the different sound possibilities are endless. I have no regrets buying this bass and if your in the market for one, I strongly suggest giving the Epiphone Vintage Pro a try.

Alpine White Flawless finish, action & setup great out of the box but I changed the strings to flat wound chromes. A good strap is a must as this is no lightweight. Sounds great.
