The build quality and and hardware are excellent, it plays great right out of the box, it is beautiful. The Gibson pickups are praiseworthy. I love the 24-fret neck and the jumbo frets, this plays better than my $3,000.00 Gibson Les Paul. I didn’t like the “satin” painted neck, but a little 2000 grit sandpaper, rubbing compound, and polish brought it up to my standards. The only glaring flaw is that the tuners are not locking, but that too was easily remedied y purchasing and installing a set of Grover Rotomatic locking tuners. Now this is my 2nd favorite guitar, after my PRS Santana SE single cut - but if the Epiphone had a vibrato of comparable quality to the PRS that could change.., But one of these while you can, you will not regret it.

This is the best guitar I have ever owned, IT came setup out of the box. The tone is out of this world. I love every thing about the guitar. I have had it for about a month and I wouldn't take twice the money back for it. The overall looks of the product is perfect, had a lot of detail work on it,they did an out standing job. AMS was outstanding to work with. I just cant say enough about the guitar or AMS.

I was dissapointed, as a longtime Epiphone fan this guitar was not worth the money. The guitar looks great but the good stops there. Out of the box the setup was horrible but I can deal with that, it was buzzy, the pots were noisy. the fret work was shoddy and they were unpolished. Besides the guitars looks the gibson pickups were the only thing I liked about this guitar but there was just too much wrong out of the box to deal with for the price tag. I ended up with the plus top pro in blood orange and I was much happier

I got the black cherry one, wow simply a beautiful guitar and plays like a dream come true. The one I purchased said it had a minor blemish, I’ve yet to find the minor blemish on this guitar! I've always love Epiphone, and this guitar is one of the many reasons why. I love the Les Paul, and this has a great sound. One of my favorite things about this guitar is the ability to switch between using the single-coil pickups and using the humbuckers. Giving me that edgier sound that I enjoy playing, I can quickly change my tone and pitch at the flip of the control knobs. The price is right for this Ephiphione, as I would recommend this guitar to any Les Paul fan.

The sound is pure and rich and the sustain is phenomenal. The fingerboard is a breeze to play and the action is extra low which I prefer. I had to loosen the truss rod a little to stop the factory tuned buzz, but that fixed it. I love having 24 frets and both Gibson pickups in this sound slightly better than the Burstbucker Pros I had in a $2,500 Gibson I sold.

This Epiphone LP is the Gibson that you CAN afford. Gibson USA Split Coil pick ups are a great asset to exploring different tones. This is an all purpose guitar whether you play Blues or Metal. This arrived in a well constructed hard shell case which is a huge bonus nowadays.
The only preference I have is that the action was set too high from the neck, but this is easily adjusted. The strings needed changed, they made my finger tips black in the first 5 minutes
Over all an awesome guitar to have in your collection, you won't be disappointed!

Lotsa bang for the buck! Right out of the case this thing sang. I was really surprised at the tone coming from this. A cheaper Les Paul? With a blindfold on you cant tell much difference. Coil split is awesome feature, its like getting 2 guitars in the box not one. The finish, neck, this thing is so nice I could go on for awhile. In short its great, very functional, comfortable in your hands, and just screams to be played. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

After having a few Gibson products and a couple of,
Epiphones all I can say is WOW!! Epiphone quality,
has improved nicely sense my 1993 Epi standard.
after selling my 1990 Gibson 1960 classic this is an,
awesome replacement. You get great quality and, playability the tone I get with the USA made pickups,
is warm and beautiful and the sustain last long,
enough to finish your refreshment.

This is a great guitar and is built like a tank. It is heavy as a Paul should be. I purchased the midnight ebony and paired it with a Code 50 Marshall. The asthetics are beautiful. I replaced the kidney shape machine head buttons with tulips and added black speed knobs for a Gibson look to go with the USA pickups. The satin neck and string action are built for speed. It's a warm sounding axe with brightness when needed thanks to the coil tapping. The quality is very good and I recommend the Prophecy Les Paul if you want Gibson sound without breaking the bank. Oh lastly, the included case is a bonus.

I have to hand it to epiphone, this is one the most awesome guitars they have ever produced.i use to own a les paul gibson standard and I sure wouldn't be afraid to put this guitar up against it.i love the little bit smaller next ,it gives you great speed.great clarity, great sound and there's not anything you can't do far as sound goes with this guitar an the code 50 marshall amp I bought with it.do yourself a favor an save yourself a lot of bucks an by the prophecy an not the gibson.thanks and an epiphone.

Pictures do not do the dark cherry justice, it was absolutely gorgeous when I opened the hard shell case. The Pau Ferraro fretboard is beautiful and feels great. Action was set super low and intonation was perfect out of the box. The satin neck feels great and is very quick. No sharp fret edges, the graphite nut is set nicely in the neck, no dead frets or fret buzz. Mine weighed in at 8lbs 6oz and feels perfect. Epiphones quality control has improved dramatically and it shows, tone and volume pots aren’t loose, 3 way selector switch isn’t loose. Very solid and well worth the money. Is it a Gibson? No. But, Epiphone really knocked this one out of the park with the Prophecy Plus GX! The picks are great, very responsive, will be switching those though for a set of Lundgren Heaven 57s, my go to pickups and changing out the string for a set of Ernie Ball Slinky’s, but other than those two personal touches, this Les Paul is a steal and I couldn’t be happier with it!

I wasn’t about to pay $1200 for a Gibson yet, and I’ve been very impressed with Epiphone lately. I researched the Prophecy GX and finally pulled the trigger. When it arrived I had expectations of a great guitar...I was wrong. I GOT ONE BEAST OF A GUITAR THAT NOT ONLY PLAYS AMAZING..it looks like a $3000 Gibson!!!! The Gibson electronics and pickups are spot on and the tone is way better than I expected! The neck is perfect and has a satin finish which is a bonus for me. The flame top in black cherry is simply stunning and beautiful eye candy!! WELL WORTH EVERY FREAKIN PENNY!! This guitar is now my main axe and I’ll never let it go... GET ONE!!!

Just received my new Les Paul Custom Plus Prophecy GX, and what an axe! 24 frets and Gibson humbucking tone mojo. Wow, plays and feels great! Comes with a case - very nice! Gorgeous black cherry finish, grover tuners, coil taps on both pickups. Tested the axe out on some Sammy Hagar classic tunes and man! The guitar rocks hard! Love it!!! I hope Epiphone never stops making this model its fabulous!

The action is a bit high for my liking even though it came out of the box set up nicely. Plays very well as a rhythm instrument but it will take a bit of work to get the buzzing out of the neck with an action set a bit lower for faster lead work.

The quality from China made was below standards. The selector switch was loose and didn’t stay in position. There is no way this should have passed inspection. Even the basic quality check would have caught this oversight. Instead of returning I ended up replacing the switch and the guitar rocks. Looks beautiful, plays fast easy to move up and down the back. Not a big fan of the satin neck. This is no reflection of AMS. Only poor reflection on Epiphone.

It is Beautiful in every way. Looks Sound Playability.
I have owned several Guitars over the years. From the super High end, to the junk. When it Comes to buying an Electric Guitar My experience has always been you get what you pay for. With this Guitar you are getting much more. Unless my Kids are starving to death, this is the one Axe I will never sell. It came setup very fast and the intonation was set perfectly. No Adjustments were needed. I don't like Factory Strings So I changed the strings Plugged this guy into the Mesa Boogie After just a few minutes I was in Love. If your on the fence between this Guitar and another one Buy this one you wont regret it I promise.

Upon unboxing this instrument I opened the case and was literally stunned by its beauty. It did need some minor set up a little polish on the fretboard, all the regular stuff. Im really happy with it . This screams oozing power and it looks like its worth waaaay more than I paid for it.

I have always told people to stay away from Epiphone because I had always found them to be very cheap sounding guitars. But I had played a few over the last 5 years or so and I noticed that the quality of the build, and the sound had been greatly improved on. So when the Prophecy came out, and it looked so beautiful...I took a chance on it and I have never looked back. This guitar is truly amazing, and especially at this price point. Quality all the way around. I will be buying another one this year!

This is a beautiful guitar, not only is it beautiful but it has a great tone and it's a Les Paul! Very comfortable, easy to play and did I say it was a beautiful guitar because it is! It was set up well right out the box even though I did take it for a little tweaking and now it sounds great! I love the warm tone and the coil tapping feature. Epiphone hit it out of the park with their Prophecy gx. I love this guitar!

This is my first "quality" guitar. To be honest, due to my own lack of knowledge, I imagined any Les Paul copy would be "knock-off" quality...man! was I wrong.
Compared to my other starter guitar, this one is a Rolls Royce... very well made, precise, tight, clean, well crafted.

Well made, everything was perfict
Fast neck with a smooth satin finish, doesn't have the killer weight of a Gibson les Paul which I find to be a plus.
The tone is amazing plenty of bite and the coil tap gives you loads options

Not as heavy as I expected. Neck is smooth and easy to get around.

I love this guitar, plays and sounds amazing
Ive had it for a month, it is nicely constructed and seems to be dependable. Ive had my Prophecy EX for almost a year and it is also well made and very dependable, no problems at all.
It feels great, very fast, love the way it fits my hands, love the slim neck. Controls are right there, easy access to the volume and tone controls, and the pickup selector switch.
The cleans are very bright, and the gain is crunchy, both very smooth n hot.
It came out of the box like I just set it up myself, very happy.
Awesome finish, always getting compliments on the finish, and I couldnt find any flaws upon inspection.
So far so good, and if its like my EX itll be just fine.

Your general opinion of this product.
This is an unbelievable guitar! All that anyone could want and then some. The craftsmanship and attention to perfection is simply mind blowing. I already own a custom but this is by far a superior guitar. I would stand this next to a "Gibson" any day...and go away a winner. You could not find a better instrument in any price range. American Musical did it again! The guitar arrived quickly and set up almost perfectly right out of the box. I did some minor adjustments and away I went. This guitar kicks major butt. She is delicate when picked soft and screams when you dig in a little. Very touch sensitive. Just try one out, there is no way you will be disappointed.Thanks guys, I love it.
This guitar is as solid as it can be. It is not only beautiful to look at but the build quality is beyond belief. I can only say I think it will last my lifetime. The attention to detail is off the chart! Not a flaw any place and the quilt matches so well you cannot find where it matches up...so cool.
Like I said , the setting up was quick and painless. A tweaking of the neck and action and she was ready to play. And does she ever play! Like butter. The neck has a satin finish that is smooth and quick and plays as good as any guitar I have owned, and I own a few. The pickups are USA and sound fantastic. Very responsive to the controls and touch. Couldn't be better if it was custom built.
The tones you are able to coax out of this beauty is remarkable and quite pleasing. If played gently she is sweet and clean..dig in a little and she can growl impressively. Get physical and she screams and cries like no other. Just a delight to play. Makes you want to play and that is a good thing, when was the last time your instrument made you want to not put it down!
The action is fantastic. I set it up to my liking and it is fast and smooth. Very comfortable and familiar to play right out of the box. Thanks AMS as someone was responsible for this getting to me in such great condition.
Unxxxxing believable!!! Not a smear or any kind of flaw anywhere..and I have been over this guitar over and over. It is just a work of art. It was even in a quality case that fits like a glove. A beautiful guitar. I got the dark cherry finish and it is really much better than the photos in person.

Your general opinion of this product.
Not really a fan of how epiphone makes their necks, almost feels like plastic, feels waxy, so you have to wear the neck down a bit. The neck truss rod needs adjustment, cheap stock strings needs to be changed or it has hard time staying in tune.
The body is flawless, the neck feels cheap, hardwares are solid, the pickup on mine looked like it was slapped in, pickup plastic housing were a bit crooked,knobs seem to be solid. For 600, your paying for nice body, original USA Gibson pickups, and solid hardwares.
It depends on the strings you use, I tried ernie ball skinny top, heavy bottoms, it felt like i was playing a acoustic guitar, strings were hard. I switched to GHS boomers, light 10-46, feels alot nicer but tone is a bit brighter and loses the low end bite. Gonna replace 46 with 50 or 52. Neck feels cheap, read that some people sand it down to smooth the back. Not my go to guitar, but just have it to give me a more variety of tones and style of guitar.
All depends on the strings you use again. Pickups are nice, it gets the job done, sounds like a les paul, it can do metal with proper setting on particular amps such as a Mesa boogie and Peavy 6505.
Action was really high for me, had to adjust both truss rod and bridge. Still buzzes, and action isnt that low, still need adjustment on the truss rod.
Turned out better then I expected. Beautiful guitar finish and color. Glad I choose sunburst cherry. Although its a basic color, it really brings out the wood versus the black cherry.
Only had it for a month, but seems like it should be good to go for many years. Comes with a nice case to protect so Im not worried about it being damaged from the weather nor physical damages.

the quality is awsome ,feels good in your hands,i got the heritage cherry sunburst and it looks better than the pics. the case fits nice and feels sturdy

the coil tapping is nice get that sharp tone like two single coils or that throaty hummbocker sound

had to lower the action a little but the satin finnish neck is smooth and feels good
well with coil tapping this thing is great. you can get down and nasty just like a les should or get that twanggiy tele sound
finish was great
need lowered a bit and i put new 10's on it over the tail stock feels great now

Yes ...VERY solid guitar..and have to mention the case. This is a nice deal....seriously. The case is really durable and the GX fits "perfect" . I think it was made for this guitar.
So far..only had this beauty a week but I can tell this is my guitar for life...
And the guitar case is "very" well made.

Pictures don't do this guitar justice....especially the Blk Cherry GX. With the gold appointments WOW !!! and the inlays Mm,,,Mmm..Mmmmm dam. Didn't adjust anything but tune it and hooked up the amp!! PERFECT !!!. Gotta give kudos to the sales rep. at AMS. I asked as many questions as I could and he was "very" knowledgeable and friendly . He help me compare different amps as well Thanks for making my purchase a memorable one. OH yea...forgot. got it in one day, ordered from AMS 12 noon Tues. got it 1 pm Wed. from Jersey to Maryland. Came well packaged. Nice.........
I wasn't able to get the feel of the GX in any stores around me so I wasn't sure how it would feel so...blind faith. The weight I guess was my main concern. I'm so lucky .....this guitar is like an ol'friend. Well balanced and the satin feel on the back of the neck and the profile were dead on for me. Flawless....really beautiful guitar, binding, finish and the pattern on top it's AWSOME !!!! ( I hoped I would get a nice pattern) I did!!!! And the gold really just sets it all in motion.
*First thing you do....Buy a set of microfiber polishing cloths to keep her shiny always.
Needed tuning is all... 2mm set action perfect. Something to think about....something I didn't know was that when Epi's come from china or where ever... there sent to the Gibson Tenn. factory where they are inspected by Gibson Techs prior to being made available to the American consumer. Cool huh....

For the money,,,WOW!! Even the case is nicely made! Its a very pretty instrument!
HEAVY!!! The way a Les Paul is supposed to be! The satin finish neck is a dream to play.The guitar sounds great through my peavy tube combo. Typical Les Paul layout. Controls feel like quality components.The included straplocks are different than what I'm used to,but work fine.
To me,the heavy body and SOLID feel of this guitar produce that thick,crunchy tone that I personally love. I wont change these pickups,I don't see a need to. Epiphone hit it right here.Great sustain. Man,,if you like a heavy tone on a heavy guitar.This is it.
Mine is gorgeous! Although the quilt top looks to be made of one piece. I've looked closely and see no "split" I only see one pretty quilt top! No issues here with tops not matching.
A tiny bit high. No buzzing on this one. I gave this guitar one turn down,tuned it, and so far I'm very pleased.

Great Guitar! You will not be disappointed! The GX is so versatile and the single coil tapping is a great addition to an already amazing sounding guitar.
This guitar is Heavy! For me, I am used to my strat being so light. This thing is built like a tank and sounds like one too.
Deep, Deep aggressive tone!The mids and high's just scream. The sustain sings as long as you can hold the note....Wow! From sweet warm clean to dark and angry, this guitar is the full Les Paul package.
Absolutely beautiful guitar. I can't stop looking at it. I almost don't want to play it because it looks so good. LOL!
