I purchased this clutch for use with my gigging hi-hat stand (Pearl H150S). The clutch fits both the Pearl and a Yamaha hi-hat stand at home.
Cheaper clutches tend to attach to the pull rod by a wing screw that pushes directly into the rod; this can be problematic as excessive tightening and continued attachment will "chew up" the rod.
This Gibraltar clutch instead, uses an eye-bolt that goes over the rod and tightens around the rod, reducing or eliminating the risk of chewing up the pull rod.
Quick release feature is simple and makes fastening to the top hi-hat cymbal very quick.

This is my second Gibraltar quick release clutch, I got it not because there’s anything wrong with the first one but because I needed to use another hi-hat stand for a gig and it had a standard clutch. Once you use the quick release you’ll never go back. Always smooth and positive. Highly recommended

This makes taking the top cymbal off of my hats easy. First few times I did it I felt like i was doing something wrong until I realized how simple it was. It holds up well, does not come apart and I like the fact that it "loops around" the rod and not digs into it like some clutches.
