Product Rating Product Review Ok so I'm one of those custom shop American vintage etc. snobs. I hate road worn. I hate signature series. This guitar feels and sounds like a $4000 custom shop 66'. It sounds like a Pbass. What I noticed the most is how well it sits in the mix with a prophet 6, Moog sub 37 and Juno x all at the same time. There are no dead notes. Some say it lacks bass, but no it doesn't. It's a Pbass with a moire focused tone that sounds classic. It's much better than the American Performer and the Mexican Vintera one. It sounds like a real legit custom shop or rather American Vintage II if such a thing existed. If this were American made it could easily fetch $2000-$2500. The neck feels amazing. The tone sits in the mix BETTER THAN a PBASS! It's just not as "deep", but that "deepness" of a real Pbass is lost anyway in a thick mix with synths. This bass sounds like a record out of the box. JMJ is a true sympathizer with the poor hardworking musician and really put something together that's great unlike other signatories in the Mexican arena. My only complain is the E and A strings buzz as it was set up like crap from the factory - to be expected from the Mexican lineage. JMJ is simply a must have for the studio - period.

Perfection

Product Review I honestly had no idea who JMJ is but I was interested in a short scale bass and this checked all the boxes. The relic job is incredible including checking on the neck which is so comfortable it’s insane. No sharp frets just perfection. The controls actually work and the sound is killer. Flat wounds are the icing on the cake. This is one purchase that lived up to the hype. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now and I would definitely buy it again.

Extremely poor quality control

Product Review This is a replacement for the first JMJ I received with a dead pickup and/or broken tone pot. The replacement has a functional pickup and (mostly) functional pots, but has issues everywhere else. The bridge is not grounded. Routed for a ground wire from the control cavity to the bridge but no wire. E string slot on the nut too close to fretboard edge. Scratchy pots, prob due to the sloppy soldering. Control plate screwed in askew and doesn't cleanly meet pickguard, and two of those screw holes are stripped. Bridge saddle springs too short and rattle. I'm only keeping it because I adore the configuration of this bass and will put in the time/money to fix it.

Product Review I wanted a worn look because I won’t play it enough to make it worn out. This arrived beyond expectations, have had people ask how long I have had it to wear it out like it is. I tell them I bought it this way and they are amazed at the appearance and the sound that I produces. It sounds amazing.

Product Review I love this Bass. Feels great to play. Sounds great. I originally bought the the daphne blue. Love it. Bought the black a couple years later. No regrets. Absolute beasts. And beauties.

Product Review I have done really well with Fender the past 10 years. Everything I bought has been amazing. I expected this mustang to be as well. I mean, It LOOKED cool for sure but I need it to do its job. I am betting that I just got a lemon or something but there were strange overtones and the timing wouldn’t stay accurate. The purchase before this was a mustang guitar and it played like a dream right out of the box....anyway just my experience with this bass.

Product Review I have always coveted the punchy mid range sound of Fender Precision basses. I have owned many over the years only to end up selling them because of their uncomfortably wide necks. This guy gives me the P bass sound and is a dream to play thanks to its short scale makeup.

Product Review I can’t say enough about this bass! One, the recorded sound of this bass is perfect. It punches through the mix ease. Justin is a meticulous bass player and thought a lot about the details to put into this bass. I purchased mine in black and the finish almost looks dark blue in certain light. I love the road worn look. It makes me feel more comfortable not being scared to ding it up a little. Every time I pick this bass up it inspires me to play more and longer. Oh, snap...there is a detail that i did not know about prior to purchasing. If you buy the black model, an additional black relic pickup guard is included in the pocket of the gig bag. Who does that! That’s a huge bonus gift.

Product Review So happy with this purchase! This bass just exudes quality and style. Other than the MX printed on the headstock, I would absolutely assume this was American made based on the build quality. I will never sell this bass! Buy it!

Product Review First of all, this Bass does NOT feel like a MIM Fender Bass at all. The ONLY negative to this Bass is that the frets could’ve been finished on the edges a bit more. Otherwise, this is a phenomenal Bass. My guitar friend grabbed it and played it and said that it’s the best feeling Bass he’s had in his hands in a long time. He asked what I paid and after I told him he said, “is that it? It feels like a much better Bass than that.” The vintage road worn look on this Bass looks very authentic. Most of the “road worn” Basses I’ve seen look veryZ cheesy. This one was very well done. Now how does it sound in the mix? It cuts thru the mix so much better than my MIA Fender Jazz that it’s hard for me to believe. I love this Bass. I love it so much that after I pay this one off, I’ll probably buy the black one too.

Product Review This Mustang bass is somewhat of a genius of a make by JMJ. It plays so well and the fact that it came with the flatwounds really made the experience worth the shot. Transitioning from my Precision American was a jump in the dark but I was immediately impressed by the tonal capabilities this thing had. And the size feels perfect. Short scale with a beast tone. And im not even plugging into a pedal board. Best bass I’ve owned to date. Hands down! Thanks American Musical Supply.

Product Review Fender has long made the roadworn line and they have garnered their share of love and hate. This bass is possibly the shining star of that line. The small upgrades fit and make for a truly outstanding instrument.

Product Review As a country music bassist, I wanted a short scale option to my vintage P Bass. After searching many options, I found myself looking at this Fender JMJ Mustang which was far more appealing than the P/J Mustang cheaper option. I was skeptical of the worn finish but when it arrived I honestly fell in love immediately with the aesthetics. The wear is tasteful done and it just has a great feeling neck. I can’t stand heavy gloss and the “worn” feel of this neck is perfect. The pickups sound amazing. It’s glorious. The tone knob is very usable. I EQ my Markbass amp flat and this bass sings. Looking forward to testing it on the road with my Tech 21 bass fly rig running DI through large PA systems. I’ve never been one for “artist model” guitars but it doesn’t hurt that Justin and I share first names. I highly recommend this bass.

Product Review I play guitar mainly, but I’ve always been intrigued by the bass. A few of my friends play, so I have years of experience messing around, but I figured I’d get myself one of my own. I chose this because I’m a Fender guy, I dig JMJ, it looks incredible, and I like short scale guitars. This thing is beautiful. Road worn finish is something else, I love it. Played good out of the box. Of course a little tweaking is always necessary, but pretty much good to go. This thing is just a blast to play! I’ve neglected my guitars because of this little monster and I’m loving it. My friends that play bass full time like it too. Highly recommend this bass, and American Musical is a great company to buy from. Fast shipping, well packaged, and easy payment plans. Go for it!

Product Review I love this Fender JMJ Mustang bass! It plays and sounds GREAT! I've had it for 2 months now, and STILL I have not had to adjust the neck or string height! Straight out of the box from AMS, and it's been kicking it at my gigs since day one! All I have done to this bass, since I took it out of the box, is to change the factory flatwound strings for round wound strings, and it sounds just as good and growly and bassy as my '73 P-Bass I had been playing at my gigs! BUT...since I bought the JMJ, I have left my vintage and valuable '73 P-Bass at home, and the JMJ has been my go-to gig bass. I play the JMJ through my Ampeg 1-15" and 2-10" stack, and the JMJ gets the job done and it's fun as heck to play! This bass gets 10 out of 10 stars from me!!

Product Review Very happy with this bass, feels and sounds great. I played Mustangs in the 70's and this does not disappoint. Pickups are nice, don't know whey they switched to the PJ configuration on the other models..The only negative thing I could say is that it was not set up at all when I received it. The intonation was WAY out and the strings were all buzzing as if there was no set up at all in the factory. I have grown pretty accustomed to instruments being very playable out of the box...I adjusted everything and it plays excellent now...fun bass

Product Review The road worn is not over done. as to be expected all hardware is also road worn. Now for the feel, it is amazing the neck feels very comfortable and fast no dead notes. The body resonates very well even with the flatwound strings. Intonation was a bit off not a problem. The volume tapers off consistently and the tone works very well dark to deep. The pickups are the stars here very punchy and well defined. Observations: this mustang bass is a bit longer than a fender music master so be careful if you buy a case. It is a keeper.
