This head is a resonator, so it really pumps your kick up, especially for Rock music. The premade mic hole is perfect. I love this head, especially when used with the matching beater head!!! Gold man

If you are ever looking for a solid resonant head for a great price then the EMAD is for you. The punch out hole creates an amazing tone for the bass letting it show who’s boss! Even decided to remove the pillow in the bass cause the EMAD begs for sound it creates to be heard. Evans has always been the heads I’ve went after ever since watching Jay Weinberg of Slipknot play them.

My bass drum has never sounded so good or looked so wicked cool. There’s a small foam dampening ring around the inside of the mic hole that cuts the overtones out perfectly for my tastes. I’just recently started using the Evans heads on the batter and resonant side with no pillow or blankets stuffed between and the sound I’m getting is the best I’ve ever had on this drum.
