Product Rating Product Review This is a really cool and fun instrument. Only taking off one star because it doesn't come properly set up. Like, at all. But if you know what you're doing you can make the adjustments and have a very cool bass.

Product Review After doing my research as us Fender techs do when needing to solve a problem, I put the bridge made in England specifically for about three Fender products that are similar,,this made the Squire to me, personal opinion as good or better than Fender Am. Made version. No intonation problems , set up as fast or faster as a regular six string. It's a fun addition to tunes from the era in which it was popular all the way up to now.

Product Review Fender should make a legit 6 string bass tuned B to B. All they have to do is to use a stronger neck that can handle standard gauge strings.

Product Review finish was nice, thou it does need a good setup, it plays fairly good out of box. Does have some fret buzz on low e but should be better after new strings and set up. I'm pleased with it for the money can't beat it.

Product Review Mixed emotions about this purchase. I was excited about the musical possibilities but instead of getting right to playing it, I had to do quite a bit of set up and forum hunting to solve some problems. The neck had an enormous amount of relief, had a couple of undated frets, the pickups were too high, the intonation was way off and had to reverse the bridge to intonate the low E string. Still working on an issue with excessive harmonic overtones on the low E string. I have experience working on guitars and setting them up. If you don't, avoid this model. The QC in Indonesia is atrocious.

Product Review good idea but don't understand why they used a soft plastic nut. This will have to be replaced up front. Mine had bad neck pocket. Low E off neck at 10th fret. Sent back and got Schecter Hellcat VI

Product Review I've wanted one of these for years. Couldn't ever swing the prices for the vintage models or the MIJ reissue. I can't put this axe down. It's got a great vintage tone that works well with the 60's era music I primarily play. Great bass for guitarists and a great bass for bassists looking for something different and unique to experiment with. Quality was great for the cost. I inspected it closely, and the only issue I noticed (as some others have) was that the filing on the nut seemed a little rushed and sloppy, but not enough to detract from playability, hence my rating of a 4. I think it will work great for country tic-tac bass, vintage 60's surf, 60's British Invasion and probably some jazz. The floating tremolo is interesting. I don't anticipate using it that much, but it will be cool to experiment with. I like the 4 bank switching system. I studied the Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI, and decided to go with the Squier based on the 4 switch bank as opposed to the Strat-style blade switch. The bass strangle switch really makes this instrument! This switching setup allows for so many versatile pickup combos that you can really get any sound you're seeking out of it. Not as heavy as my Jazz Bass, pretty close in weight to my Telecaster. It doesn't seem like it'll be a shoulder/back killer. The neck was a little wider than I had anticipated, but it's not a problem. The low E string is a little "floppy", but that can be remedied with a little modification to your playing style. I play bass with a pick and mute the strings with my palm, so the complaints many players have about the closeness of the string spacing is not an issue for me. Tone was great. I played it through my Orange bass combo and was able to get smooth, mellow bass sounds very similar to my Hofner Ignition violin bass (also a short 30" scale bass). I was impressed with the bass tone, given other players seem to complain that it didn't have enough low-end sound. Also got great treble sounds using the bass strangle switch and the bridge pickup. No complaints. I don't any reason why I couldn't use this as a primary bass guitar at a gig. It doesn't have the extreme low end like my Jazz Bass, but it's got some interesting character and versatility. I thought the finish was pretty good. Not as great as an American, MIJ or MIM Fender, but for the price it's a great looking instrument. I'm happy with it. Great value for the price! I can't complain at all. I haven't purchased or played the newer Squier instruments in years, but the Bass VI is making me seriously consider purchasing the Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster too. Intonation was spot on, neck was straight, saddles were well adjusted and everything was fully functional. All I had to do was tune it up and plug it in. I was impressed that it shipped in such great condition, for not being shipped with a case or even a gig bag. I wish Fender/Squier would remedy this by throwing in a padded gig bag for a little added protection. Even w/o a gig bag, it was double boxed and arrived in perfect condition.
