Beautiful quality build. Very low action. Had for two weeks and can’t put it down. Exceeds my expectations. Gretsch has hit this one out of the park! The attention to detail is fantastic. Very quiet single coil pickups. No hum. I love love love the Torino Green. If you’re looking at Short Scale basses this should be on your list. Very happy customer!

Short scale,I bought the maple finish .Very impressed with the finish.Bought it to play at rehersals,easy to transport.I love everything about this guitar.The only Drawback I can note is that the guitar chord has a hard time staying connected.This may be the chords problem however I,ve played my gibson SG bass and fender precision bass through the same set up and did not expierence any connection problems.Only have this guitar for 2 weeks so I,ll try a new chord.Very pleased with this purchase.

Great tone, looks, action, body materials and sonically sound! I love the short scale and simple electronics, and pickups! First time out, this Bass blew me away with it’s shorter reach, and super sonic tone! You can’t go wrong with a Gretch guitar! Buy one now!

As soon as I saw this bass I had to have it. I’ve always loved the Gretsch brand and was looking for a short scale bass. This one did not disappoint. Mine was scratch n dent so they knocked off $50. Turned out to be a minuscule ding on the back just below the electronics compartment.
It needed no setup and sounded fantastic straight out of the box. After tuning it was ready to jam.
Solid bass, excellent price, and style for days.
Yep, I’m in love.

Ive been playing Bass Guitar since 1969. Ive owned some of the greats. Bought this bass about a month ago. This little bass is well built, handles like a Les Paul. The neck is so fast, the action is low and the humbuckers sound sooo good! Very impressed.
Meets almost my expectations. I may replace the strings with Flatwounds but until then, these will do fine.

I'm a guitar player and needed an inexpensive bass for recording purposes. This short-scale plays like a guitar. Right out of the box this bass felt and played great. Just had to tune it up. The fretwork is nice, the action is set well and the intonation was spot on. Well done Gretsch. AMS shipped it fast and well boxed. Great purchase!

G2220 Short Scale Bass.
I've been looking for something that would fit like a glove,fold into my arms like a loving child. A bass that gave inspiration and performed to my highest expectations. I found it with the Gretsch G2220 in a black finish. The bass was on backorder, but it arrived as indicated and it was a very welcome site. I played a Gibson G3 for many years, finally a bass that just works, the Gretsch Short scale.

Whether you are just starting to play bass, or a seasoned vet, this is a solid choice if you're considering a short scale. Well built, easy to play and easy on the bank account, the Jr Jet II is a marked improvement over its single pickup predecessor. The tones in all positions have character; the mini humbuckers give this bass a unique sound that works well on it's own and with effects. Recently, a guitarist I know came by to practice, picked up the Gretsch and ended up using it for hours. You will often hear reviewers say that short scale basses can be a gateway for guitar players and now I've watched it happen. I've been a bass player for 25 years, always happy to sing the praises of the instrument, but it's always more excellent when one like the Gretsch does it's own work by being a fun and accessible option. If you're considering one, I highly recommend checking it out.

I bought this bass based on reviews. It is everything as advertised. I got the walnut stain because I like to see the wood. It's more of a deep cherry reminiscent of an old SG. The mini-buckers are dead quiet on my DAW, and can be dialed to get that 'muffly-thump' clear up to that brassy-timbre of round-wound strings. It came packaged to survive a train wreck. Setup was close, but I always tweak to exactomundo. Very pleased with American's timeliness and service.

This is a really good instrument for the price point. Fit and finish are excellent. The knobs and tuners are super smooth turning unlike many imports in this class. It sets up to factory specs and at that point plays like a dream. The short scale gives it a really full low end that I like. I wish I knew about short the short scale when I was younger. The only gripe the action is so low that the bridge screws came up out of the barrel a little bit. I got some 10mm on ebay for a couple bucks and problem solved. You will be very pleased with this bass I think.

The bass is a little head stock heavy but mine play's great. Fret work is smooth feels like a much more expensive bass. Tuning keys are smooth as are the volume and tone controls.Finish is first rate my is in walnut. This is a quality instrument at a bargain price.

Are you in the market for a short-scale bass? Look no further, this beauty plays like a dream and packs a punch that you would expect at the price. Don't get fooled that the quality is as low as the price; it's not. Grab yours before someone figures it out and the prices are increased.
Highly recommended for guitarists looking for a bass to track with, the short scale neck and fret spacing isn't as difficult to adjust to as longer scale bass necks/frets.

Gretsch is normally not the first "go-to" brand, for most people, when it comes to basses(though a different story for guitars and drums). Happened to see this in a local store, and tried it out....and found impressive on several levels.
Sounds great, plays great.....and additionally, the walnut finish looks incredible. The only thing of concern is the weight and balance....the distribution of weight is slightly different than most, and you will need to adjust your strap accordingly.
It's something you should consider, if you are in the market for a short-scale bass.
