This Gretsch Flat top serves my personal needs for an easily playable, great sounding acoustic guitar, that sits on a stand in my bedroom, ready for action upon arising before getting ready for a day’s work! I love the vibe, and “mojo”of this G9500 Jim Dandy, as it looks and feels great each time that I pick it up! Warm, resonant tones fill my room, and hurls me back to yesteryear, as it’s Historical place stands firm as a rock! Whatever “bag” you’re into, be that Folk, Country, Blues or Rock and Roll, I’m sure that you’ll be well pleased purchasing this grand example in the world of acoustic guitars!

Just a really nice instrument for the money. It has a nice sound to it, especially when tuned down. It may need a setup but nothing major and is playable. I highly recommend it for anyone from beginner to those just wanting a different sound.

Bought this for my 8 year old. He has been playing for about a year. Wanted a small scale acoustic to take with him on vacation and family get togethers. Was surprised with the build quality for the price. Great little guitar to have laying around for practicing. love the finish and the neck. Good guitar for a beginner or child to start on.

Product Review
I’ve been playing guitar for over 60 years and needed a small guitar that I could just grab and play in my sofa. Was I surprised when I got it, the sound, the strings are great, the lows sound better than some of my other guitars, perfect out of the box, ready to play. Now I’m thinking to add a pickup to record with it... at my age small is good and easy to handle..
I recommend it very much... I travel a lot to go see my grandchildren and it’s hard to take any of my jumbo acoustics, now I have one easy to travel... You can adjust the action as you need to... to me is perfect the way it is... AMS is great and the fast delivery you just can’t beat it... Thanks guys...

Well built. It only has one
strap button which doesn't make sense but considering the size of the guitar that's really not a big deal as you would probably be playing sitting down anyways. Sound projects better than I expected. Handles slide playing and blues well for an inexpensive guitar. Overall very good little guitar for the price

Cool sound, plays well decent action, and well built, not a kids guitar. Bought this for my wife as one of her mother's day gifts because she likes to strum chords but struggles with my acoustic because she is built small. This guitar is perfect for her and she can't put it down. I have never been so tired of hearing hotel california! Well worth the money!

Product Review
I just received this guitar a few days ago... so perhaps it is a little early to leave a review. However, since I've been playing it almost nonstop, I think a review, a positive one at that, is certainly in order.
I bought this guitar to have something to pickup and play, a sort of couch guitar, if you will. I wanted something that I could grab quick when inspiration hit as well as something I could take over to friends' houses and not "worry" too much if it got dinged up or scratched, etc.
I am blown away by this guitar! Its smaller body is comfortable, the neck is comfortable, it has a cool old-school vibe. The sound is really what struck me; it has a nice, full sound. I wasn't expecting that at all! Lastly, the price... I was thinking 'ok, for the price i can take the plunge and if it's a cheap sounded, poorly made guitar then I can so be it.' That is certainly not the case here! This guitar sounds as good (if not better!) than other guitars that I have, or have owned, with a price

The perfect couch guitar

Product Review
These are loads of fun, great for sitting on the couch and strumming, without the super-thin sound you get from child's and travel-sized guitars. Sounds great for fingerstyle country blues or ragtag folky strums. The scale is perfect and allows for slightly heavier strings (I throw on Martin Retro Strings in 12s). I do wish Gretsch/Fender would charge a little less, but if you want the retro sound and style, but don't want to deal with the retro issues (bridge lifting, lack of truss rod, high action, etc.), this isn't a bad place to start!

Don't be fooled by the price and size the Jim Dandy packs a punch. I added a simple pickup and use it for live shows. If you search The Time Burners - Pistol Boogie you can hear what it sounds like on YouTube.

Product Review
Decent tone, action a little high for me but still playable. Intonation spot on, holds tune good with a little help with some graphite on the nut and bridge. Overall, this is an acceptable little instrument for the price, but I have to give it low marks for finish quality. Sanding swirls and gouges quite visible under the finish, very deep on neck

Product Review
I bought the vintage white model because I love white guitars, and all the reviews I read about this model were mostly positive. I just wanted a cheap guitar to mess around at home with. Well I've had it a week now and I love this thing. The action is kind of high so I tuned the strings down to C. I know right?! There's literally no fret buzz even at that tuning and it lowered the action a tiny bit and the strings are much more bendable. And it sounds awesome. I was very highly surprised and it's a blast to play. I've had way more expensive guitars than this that had more playability issues than this thing. The intonation is decent even at C tuning. The finish on the white is actually more yellowish than the pics...like it's been sitting in a smoky nightclub for 20 years. All in all this guitar is well worth the price that I think would be great for recording and even gigging with. I'm going to get the Chieftan Red version too when it comes out.

Great Little Guitar at Any Price

Product Review
This little guitar plays like a MUCH more expensive instrument. Its style and finish are a lot like the Japanese made Silvertone, Kay, Truetone and other TEISCO acoustic guitars from the 1960's (better action though). It has a sweet tone and it's surprisingly loud for a parlor guitar. I've only had it for about a week, but I put it in tune and it has stayed spot-on since I unpacked it. The only "problem" I've had is finding a hard-shell case that actually fits it well. I bought one for a classical guitar and had to add extra padding.

Product Review
I'm going on a long road trip and wanted a small guitar to keep me occupied during rest breaks. It's still a toss-up between this and my 3/4-size Ovation but there is no doubt this guitar is road worthy.
Great quality for the price. I only have one genre: beginner. It works very well for that. I freaked out over the apparent lack of a truss rod adjustment until I found it inside the soundhole.
It is easy to hold which is good because there are no strap buttons. The neck is comfortable. It comes with D'Addario strings in a guage that is too heavy for my taste, but it's good to know that it will accomodate a heavier set.
This thing'll knock the olive out of your martini. Excellent projection and a surprising amount of bass. It reminds me a bit of the acoustic you hear from the band Jethro Tull.
The stock bronze strings are loud and are meant to be picked. I'm going to try a set of Silk and Steels to make it easier to fingerpick. I expect to lose some volume with this change.
My first thought was "It's a plastic guitar!". As I fished the moisture absorbing packet out of the interior I saw that it is definitely wood. The satin finish was put on so well that it looks like plastic at first.
This is my first parlor-size guitar. I went with Gretsch because of my experience with their electrics. The G9500 has made me interested in trying other Gretsch acoustics and small-bodied guitars in general. (The only other offering I see at AMS in this price range is the Ibanez PN15.)
As I said the action is a bit high for my taste and the relatively heavy bronze strings make it too stiff for fingerstyle.
