It has a nice Slender neck for a Five String guitar and sturdy neck with six bolts. Believe it will be around a while. Great guitar.

The build quality seems good overall. I take like the neck but apparently ESP doesn't care because they string it with roundwounds and just 2 hours of playing cuts grooves into the soft rosewood. Tone is okay with flatwound strings but it's honestly nothing spectacular. I put DR flats on it and you can hear a lot of upright wood tones in the lower range with the bass boosted on the EQ. I'm still not exactly sold on it and will likely restring it and return it...just not that impressed for $500. Maybe I'll save for the Sire fretless.

I bought this bass based only on other reviews and word of mouth, with some fear of buyer's remorse. But after about 10 seconds of having this instrument in my hands, I realized what an amazing bass this is - especially, at such a great price! This plays very smoothly and sounds great!

I had to go with a two star review but only because, despite the beauty and potential great sound, mine got to me in a not-so-great condition. There are dead spots on the second, sixth, and ninth "frets" not allowing me to play the first, fourth, fifth, and eighth frets. It plays great if i capo it on five but who wants to throw a capo on a bass?! Not me. I got a bass specifically to write doom metal and it won't play open because the stings (peaking of the strings themselves, my G string broke within a quarter crank of the tuning knob. And I even let the guitar acclimate to its new climate in a hard case for three days before i even touched it) are essentially, resting on the neck up to the fifth fret.. And Im the type of dude that likes some dirty lows. I don't wanna HAVE to play up high. Im gonna give AMS another shot by trading this one in for a new one but if the new one comes in in the condition this one did, I most likely won't purchase through AMS again. :(

Well balanced and not very heavy which translates to more play time. My 6 string is an 11 lbs beast so playing a lighter bass is easier on the back. I did, however, have to bring it in to have the neck adjusted due to a lot of buzz and dead spots. Other than that this a great bass for those who are looking to break into the fretless bass for under $500.00 (I purchased a "damaged" model which had a slight ding that I had trouble finding)

absolutely top-notch craftsmanship.
only thing i would add really would be neck-thru construction, but i know that would jack up the price. very solid for a bolt-on
sound is amazing, plenty of that great fretless wahh
a bit on the heavy side for those that are used to a 4-string, but not bad at all. neck is wider obviously but very manageable
this thing can make pretty much any tone you can dream up
just beautiful. wouldn't change a thing
required very little adjustment at all. just some tweaking for personal preference
