The guitar punches above its price point. Solid wood with good pots and switch. I thought the internal tuner was gimmicky, but we really like it.
I did have to adjust the pickup height, and intonation, but the neck and fretboard were totally in spec. The tone is great! A great guitar for the price!

I am a complete beginner so that's where this review is coming from. I've only been using this setup for a few months.
I love the look of the guitar. Mine is darker and richer than it showed online. I love the vintage look of the app also.
The settings on the guitar and the amp give a nice variety of sound for me starting out.
The autotune isn't helpful to me. The lights are all over the place. I ended up using the Fender app on my phone.
Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.

The guitar is very nice for the price. Defo change the strings rite when you get it befor you judge the sound. Wasnt a big fan of the amp. However i changed the speaker in it and it made a great diference. Gig bag is a gig bag i guess lol. I dont recomend buying the whole package if you are a avid guitar player. I wish i just bought the guitar with no amp...etc. But was nice with getting the gear very fast and was all in good shape.

This is setup is absolutely amazing. I’ve spent the past several years surrounded by my musician friends and finally decided to take the leap and really learn to play so I could join in the music circles. Every single one of my friends is envious of this setup. Two of my friends are professional musicians whom have both toured the country playing with their bands, and who both own high end guitars (both of which referred me to American Musical btw) and they sincerely have guitar envy over this beauty. Only have the guitar for a week and I am overwhelmed. The guitar looks amazing and plays extremely great. It is one of the most confortable guitars to use, given the price. I've long been skeptical of guitar bundles, mostly due to the lack of variety and , often times, lack of quality. I decided to purchase two of the Slash AFD Performance Packs for my kids this Christmas instead of purchasing everything they would need separately, and I have to say that these are amazingly well built guitars for the price, and the amplifiers pack a nice punch as well.
I have played guitar for over two decades now and these instruments play and sound as good as some of my more expensive Epiphone Les Pauls. The tone is full and rich (played clean) and when you crank the overdrive you can make 'em scream. The action was low out-of-the-box and needed no adjustment. I was able to "test drive" the guitars in November, wrap them for Christmas and they both maintained their tuning until my girls opened them. I do like the built in Shadow Tuners, they make life a bit easier.
Overall, I would highly recomend this to any beginner looking for a quality bundle to invest in. I would also recomend this to anyone looking for an inexpensice addition to their collection. It was really worth it, the kids love them and the guitars and amps sound great together.

After reading the myriad other positive reviews on this I decided that it would be a great first guitar for my oldest daughter who expressed some interest in playing.
Given the cost, it would be easy to unload if she decided not to pursue the hobby.
I want to get the negatives out of the way because, overall, I am very impressed with the product.
The cable that ships with this is TERRIBLE. If you get the package, buy a decent guitar cable. It seems to be shielded poorly and is very noisy.
The strap is mediocre at best. It is serviceable but feels cheap and flimsy. Again, spend the money on a better quality strap and you will be happy.
Now to the better:
The gig bag is OK for storage and lugging the guitar if one is careful. It's not as heavily padded as the better quality ones, but it will work.
The Best Stuff:
The guitar itself is fantastic. The construction is solid enough and it is a genuinely beautiful instrument. The AAA Flame Maple laminate top is gorgeous. I love the binding around the body and the cherry-colored Mahogany back of the guitar pairs nicely with the amber top.
The fretwork is good with no sharp edges.
The tuner built into the pickup ring is a stroke of genius and a super bonus.
The pickup switch is quiet with no noticeable "pop" when changing PU outputs. This guitar truly IS a Les Paul in terms of its ability to shape sound via the switch. It sounds GREAT and plays well.
The amplifier is one of the BEST features of the package. The 15 watts are definitely LOUD enough for practice and both channels do what they are supposed to, with the "dirty" channel producing significant gain and growl to satisfy anyone.
The whole thing came well packaged for shipping.
Depending on how its received, you might want to invest in a professional set up or if you have the skill set, you can set it up yourself. But it has been pretty playable out-of-the-box.
To sum up:
This is a GREAT beginner's package. Throw out the crummy accessories and the budding guitarist will be thrilled; the more experienced player will be surprised at how GOOD it is.
I can safely recommend this to ANYONE.

This is a great guitar/amp combo if you're just starting out -- and maybe more, but I'm not there yet so I can't say. I've been playing for 2 months, and I think it sounds and plays great. As you get more confident and hit the strings harder, it has a killer bite to it. Insanely good tone! The guitar looks much more expensive than it is, and the amp works well and sounds really good in both the clean and dirty channels. There's a little bit of fret buzz here or there once in a while, but it's not bad or distracting. I don't see the need to upgrade for a long, long time. This guitar / amp combo seems to have a lot of headroom for me to grown into. It's all most hobbyist guitarists need. Highly recommended for that purpose!

My Epi Slash Pack arrived quickly from AMS. I’m 55 and have had or have most brands and types of guitars and amplifiers. But here Iam excited as can be to try out the Epi Slash Pack from AMS. And much to my surprise significantly better than anticipation. A nice light thins Les Paul Special ready time play out of the box with near perfect action, smooth frets and flawless finish.
You can hear the Slash in you with the Epi Combo Amp. Stunning looks replicate a tube amp with soul. Solid state sound replication is excellent.

I bought this guitar as my first ever guitar. I had been looking for a Les Paul type guitar that was a reasonable price for a beginner, but still had the quality I wanted. After searching I discovered many guitars and amps I wanted, but would break the bank yo buy separately. When I stumbled upon the Slash AFD Package I saw that it was well worth the money. I've played it now as a beginner for 2 months and have loved the sound quality of the amp and the design of the guitar, and even my experienced friend of 7 years loves it and even considers getting it just because of the quality it has. When I received the product it did not come with a power source for the amp. I called the chat and that particular guy was useless. but , I called the next day and the tech guys were at a training seminar with fender from what I was told. I called again and the tech was very helpful. he shipped me a universal power source, not the one that came with the unit as I was told. it arrived today, thurs., june 18. I haven't seen it as my roommate told me that a package arrived. I hope to check it out tonight. I wss disappointed that I couldn't play it when I received it. But I hope all will be well. I am sure it will not be as good as the Fender Strat, USA model, that I owned and had to sell for economic reasons, but I hope to enjoy as I haven't had an electric guitar for awhile. EXCELLANT looks, flawless fit and finish, the pickups
Are remarkable it's so easy to dial in any tone you want.
Set up was great out of the box!! Not one concern about
This guitar it's the best money I've spent on any instrument
And the amp is an added bonus for dialing in great sound
And it's loud as "h@&! For 15 watts. Built in pickup ring tuner is so accurate, wish I had one on all of my guitars would replace it immediately if lost or damaged!!
