Used to replace the batter side of a low budget drum kit. While it sounds much much better there are some overtones that are hard to get rid of. The rest of the kit was replaced with Evans G2 and wondering if I should have went that direction with the bass drum.

I recently put a set of Remo clear ambassadors on the reso side and emperor on the batter side of my set in the studio. I’ve used another brand for recording for years until now. The Remo set was easier to install than I expected but required a little bit more glue cracking and stretching but not a big deal. And once the heads were seated they hold tuning well. Better than I expected. The sound is natural and open. There’s less of a plastic sound if that makes sense. I normally tune the heads a minor third apart and this provides a solid note to the drum with a clear stick attacking that sounds more like an actual skin that a manufactured head. That’s what I like about the Remo heads and why I will use them again.

I know drummers love them as batter heads, but they also tune up easily and work great as resonant tom heads. Best resonant heads for my vintage Slingerland toms.
