I was super exited about this guitar, I have never owned a Gibson until this purchase and I couldn't wait to finally get my hands on it.
upon arrival of the guitar I took it out and and noticed it didn't seem like a new guitar to me seeing how it had pick marks all over the pick guard, as if it was a guitar on a shop wall that everyone demos. wasn't that big of a deal to me but I did order a supposedly new guitar and got one that clearly was played a lot. anyway I tuned it up and the guitar had fret buzz on the G and D strings in several different locations, and the quality was just not there for a 1,800 dollar instrument.
maybe I just got a lemon but it had supposedly passed a 55 point inspection and I have no idea how that guitar passed inspection, I own several Gibson knockoffs and epiphones that are way better instruments compared to the one I received.
If you're considering this guitar I hope you have more luck than I did.

This guitar is just completely untouched and spec'd so perfectly. Right out of the box it was set up great, Gibson QC isn't as bad as people are constantly knocking them for. The guitar plays so well, is lightweight, and the see P90s seriously rip! They are rude, keep up with humbuckers, and man...it is a rock/hard rock MACHINE! The neck is bulky, but it is exceptionally comfortable. With the lower action, it doesn't feel cumbersome at all, but rather it feels like it belongs in the hand. The TV Yellow is also right on and shows no streaking nor blemishes. The case is stellar as well. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this guitar, as I think you would be as well.

If you are a fender fan who still wants that tone and needs the flexibility to have a guitar growl a little more when you need it, this is your man folks. I ordered the unit and it came out of the box ready to play. At the first rehearsal all of my bandmates were mouth agape at the sweet tones this bad boy could produce. Great action, stays in tune and lives up to the legend. Buy one as soon as you can.

I finally purchased one and was absolutely blown away when it arrived. The TV yellow was a bit different from the stock photos and the early versions. It had that perfect see through finish and looked closer to the custom shop version. That setup and pickups were amazing right out of the box. I would highly recommend buy one of these. Plus AMS is amazing!!!!

Wow wow. What a beautiful guitar. More of a greenish tint to the grain and lighter yellow then have seen. Different shades by gibson. Minor adjustment needed but plays nice. True Gibby P 90 sounds. Kudos to AMS gor the quick shipping. Guitar was well packed double boxed. Perfect companion to the junior model. If you are on the fence, pull the trigger and but. With the 18 month plan, highly affordable!!

Another year another great guitar. This is my 4th guitar I have got from AMS. The service is just awesome. Shipping so quick (next day) - the TV yellow finish is something I have wanted for while now. My example is sweet. Loads of wood grain. If you like P90's this is for you. This guitar just feels good to hold and to play. The action was a bit high out of the case, but that was fixed easy enough. I am going to look forward to playing this for years to come.

Factory setup left little to be desired. Wraparound bridge is an acquired taste. Tv yellow finish is superb. 50’s spec neck is sturdy but those wanted a thinner more comfortable neck may want to consider other models.

This is my 6th Les Paul, I almost didn’t buy it but man am I glad I did!!!! This guitar is so resonant and sounds so SO good!!! My favorite yet and feel I won’t need another Les Paul! This thing really has some tone! The neck is chunky but feels great and can we talk about the beauty??? It is GORGEOUS! The TV yellow looks so different in person! Stunning even! I can’t say enough good things about it. Those P90s absolutely rock but are clear too!

Nice to have a P90 guitar in my collection. This thing has some serious bite with the bridge pickup and cuts through the mix very well. Played clean, it rings like a bell. I think every humbucker owner should try a guitar with P90’s. Mine’s got a lot of wood grain and looks really cool, too. My order arrived well packages and very fast with standard shipping. Would definitely recommend, even though I think it is a bit pricey.

50s thick neck which gives it its charm and easy playability. The P-90s are so articulate when you back down the volume, it responds right away. When you bring the volume up it growls with plenty of sustain! Buy it, it won't disappoint you. Sure it is still expensive for some people, but if you can get the 12-month option you will have a great guitar for many years to enjoy. Give Josh a call at AMS and ask for him, he is knowledgeable and cool. The Gibson Les Paul Special in TV Yellow is a must-have, and it might become your favorite.

I wanted a solid body guitar with P 90's, and while tempted to get the Epiphone version for much less, I splurged for the Gibson. Such a well made instrument that sounds incredible!!
I was surprised what the TV yellow looks like in person. It photographs as a bright yellow, but in reality, it more yellowish green with a wood grain look.
American Musical Supply delivered on their end,as always, and got the guitar to me in 2 days!

I ordered a Epiphone artist gold guitar. But there were shocking quality issues. I called AMS and they immediately played for return shipping and refunded my money. So I thought, I see what China can do, let’s see if America truly does it better. Wow is it worth the price to upgrade to Gibson. The Epiphone felt like a replica of a musical instrument. It looked good from 10 feet just don’t look close. Gibson is all about quality from any angle! You realy do get what you pay for.

I got the faded cherry finish. Played pretty good out of the box, I just had to lowered the action a bit. If you need that P-90 bite this is a great choice. Also if you like a fuller feeling neck this will work, very comfortable. Definitely a sweet axe!

I grabbed up one of these TV Yellow Specials while I had the chance! And I'm glad I did too! These are rarely in Stock. P90s and Neck Profile are AMAZING! Seriously. Fit and finish are great too! First of all, why I waited so long to add a Les Paul to the collection is beyond me. This thing is so comfortable to play, between the weight balance and the neck feel. I mostly play slim taper as I've smaller hands, but theres just something about this 50s neck. The feel is something I'd describe as substantial, like you're not just playing something that's super light and borderline weightless, but instead an extension of yourself. The range on the P90s is absolutely bonkers. The lows actually give you some great clarity, while the higher you go, the more it pushes and begins to punch. The neck pickup (and middle position as well) sound wonderfully warm and comfortable, especially through my Orange TH30. I do not understand why I waited so long to get my first Les Paul, and I can safely say this guitar will not leave my side for a long long time. Bonus points for how quick this shipped...ordered on a Friday, delivered on a Saturday! Freaking fast, and faster than I anticipated, but not complaining at all. Thank you so much AMS for helping me be the rock star I know I am!

I have had this about a month now and it has far surpassed my expectations. I cannot put it down! The neck is nice and thick which is different for me since I am a Tele freak but after getting the LP Junior, I had to level up to this. P90s are like my new favorite things. And the finish of this guitar....mine has a great blend of the yellow and the wood grain showing through. The bound neck is perfect. I immediately noticed the thick pick guard. cool black and white plus, nice and thick. Not the cheap plastic. My Teles are going to gather dust with this bad boy around now. Got a new amp = Fun times! Buy this guitar, you will not regret it. By one for a friend too!

Did I want it? Yes, but that’s because I collect guitars and I want them all.
This guitar is great. Pay the additional $$ to get the Gibson.
The Epi looks good for sure, but play both.
I did and there is a difference.

I have named her Dolly, she is a dream, I wanted a classic Les Paul with the P90's this is exactly what I wanted and it has played and functioned perfectly.
Not a ding scratch or funny smell the finish looks much more impressive in person.
For the Price and coming with a decent Gibson case, My Les Paul I got in the 90's had a pretty little slip cover this case did not, but besides that identical to a classic Gibson les paul case

I have been playing gigs, recording ect. For 20 + years. I own 3 other LP’s, an SG, Firebird, 2 Strats and a Tele. I’ve owned many more guitars but these are the ones that have stood out both in terms of sound and playability. This LP is a keeper for sure. The neck is spectacular! It sits perfectly in-between the chunky 50’s neck and the thinner 60’s. The P-90 and lack of tune-o-matic bridge gives it a very distinct sound. It’s a little more raw with very cool growl when over driven, but cleans up really nice as well.
If in doubt, go for it. It’s an amazing guitar and weighs less then most LP’s. The TV Yellow is super cool as well. Looks even better in person.
I have been and will continue to buy all my guitar from AMS. They are awesome and have been for over 20 years.

I have always wanted a TV yellow LP Special, I love the sound of P-90’s and the color I appreciate as well, including its historical value. And finally, here I sit with my own. The guitar is a tone machine. The sizzle you would expect from the soap bars is there in buckets and yet is some of the most articulate overdriven sounds you will find. Many compare P-90’s as being the middle ground between single coil and PAF. This may be somewhat true, though you can coax near any sound from this guitar when employing the volume and tone controls as intended. The controls on this guitar also work, you can hear/feel the range in the pots. That said, you can expect to relish in some very nice clean tones as well, middle position being my favorite for this work.
Guitar was set up ready to play once tuned. Everything is great in terms of finish and build, the case is icing on the cake at this price. I was surprised not to see a soft case offered, yet a quality hard case is included, along with a few extras that make this possibly the Best Buy in electric guitars at this price point and beyond.
I couldnt be happier with it and it fills my stable nicely now with my Hwy 1 Tele, 60’s Strat and G-45 acoustic. The special has closed up any gaps and affords me a complete tonal pallet for the music I aspire to play. Right away it was a new spark in creativity and I expect that to continue.
You have to find what is right for you when picking a guitar, the LesPaul Special TV yellow is a great place to begin your search and should be at least considered.

Hats off to Gibson! Mine was delivered two weeks ago, and I could not be more impressed!This Gibson Les Paul Special is undoubtedly the finest guitar I have ever owned! Craftsmanship is superb, right down to the very last detail and considering the legendary P-90 PUPS, how can you possibly go wrong? when she's plugged into my tube amp, I can't put her down!

I was expecting to get a quality guitar, but I was really surprised by the incredible growl of those P90's! The fit and finish is excellent, and no pictures really do the TV Yellow finish justice. While the bridge P90 handles gain wonderfully, the middle position tone really got me going. It sounds incredibly bluesy. The neck is thick and chunky, which took me a little getting used to, but it is very playable. The frets are really nice, and Gibson does the whole Plek thing to them, so they are perfect. The case is great (made in Canada). This guitar has exceeded my expectations in every way, especially the pickups!!!

I’ve had the about a half dozen Les Pauls. This one is, without doubt, “The One”. Paired with my Fender 50s Original Tele RI, I can now cover all the bases. With the LP Special in and Standard tuning, and the Tele in Open G, my Stones, Beatles, Who, LZ, Floyd, and Jethro Tull fix is on.

This is a wonderful guitar. The finish is spectacular, it’s the perfect TV yellow finish, with the grain peeking through. The neck is a little chunky, but very comfortable. This guitar is very easy to play, and the P-90 pickups make this guitar sound warm and woody. When you put some overdrive on, the tone opens right up and it’s the perfect Les Paul rock and roll tone. I’ve owned other Les Pauls in the past, and this guitar seems more user-friendly and has a special tone that will put a huge grin on your face. Pick one up, you won’t put it down.

This is my new favorite guitar. I've owned a dozen Les Pauls over the years, including a 2002 Standard, and this one has the best sound and playability of them all. While not an exact recreation of the original 1950s TV Yellow Specials (the tuner shafts are threaded with nuts and not pressed in, for example) it sure as heck captures the vibe. The finish is incredible. You have to see it in person to really appreciate it, because it is just transparent enough to see the wood grain beneath. The neck is comfortable, the fretwork is excellent, and the action perfect. Great QC all around. A bonus: this model includes the traditional TKL brown hard case, made in Canada, with five latches and red interior. This is a lot of bang for the buck from Gibson USA. And the sound? It's pure rock n' roll. If you're on the fence, my suggestion is to just buy it. It's a keeper.

I absolutely LOVE P-90 guitars. I’ve owned a few over the years, this one is probably the best. Bright and fat at the same tame, they are lime a Tele bridge pickup had a one-night Star d with a PAF. James Burton to Jimmy Page all in one guitar. I dig the light weight (less than 8 lbs) and the chunky neck. I like to take 2 guitars to a gig, and this is a great complement for either a Tele or a humbucker Les Paul.

Great 50’s neck and these P90’s are my favorite pickups. The wrap around bridge does tone magic! Out of the box guitar was set up well but there was one bad volume pot that slipped past final inspection lol I replaced that myself (YOU HEAR THAT GIBSON NASHVILLE). This is all around better than my Epiphone Double Cutaway Les Paul Special that has P90’s. You do get what you pay for here and great case! Buy it so they keep making them!

Quality Gibson guitar. Unplugged, all my Gibson's resonate with a clean vibrant tone. The P90 pickups are warm and sweet especially when dirty. The neck is on the thick side but not as thick as a 50's neck. The TV yellow adds a nice change to the selection of colors in my guitar collection. It's so hard to stop. Especially when AMS offes monthly payments.

I've owned dozens of juniors and specials over the years. This new run is more historically accurate, has a quality finish and is lightweight. Fretwork is clean and the P90's scream. AMS continues to make the buying process simple and worry-free!

I just bought this guitar and it’s awesome! The quality control is top notch. Gibson did a great job. Guitar plays and sounds great!! Do yourself a favor and get one.
