I had had an eye out on a single cut guitar for a hot minute when I came upon this beauty and pulled the trigger. First, it comes with a professional set up meaning you don't need to adjust the intonation, truss rod or anything. The pickups have been adjusted to an appropriate height as well. Second, this thing rips. I play a variety of styles of music and use only this guitar. Third, this guitar handles high gain very well. I use this in a band where I use a lot of distortion, fuzz and overdrive and I feel like my guitar is just smirking being like "is that all you've got to throw at me?". Fourth, yes there's a fourth because I just thought of it, fourth, it's such a quality build.
If you play rock music and have been looking at single cut guitars, I cannot endorse this guitar strongly enough.

I friggen love this guitar! All of the hardware, including the knurled knobs, the bridge and even the strap pegs make this thing look like an old aircraft or car. I love the color (mine's black cherry), too. Best of all, the action is low and plays awesome!!

I ordered my new Gretsch 5220 Firestick Red Guitar, and it was delivered to my door in just about 3 days! It was ready to play right out of the box. Other than a few adjustments to suit my taste, It's great for the cost. I've not played one of it's more expensive brothers or sisters, but I can't believe any could play much easier. This is my 3rd Gretsch, and I love all three.

I just received our Gretsch 5220 in Jade Grey after eyeing it for a few years. I'd read all the glorious reviews and was prepared to be underwhelmed but it's all it was advertised as an more. The 2020/21 models seem to differ from some earlier ones in that it has a great black walnut fretboard as well as full sized pots. The taper is different from my other guitars but it allows for some great alternative tones. The finish is flawless and the Broad'trons have a unique voice as compared to both the standard probuckers that came on my Epi Les Paul as well as the Seth Lovers I dropped into it. For the price it is without question the best guitar purchase I've ever made when factoring everything in. I highly recommend this guitar to someone who is looking for a versatile guitar that is different from the standard LP/Strat/Tele.

Bought this not expecting the quality that arrived.
Out of the box setup was really good, fret ends nice and polished.
Finish is excellent, beautiful Jade grey metallic.
I did however polish the frets and open up the fretboard wood with a little 0000 steel wool before conditioning the wood with a good fretboard conditioner.
Also I have a thing for great tuners, the stock tuning pegs are good enough and you could get by without ever replacing, but this is one mod that I think made this guitar go from good to great and alleviates the headaches of sub par tuners.
My dads bandmate decided to buy one for himself in black he was so impressed with mine.

Gretsch guitars are known for their quality, this guitar is no different. The G5220 is a fantastic guitar for any price, but for what it costs, it's absolutely amazing! The playability is phenomenal, the tone is astounding. I really can't think of a better guitar for the beginner to professional level player. It's a super solid, all around great guitar for an unbelievable value. I highly recommend this guitar for anyone looking to expand their guitar arsenal!

I've wanted a Gretsch for a long time, especially a Jet. I've always dug the looks of George Harrison and Bo Diddley's Jets. It was nice to bring one home without breaking the bank and this guitar is worth every penny and then some.
First off, construction is impeccable. No sharp frets or cosmetic blemishes. The Dark Cherry Metallic finish is gorgeous. I'm not a tremolo guy, so the V stop tail bridge adds another touch of class. Really has that 50s classic car vibe.
I really like the BroadTron pickups in this guitar. They're like a PAF, only with a little bit of something else in the mix. They're very articulate and the volume and tone controls yield a nice range of tones when manipulated.
I've had this guitar for over a month now and it's quickly become one of my favorites. It's chambered body makes it very comfortable to play and it offers a unique sound. I still can't believe I got a guitar this good for this price.

I have had the G5220 for about 4 months now. It has become my go to guitar. First I will say the build quality is fantastic. I few minor set up adjustments to suit me and it was good to go. The guitar can cover all styles of music. From blues to classic rock it fits the bill. I have a Gibson Les Paul Gold top and A Fender American double fat strat that have been shelved for the most part. That is how good this guitar plays and sounds. The chambered body makes it liter than the Les Paul so after several hours of playing you do not feel like there is an anchor around your neck. Over all this was one of the best guitar purchases I have made. I would strongly recommend guitar. It is a great instrument at an incredible price.

I'm on a Gretsch guitar kick. This single cut, black Electromatic is an example of a great import that offers high performance and gorgeous looks. I have a Streamliner and Gretsch' quality is uniformly excellent.This Solidbody has a substantial neck-feel and fast, comfortable action. The tone is warm, sweet, and weighty. I play a couple or so hours at a time. It's difficult to set it down. It arrived in a box, inside a box, inside another box. Stuffed with paper wadding. Not a scuff or smudge anywhere. I love this guitar and still want to get the Semi-hollow Streamliner. Didn't I say I was on Gretsch kick? I have a feeling AMS has a plan for me.

I was looking for a sub-500.00 guitar that produces a quality sound, and this Gretsch 5220 does the job. Very well built, the finish is perfect, and paying it through a
Line-6 Spider-3 helps. Sound is between a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Telecaster. I will change the strings to Erine Ball strings .09-.42

Simply put this is a high quality beautiful guitar for the price. The construction, appearance and feel of this guitar is excellent. It has a robust heavy feel to it like a Les Paul. The components are very nice and its action and playability were great right out of the box. It does have a unique killer tone and I am liking the pickups. It could use better tuners although they will do for now. I would absolutely recommend this guitar. It is a great value for the price, I don't think that you will be disappointed either.

I own two Gretsch G5220 Electromatic Jet BT guitars. They both came to me set up very well. The action is great on both guitars and intonation was great when they arrived. The sustain is unbelievable. This guitar is now my go to. I've owned quite a few expensive guitars (I still do). I'm not going to be a brand name dropper, but my two Gretsch guitars play as well or better than any of them. I wish I had tried these guitars sooner. I could have saved myself a lot of money.

I bought this guitar site unseen. It arrived in great shape and packaged securely. The fit and finish were perfect out of the box, no sharp ends on frets. Binding is perfect and neck into body is a perfect fit. Colors on Gretsch guitars are great. They are all beautiful. Sound is out of this world. Took it out of the box and literally plugged it in and played it. It was almost even tuned. Sound is pure Gretsch, every note is clear as a bell even on neck pickup. No muddiness at all. Would definitely recommend it and definitely would buy it again. One of the better purchases I have made. Payment plan is also great. Make affording nice guitars easy.

I used this guitar straight out of the box on a gig. Love the fact that it has tonal variety and this is a great chords strumming guitar. Used this with a combo amp and analog pedals. If you need a guitar with high output for cleans this guitar stands out and delivers quality tones. Visually it’s amazing. But when it comes to the quality of the tuners it’s pretty bad. Tuning problems are such a big problem with people learning guitar. If they tune up and try to play along with a song they are going to be out of tune within a couple minutes. The Adjustamatic bridge has a lot of slop in it. I wish this was the Les Paul killer but I’m afraid an Epiphone is going to out play it. At least Epiphones come with Grover tuners. I had to order new Grover’s that AMI conveniently sells. I know that after that my tuning problems will be long gone. Would I buy another one of these? No way. Can I upgrade it and make it better. Yep.

Beautiful looking guitar. Sounds and plays well. Setup and intonation are fine. I give it 3.5 because I have a small grounding issue. There is a slight, but audible, electric "pop" when I touch the pickguard. Something I'll need to sort out, but not worth returning the instrument.

I'm a pro full time player, and I travel. I have been looking (unhappily) for one guitar that can fit many genres for the different gigs I have to take.
I was a long time Fender guy, then went PRS. I was loving the Starla I had with split coils. But on a whim, I saw this Gretsch BT and loved the color/profile/name. I'm in a band with the initials BT so I honestly was looking cause of the comic factor first.
The price is decent enough to gamble, and I'm glad I did!!
The Broad Tron pickups are killer. Very warm when you play light and brighter/bite-ier when you dig in. The neck feels great and is a bit of a shortscale - which I love cause I sing and smaller scale is less guess work as your face is in a microphone and you can't glance down as often.
The finish is beautiful on mine as it's not gawdy red but more of a deep wine color.

This is a really good guitar for the money. You really get allot for your money. The sound is really good for classic rock. Fit and finish are nice for a guitar made in China. I've never been a fan of instruments made in China but I have to say this guitar is exceptional. The only drawback for me were the tunners. I replaced mine and I am alot happier for it.

I bought this guitar because I just wanted to add something different. I must say the Casino gold is quite sexy in person!. It plays, sounds, and feels better than most guitars 3 times the cost! The build on it is flawless (only time will tell as I havent had it long)
I did not have to adjust anything right out the box. It stays in tune better than any MIM Tele, Strat, or Epi I have ever played.
The pickups sound great through my Mesa and my Marshall. While it is NOT the "Les Paul killer" it's closer than one would think for a 500$ guitar. I have found myself playing this one more than any other, live and at home.
If you are on the fence about buying this guitar...do it and you will not regret it!
Also as always AMS is Top Notch as always! I buy 90 percent of my stuff from them. Great customer service. I have been dealing with them for at least 25 years...yes back when you ordered from a mail catalog!

I've played a lot of "high end" guitars and I've played a lot of guitars in this price range. What a value! I could find no flaws in the finish. It had a better than average setup on delivery. Sounds great! I mean that.. IT. SOUNDS. GREAT. Gretsch has set a new standard. Are you on the fence about dropping a little over $400 on the G5220? This is a fantastic guitar for the price. I was looking for a non Gibson or Epiphone "LP style" guitar that didn't break the bank and this fit the bill nicely. I really like the pickups. They have that PAF humbucker sound but with a little added top end clarity. It really helps it to cut through the mix. The fit and finish on mine were superb, the neck was comfortable without being too thick. Gretsch really has a winner on their hands with their current Jet models!

I own fourteen guitars fender' gibson, g&l and an Ibanez and others. This Gretsch is the best one I have hands down. It's the first one that I did'nt have to set up.Everything was perfect and that's un heard of.These Broad tron pickups are great. The first humbuckers that i really like. I'll keep my telles but Gretsch is on to something. Thanks for a fantastic guitar.Next i'll get the double cut jr in gold!!!
