Product Rating Product Review Sounds and plays awesome right out of the gate!! The action is good, and it holds a tune well as I cranked it on day one. The light weight makes it all the better to jam for long periods of time. I'm thoroughly impressed and more then happy with my purchase. I just wish I had the case for it!!

Product Review You'll get over the unconventional looks once you plug in. I wish I'd gotten one of these sooner. I previously owned the Korina Explorer and regrettably sold it. This Moderne is perfect for all types of music, and gets lots of attention. It's light, the pickups sound amazing, stays in tune for days, and the neck shape is wide, but thin. Get one before they're gone for good.

Product Review This guitar is incredible. For the price you can't beat it. Easily could be double what you pay for it. The sound that comes out is incredible. It's the lightest guitar in my collection. The contours of the body make playing enjoyable and easy. Owned this guitar for a couple of weeks now and I play it every day. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone. Great bargain at the price.

Product Review Epiphone has really stepped up their game over the years. After buying their Bonamassa Amos Flying V and Bonamassa Treasure Firebird, I had pretty high expectations for the Moderne as well. And I wasn't disappointed at all! Out of the box, I needed to slot the nut and dress the fret ends, but that's true of most new guitars because I'm picky. Took me one beer and about an hour to make it play as well as any of my high end guitars. As with my Amos V, I had expected to replace pickups. But I ended up loving it as is - no need. This is a bargain for a really cool guitar! I don't know how you could miss with this one.

Product Review This little beast is extremely addictive. One master tone 2 volumes is easy. The fret board is fast feels like my 63 sg but tones are better. I don't know if the Korina is the reason but zero mud on low tones, creamy, and on high treble cuts but no ice picks. This is a miraculous guitar. I have vintage batch and PRS batch and Fender Gibson. This 58 Moderne Epiphone re issue is going to the next gig to knock some attitude...

Product Review First off it's the most light weight guitar I've ever held even lighter than a hollow body casino I own...next off. . the cutaway perfectly cures being able to sit with a flying V style body for us old farts that sit and practice . .nxt is the resonance and tone the korina wood creates even when the guitar isn't plugged in . . Nxt is the pickups....it's definitely not and great for metal . .but that said I can dial everything down on the tube amp and the guitar controls and play cleanly also .. . Very nice Ax for the price ...and the case is very nice also ...fits like a glove to the guitar so if your on the fence about getting one I'd go for it before they are all gone

Product Review Procrastinated on this purchase but decided to pull the trigger and get one. I'm glad I did. This is a beautiful guitar. Even thought the box was pretty beat up, it survived the delivery co. The frets are a little rough and the nut cut a bit high (I did not deduct stars as all new out the box guitars need something). After a quick setup to my taste, it plays well and sounds great, no pickup swap required. That being said it will get a genuine bone nut, F1 oil for the fret board, fret dress and polish and a proper setup and this guitar will rock. Like other reviewers have said very comfortable to play and well balanced. If you're on the fence, get it you won't be sorry and if you are you can probably sell it for more. Also get the case as it is form fitted to this guitar. AMS customer service was great as usual!

Product Review After being back ordered for months I just received my Moderne and WOW. It was worth the wait and then some. This is a beautiful, beautiful instrument. Gorgeous design, lightweight, high quality build, and very playable right out of the box. I’ll probably adjust the action a little, but other than that it came in solid playing shape. This thing is a beauty that sounds incredible and feels fantastic in your hands. I can’t stop playing it! I also got the case which fits like a glove (although the case is very large and heavy, but will protect it well). This exceeded my expectations! Couldn’t be more pleased.

Product Review I was so happy with the first one I bought a second one. As the proud original owner of an '82 Gibson Heritage Moderne, I couldn't resist when I saw these for sale here. I was so happy with it I bought another. Looks great, sounds great, plays great (after a minor truss rod adjustment). My only complaint seems to be a common flaw with epiphones, it needs a better toggle switch. Why they skimp on such an inexpensive part is beyond my reasoning.

Product Review The 2018 Epiphone Moderne is a real rocker! It's incredibly lightweight, which makes it practical for guys like me who like to run around on stage(or the floor of the local bar, depending on where I might be gigging!). The alnico classic humbuckers provide some great tones, I'm able to get that smooth 1970's classic rock sound with no problem. The guitar is sold without a case, but American Musical Supply offered it sold separately--which I bought. I am very happy with this guitar, and I am glad I decided to order it. AMS offers great payment plans, I am very satisfied with each item I have ordered, I have not encountered any problems at all. I will continue to be a loyal customer! In conclusion--if you like lightweight guitars that really stand out--get an Epiphone Moderne while you still can!

Product Review First off this is one of the most comfortable guitars you can play. It is beautiful. Mine came beat up in shipping. The headstock got smashed but I couldn't notice until I changed strings and noticed that one tuner was loose. Upon inspection the finish was cracked under the tuning peg. My tech told me nothing was compromised other than the cracked finish and the screw hole. The guitar was so pretty I told him to fix it and you can't see the finish imperfections as it is covered by the tuner. American Musical Supply offered to give me a price reduction or replacement but I already got it fixed and bought it for a reduced price on sale so I didn't worry about it. But I do appreciate the offer to stand behind it.

Product Review I love the head stock and retro tuners, also the lettering style( this is superficial but I like the look). It was set-up right out of the box, I didn't have to tweak or adjust anything which is unusual(even with top 'o' the line Gibsons and Fenders I've had to tweak them, fret buzz etc.). It's my understanding that this design was a proto-type that never went market ? I just love the feel, look and single tone knob and switch locals as well as the natural wood finish(antique meets the Jetsons ha ha !). I had a "flying V" in the mid 80s and hated it, but the curved, shorter point on the bottom of the body totally changes the look along with the way cool head stock. Retro before there was such a thing as "Retro" Of course I stand when performing, but the curved(ergonomic? on purpose?)bottom is great for sitting and playing at home or in my studio. Thats all folks. Oh,I almost forgot,I am and old Punk Rocker from way back and the P/Ups and sound are fantastic, it growls when I want it to as well as smooth and deep with high on top for some jazzy samba. Bye Bye

Product Review Good looking guitar that balances right above level, I found it easy to play standing or sitting. Only slight ding I could give it is the pickups don't sound as nice as the Gibson version but then at a third the cost !! We have both the Gibson and Epiphone Moderne and the Epi's looks fit and finish are not all that far off. Frets nice and level with smooth ends, minimal setup needed on the one we got. I do plan to change the pickups, the stock pickups are fine but My daughter who plays it wants something as she put it with more Growl that sound more like it looks-BA !

Product Review I am VERY pleased with this Epiphone Moderne guitar! It arrived in good condition, needed a quick tune-up, and plays just fine. There may be a tiny amount of tweaking in its future, but right out of the box the action, etc. is impressive. Fit and finish are excellent! I actually find this Moderne to be one of the more comfortable guitars to play sitting down...I just place my right leg in the middle of the V on the body and good to go! Plugged it into my Vox Mini5 Rhythm, all electronics work as they should, sounds great! Played standing with a strap, there is NO neck dive. I got this on impulse, and I'm glad I did! Highly recommended! I have a dozen guitars at present, including a Gibson Firebird I, the Jared James Nichols Led Paul, etc. This is right at the top of my collection, it's that good! PS: get the hard case, you'll be glad you did!

Product Review I have owned several Epiphone guitars through the years and thought a Moderne would be a good addition to my small collection. A crazy shape but it has it’s advantages. First off the balance is very good. No neck diving here. Because of the shape you get a lot of body mass which helps the sound and sustain. You have great access to the upper frets and the way the body joins the neck there is good stability. The hardware is good quality. Not wow great but it works and there are lots of replacement parts available if you want to hot rod. The electronics are very good. I am happy with the pickups and don’t see a reason to upgrade but if you want to you have tons of possibilities. As with most new guitars there needs to be adjustments made to this guitar to get the maximum playability. First off it will need new strings. Don’t bother adjusting the guitar with the old strings. They are cheap and will give you nothing but grief. Once you have new strings on you really need to stretch them out. Try and get them seated solidly. Next the nut has to be fine tuned. Without this the guitar will never keep accurate tuning. If you don’t know how to do it, have a repairman do it. It’s absolutely essential to have the nut cut to fit your gauge of strings. Lastly adjust the bridge saddles. If you follow all these steps the Moderne will rock you hard. One question that I see a lot is, are these guitars solid Korina hardwood. I believe they are but really if it is veneer it’s a great job. It looks great and plays great and for the money it’s a no brainer.

Product Review I had been looking for a moderne on the used market for awhile with them rarely coming available if at all. I stumbled on AMS and seen these reissues available. As I looked more into them realized they were made of Korina like they should be and also had my favorite headstock of the Korina series guitars. I was sent the wrong guitar “explorer instead of the moderne” but AMS has a great employee that helped right the problem and got me the correct guitar. When the guitar arrived and I got it in my hand I was really impressed. The fit and finish is excellent and extremely light weight with one of the best feeling necks of the 30 some guitars I own. I wish I could have gotten ahold of one when l was playing live. It literally hangs perfectly strapped on making play effortless. If there is anything I would change it would be the fretboard material as it is a little light in color but that is just a cosmetic preference and nothing to do with functionality. Great guitar when I was just expecting it to be the mate of my v and explorer hanging on the wall! Definitely became my new favorite guitar!!

Product Review I looked at the Gibson and the Epiphone Moderne. Both very comparable, side by side. Not knowing much about the Moderne, besides the Gibson fable, I decided to play it safe/economical, and give the Epi a spin. That and who can argue about a guitar made out of Korina wood? I am not disappointed, in the least! The Moderne has got to be one of the strangest guitars I have ever owned and played, but this baby will surprise you! It's got that strange vibe going on, and the clean and overdriven sounds are stellar! Want something out of the ordinary to rock with? This is The One! It fits right in with my Explorers, Firebirds, and Thunderbirds! It's not going to be a backup guitar for me, but one of the main players! Pick one up today! You will be pleasantly surprised! I certainly was!

Product Review This is my first Epiphone guitar. Kind of an impulse buy, I didn't even know these existed. I saw it and bought it the same day, and am glad I did. It has become my most played guitar. First I was blown away by the quality, the finish was flawless. The sustain is surprising, better than some high end guitars that I have owned. I adjusted the intonation a little and at some point will have it professionally set up, but for now I am very happy with the way it sounds. The wood is beautiful, it is very light and the electronics and hardware seem to be of good quality. The only issue is that one of the tuners was screwed on to the back of the head stock a little crooked. It works fine and didn't bother me enough to send it back or even try to straighten it up. I am pretty picky with my guitars and most people would never notice it. I have owned a Gibson with way worse problems than this. I bought the Epiphone case to go with it and it also seems to be of good quality. I have had it for about four months now and am still very happy with it. I think it is a great guitar for the money. I would buy it again.

Product Review This guitar is beautiful and is much more impressive in person than the pictures show. Light weight with a big sound, easy to play, perfect fret work, beautiful finish and wood grain, stays in tune, excellent hardware, classic sounding pickups. And despite the way it looks it's well balanced and even easy to play while sitting. It's a big plus to have it made from korina rather than another mahogany for the Moderne history, light weight and classic nasal but beefy ringing tone. Although, it's considered a rock and blues guitar I think it could be used for many other styles. The Epiphone case is form fitting so the odd shape can't shift around.

Product Review I decided to take the plunge on this.. been a Loooong time since I had a V or Explorer or other non conventional body shape. Was initially disappointed with the action and hated the string set that came with the guitar..it should not be shipped that way..So after some truss rod tweaking and a set of 09-042 strings to replace the heavier set it came with, the guitar plays very well and sounds great... Be prepared to buy the case if you are going to gig with this and also a guitar stand that can work with unusual body shapes, otherwise you are going to be in an awkward situation if you need to change guitars mid set and many clubs and bars do not have a convenient place for cases..The guitar is worth the price, just be prepared for the neck adjustment and a new set of strings.

Product Review Got this a couple of weeks back and have been enjoying it ever since. The action was a bit high when I got the guitar, but after a quick bridge adjustment and it plays like a dream now. It actually sits in my lap better than I expected, but a rubber strip like what are on some Flying V's would have helped a bit. Tuners, pots, and switch are just fine. Bridge and tailpiece could probably be a little better. The gold playing looks about as cheap as it comes. I expect it to tarnish pretty quickly. I don't care for the pickup at all. I am definitely replacing them, with something else......just don't know what yet. I really had reservations about the D neck profile, because I am not real crazy about the D profile, but this neck seems more like a cross between a C and a D. The case is beautiful. All in all, the Moderne is a guitar that always intrigued me, and I am glad to have one, at a very reasonable price.

Always thought it was a shorter, more compact body... Just as tall as my 2009 Gibson flying vee. Product Review I'm becoming a big fan of Epiphones. They feel great, play nice, sound fantastic. It came set up, ready to play--well, for me--I'm sure everyone has their perferred set up, string gauge, etc.--this is nice--I can't keep my hands off of it; got a place on my wall picked out for it.

Product Review The woodwork is excellent. Nice frets, really nice finish. This guitar is very light! The pickups are thin and lifeless, though. I will be replacing with Gibson humbuckers. The hardware is average, but does look nice. If you want a great player, plan on changing out the pickups. I'll be adjusting the bridge and tuners, hopefully they'll be decent. If not, they will be replaced as well. This is a good value, but plan on replacing some hardware and electronics.

Product Review I had been looking to buy a Joe Bonamassa Amos Flying V and upgrade the pickup with the SD Amos pickups. I'd read some less than stellar reviews about that guitar though and then I saw this. I've wanted a Moderne for a long, long time. But I didn't want a glue hog-boat anchor. I've had Epis in the past that were both. This guitar is a 3 piece body with front and back veneers. I can live with that. It's light, it's resonant, and it balances very well when strapped on. I was planning on replacing the hardware, pickups, and electronics, but it's not necessary. I've upgraded other recent Epihones with top of the line Faber bridge, tailpiece, studs, and inserts. It did nothing for the sustain, tone, or resonance. Epiphone has it figured out with their lock tone system. These pickups are really good as well. I may still replace them with Seymour Duncan Amos pickups, but I hate soldering, and these pickups sound so good. So I may never get around to it! The guitar came set up perfectly. Almost in tune as well! The strings are good quality and don't need immediate replacing either.

Product Review Well made, Great finish and fit. The Pro Humbuckers sound great, will not change any electronics on this one - it is perfect as is. Neck feels good and plays good once I lowered the bridge to my typical set-up height. The fingerboard feels good and almost like ebony. Korina is light and top and back are veneers but look good.

Product Review Very unique guitar, super light, well balanced. It came nicely setup and in tune, pickups sound great. I couldn't find any manufacturing flaws at all.
