I've been playing for more than 50 years, 40 as a professional. Always been a fan of the other well known 'G' brand guitar, and owned more than 100 over the years. However, I have been sorely disappointed in most of them for reasons not relevant to this review. I I recently decided to try something different and first purchased a Gretsch 5422TG walnut finish and was instantly in love...so much so that I decided to try this 5422G-12 string. LOVE IT! Smooth as butter, and a rich, full chimney sound, great for solo gigs as well as funky rhythms in my blues band. The nut width is exactly the same as the 6 string model, but feels ever so slightly thicker overall, so it took a little getting used to, but no big deal. Crystal clear pickups, run either directly into a PA or through my standard Blues Jr amp. I am very pleased, and am still a 'G' man, but now my brand loyalty is to the other 'G' name, that being Gretsch. Wish I would have tried it sooner in my career. Very, or should I say, extremely pleased. It is a much better guitar than the price would indicate. Don't let headstock envy make you stick with the other brand. In my opinion, and being able to afford any guitar (except the collectable ones, that is) these Gretschs made in Korea can not be beat!

Straight out it glistens-- tuned it up - plug in an wow-12 string bliss in my hands-- plays so effortlessly- after playing an Ibanez accustic 12- it's like playing butter-!! Just sounds amazing-- now that I've got my Marshal stack-- have some fun this evening-!

This is the best sounding, easiest-playing electric 12-string I've encountered in 40+ years of playing and gigging. Really, I'm just blown away by the quality, attention to detail, and fit-and-finish. It is beautiful and as close to flawless as a guitar can get. My hat is off to the Korean manufacturer (SPG I believe).

Absolutely love the neck of this guitar, it fits me hand great. I've only had it for a short time but it's the one I keep reaching for. The actual quality exceeded what I expected.
The only problem is now I want a six string version of this model.

Guitar came already sounding wonderful and holding tune like a champ (especially for a 12 string). I play in a touring Petty tribute group and this guitar through my VOX sounds amazing.

The Gretsch 12 strung is a wonderfully crafted guitar that sounds better than it looks and it looks great! After a few adjustments to tune the strings I was playing jazz and rock tunes immediately. It is a great guitar for the price, extremely easy to play. I look forward to many years of enjoyment!

A beautiful sound plugged or unplugged.Action and play-ability right out of the case,not to mention the finish and overall look of this guitar is amazing.For a big body guitar it's very comfortable as is a Gibson 335.I would definitely recommend it.Don't take my word for it....try it for yourself and I'm sure you will agree.......

Absolutely beautifully crafted and I was very hesitant about the brand as i had never played one before . Also I was worried about the quality . No doubts now , it’s a fine instrument to play , sounds wonderful as a 12 string should ( George Harrison , Beatles , CS &N )

I have a 5422 6 string white with gold hardware and I play it and my Martin GPC4 the most, even though I have a Gibson Firebird, Les Paul (love of my Life) N225 and a tele and strat. I still play my Gretchens the most. Really great 12 string love it.

Good looking, nice sounding, well set-up, easy to play. Neck is a bit wide, but even with my smaller hands, not difficult to play. A bit 'warmer' tone than my previous Rickenbacker's (Michael Nesmith calls them 'more bluesy'). A nice guitar at a reasonable price - and a VERY welcome addition to my collection. Would recommend one to anybody.

Plays like an electric. Action is light on the fingers. Sounds great plugged in. Came set up well. Even more beautiful than the pictures. Played it at Church, loved the sound. Quickly becoming one of my favorite guitars.

I have owned this 12 string guitar for one year, and it is well worth the money. It looks beautiful and sounds great. The only problem is that it is not weighted properly, which is annoying. I highly recommend it if you cannot afford a Rickenbacker.
