This was my first order from AMS and I was stunned at how fast it was delivered. I ordered it around noon, and had it by 11:00 AM the next day. Pretty awesome.
So is the guitar. The Explorer is a beautiful instrument. Perfectly balance, comfortable to play, and sounds great both clean and dirty.
The fit and finish were perfect.

This guitar absolutely rocks! I thought it would be a heavy guitar but it’s actually pretty light overall. I must say this particular Gibson is on the money even though I’ve heard about less than stellar quality over the last few years. Great action, ready to play straight out of the case.

Gibsons quality has vastly improved over the past few years. The wood grain and the finish just pops out. I really like the excellent fretwork and playability right out of the case as one would expect. I have had it a few weeks and I cannot put the instrument down. This guitar exceeds my expectations. Thanks to AMS wonderful payment plan owning these gibson guitars is a reality. They are investments and will always maintain value.

I have always wanted a Gibson Explorer, being a kid growing up in the 80's. I'm not the greatest guitar player, but I can't put this guitar down. It sounds so amazing through my Marshall amp. I was having trouble finding one, but luckily AMS had one. I bought it immediately. Very happy with this purchase! Thank you to AMS, for always having the gear I am looking for.

Always dreamt of getting myself a Gibson Explorer, and thanks to AMS I am now a very very proud player amongst the Explorer ranks. This guitar is weirdly one of the most comfortable guitars to play. The weight balance has been superb so far for playing while standing up. Playing while sitting is extremely comfy, almost like it has its own built in arm rest! Neck is slim, but doesn't feel as thin as the profile my SGs have (not sure if it's a mind thing), and is super fast and slick to run up and down. Pickups sound tremendous. The neck PU has a nice warmth to it, but not muddy, with some high end to round it out. Bridge PU has some amazing tone to it, far and away one of the better sounding bridge PUs I've heard/played. Always buy a guitar that inspires you to pick it up and play, and this one inspires quite a bit for me.

I’ve owned many explorers over the years and this one is becoming my absolute favorite plays and sounds amazing. Out of the box I found no flaws at all and with a minor set up it was ready to shred didn’t play bad out of the case action was just a little high for my liking. The neck feels amazing and fast the only thing I’ve done was swapped out the chrome hardware for black I would highly recommend this explorer you won’t be disappointed!!!!

The guitar arrived early. The seup was perfect. Intonation was right on. Great tone clean or dirty. A very comfortable guitar with complete access all the way down the neck. Perfect balance with no nose dive.very easy to obtain with the payment plan.AMS, you knocked this one out of the park! Thank you.

I wanted a gibson, and something different looking.
I have my fair share of fenders, epiphones, and Ibanezs. I wanted something different and sounded classic. This was it. This guitar sounds and plays great! From blues, classic rock, jazz, to anything you want. Feels great, looks great, plays great. Got my first Gibson and im glad I went with this one. And as always, thank you AMS!

I have had my Explorer for 2 months now and I couldn't be happier. I am really happy with the finish and feel of the neck. The Burstbuckers sound really good especially through my Marshall. I like the fact that it weighs a lot less than it looks, the neck size is comfortable as well. Out of the box I did have to adjust the truss rod to take out some relief, the neck angle on the Explorer is much better than my Firebird or my Les Paul. I would buy this guitar again. I am pleased with the fret work as well, no sharp edges.

The Gibson Explorer is the guitar I have wanted since I first started learning the guitar in 1982. I am overjoyed at the style and quality of this instrument. The neck has the most amazing feel. From Country music to Heavy metal this guitar plays smooth and solid. The setup out of the box was perfect. I have never experienced that with a new guitar. The tone of the guitar is exactly what you want from a Gibson. Every note is clear even when overdriven or modulated. The finish is flawless and it just looks cool. The case is a great addition and keeps the guitar snug. They appear to be custom fit to the instrument.I am a very happy Gibson Explorer owner. Life is Short Play Gibson

this is the second explorer i have bought from AMS, and both guitars arrived to me in perfect condition , and gibson quality is great perfect . intonation perfect ,string hieght perfect , no fret sprout and all around beatiful guitar .and i have to say that AMS has the best employees because they go out of there way to help youget the gear you need . I've owned countless Gibson Guitars over the years and believe they are building some of the best Guitars out of Nashville in the Modern Era. What I like? Gibson is building guitars that really honor their tradition and past - this explorer is so awesome I can't put it down. I felt the same way after recently also adding a Gibson SG Jr - the fact that the production guitars today are also being run through the plek machine makes them as perfect playing as possible.
The Burstbucker Pickups are Lights Out and I consider myself a pretty picky guy when it comes to electronics and wiring detail - These to me are perfect for this guitar and the pots taper a bit better than maybe i expected but lately i have had some 50s Central Lab Clones instead which really do a fabulous job of volume and tone taper - also prefer 50s wiring specs as well but all in all the BB pickups out of the gate are really a great match for this guitar.
The neck plays fast and smooth and again because it has been through the plek machine, every spot on the neck plays as perfect as you can expect.
I do personally wish maybe these had a bigger fret wire but that absolutely doesn't hinder my review of this instrument. The Natural Wood and Finish looks beautiful too!! The other bonus to me with this guitar is the factor case that comes with it is fabulous - top notch quality and massive!!!
Thanks Gibson for continuing to improve and provide what i think are the best guitars out there at an affordable price.

The neck moved a lot over the first 7-10 days and the nut needed some work on the low e string. (Built at the end of oct 2020)
Now that it has settled in the dry colorado weather it stays in tune, plays great, it's lightweight, and sounds good plugged in!

So I was really excited to see Gibson put these out in natural again. At first glance, the guitar looks incredible. The problem with the guitar I recieved, is that Gibson did not clean off the adhesive of the set neck before applying the clear coat...pretty poor quality control on Gibson's part. AMS, as usual, is awesome to deal with. They offered me a discount because of this and I've decided to keep the guitar. On the positive side, the fretboard itself is amazing...really comfortable! The burstbuckers are really great rock n roll pickups! I really dig the sound. If you are picking this one up for 80's thrash ala James Hetfield, these are probably not going to be the right pickups for you. But that, like everything is just an opinion, it does do high gain well and you might love the sound of these with high gain! I hope that if read this and purchase one these, just inspect it closely...ive bought Gibson's all my life and have never had an issue until now! Cheers!

This guitar is exactly what I was hoping it would be.it covers a lot of territory in its versatility going from jazz to blues to rock. The sustain of the guitar is incredible and the Burstbucker pickups give you “that classic” Gibson sound.
I’ve owned a number of guitars and they all sound different. That said, there’s just something about a genuine Gibson that sounds only how a Gibson can sound. Especially through a Marshall style amp.
I’ve had the guitar awhile now and will be keeping it for the rest of my life. It’s that good.
The included case is high quality and the added case candy is also very cool...kinda like the old days.
AMS also made this super easy with their payment plan and shipping was fast on shipping it.The guitar has exceeded my expectations and am now looking at the Flying V as well.

Own many guitars this is now my new favorite,
Plays great right outta the box and in looking it over very carefully VERY well made. Looks like Gibson quality is back flawless finish, great sounding pickups fast and very comfortable neck . The only thing I changed is it comes with 10's and I dropped it down to 9s without having to tweak anything . If you've been sitting on the fence
about buying this one get off of it and pull the trigger .
