Time will truly tell the longevity of these, but they sound great, as all slinky's usually do. It might be some sort of internal confirmation bias, but these feel a little more tighter tension than the regular Slinky 9's? Maybe I am crazy. Either way, I like them.

They are good strings but B string is same as 9g
By: Simon
Submitted: 9/2/2022
Product Review
B string is the same 11g string as a 9g set, and I see no reason for lighter bottom strings. Since most of your boomer bends are going to be GBandE and the B is the same as 9g set, you get 2 strings that are useful for solos. The lower end strings EAD I see no reason for lighter than 9 unless youre doing a lot of bending on the low end which you probably arent. You will want more tension on low end for better rhythm playing and chords, and you want lighter strings on the top nd for bending vibrato for soloing, so I am not impressed with the same B string as 9g so I just stick with 9g cobalt. These are kind of pointless. In fact they kind of suck. Just stick with 9’s or find a set with lower than 11g on the B string. Because thats probably what you want, easier bending and vibrato. I like cobalts but they screwed up on these.

I have used Ernie Ball strings exclusively for the last 53 years. However after finding numerous packs of rusty strings from my last bulk purchase I contacted Ernie Ball's customer service. They responded immediately saying they took rusty strings seriously and asked for pictures and details in order to "properly compensate me" (their offer, all I had requested was a use by date so I would never find myself saddled with 3 dozen+ unusable packs of rusty strings.) I submitted the proof they asked for and I'm still waiting some 3 months later to hear back from them. Ernie Ball has done nothing but lie to me and ignore the problem. I will not be using their strings again after this experience.

Just like all of the Ernie Ball Cobalt, I love these strings. I've always used Ernie Ball, but ever since the Cobalt strings came out some years back, that is pretty much all I've used. The definitely have more output, but also seem easier to bend, and seem to last a bit longer than their regular strings. I don't anticipate using any other type of string any time soon.

I am primarily a bass player so the BEEFY and Heavy Bottom gauges are my favorite. Love the big sound they deliver.

I did not like them at all. Being made of cobalt they were very stiff feeling strings, sounded too bright and tinny. They were hard on the fingers and my concern over them cutting into and wearing grooves in my frets bars prompted me to remove them right away and replace them with Ernie Ball nickel compound supper slinkies, (Pink Pack), which I like very much for all of the opposite reasons.

I am skeptical of some of the advertising claims, but these are the best for me. Definite big gain in output. I use on my LP and Rick. I like the feel. Stay in tune. I bend the hell out of them. Better tone than regular slinkys and other brands that I tried. Slight guitar setup change for pickup and intonation. Now I buy them by the stack. I don't know how long they would last, much longer than regular strings, but I change them because I have an OCD thing about it. They are worth the few extra dollars. I gave away all my other sets of strings.

Product Review
I recently purchased a 2015 Gibson Les Paul Classic. I'm leaving it stock and not changing the pickups. It has a 57 classic neck and super 57 bridge which is low out put for me because my other les pauls have EMG ZW 81/85 actives. I finally tried the Ernie Ball Hybrid Cobalt Slinkys .09 to .46 and they a perfect for my passive pickups in my stock Gibson I went through 3 types of strings and multiple brands including my go to on my other les pauls (GHS BOOMERS) but the Ernie Ball Cobalts are by far the best for the vintage output of the passive pickups. My guitar is no has a muddy low end on high gain and the cut through with the mids and highs. The guitar sounds tight and rings much longer. The range of sound is amazing and the cobalt reacts better with the magnets of the pickups which makes it sound like you are playing a hotter pickup without swapping out the pickups. I know people are saying they last a long time but I change strings once a month. They Stay in tune very well.

First off the claim Ernie ball makes is high output and clarity. Both completely true! This is notable especially on the wound strings. I had to pretty drastically change lower pickups away from the wound strings. But once I made adjustments considering the cobalt material interacts differently...whamo!!!...they sounded amazing! Now another noteworthy thing about cobalts on the wound strings- they do feel different. A little gritty not quite as smooth. A new set stabilizes really quickly as well! All in all a very unique string set. I had to go back to the drawing board a bit, setup wise, because they're so unique. It was with it for me! I have been using them exclusively.

I've been a fan of Earnie Ball strings since I started playing almost 35 years ago. I've used the Nickel Wound Slinkys pretty-much consistently. I tried these, however, on a new Ibanez guitar just to see if I could get a more unique tone. And I achieved just that!
Excellent!!!
Nice, smooth. I always use 10's. I put these on my guitar and I feel like I'm using 9's... bends are much easier and the general "under-the-finger" feel is just lighter.
This is where these strings really hit!!! It's so hard to REALLY explain... it's deeper, but with added brightnes and no loss of mids either. It's almost as if the string knows what you're going to play and increases just the right EQ for that note. I've been able to get tones out of my current guitar/strings/amp that I've not been able to achieve from any other setup - sustain and controlled feedback are phenomenal as well!
Most definitely!!! You just have to experience these for yourself.

At first, I was reluctant to pay 10 bucks for a set of strings. Ya know, how many times can they reinvent the wheel? BUT, they really did it. These strings last longer and really do sound better. Try them yourself. Take a Cobalt string and tie it on beside a different type and then let your ears prove it.
Very dependable and long lasting. I play at least 35 hours per week plus which normally means changing strings every two weeks. Not anymore!
