Excellent neck allows for comfortable action and no buzz even with heavier strings. Floating pickup yields both woody jazz tones and crunchy overdrive at higher volumes. Woodgrain, binding and finish flawless.

Solid top - so considering that fact this jazz box is good value imo.
I play with an Erik Johnson sig Strat typically, so yes this gives me a different tone - a bit "woodier" sound - even with identical amp (Fender Mustang IV V. 2 - say in Intro Clean, or hooked to a laptop using a "jazz" preset)
I still have the strings that came with it on there - I do look forward to changing them to Thomastik JS111 - but hey...
The laminate sides and back are fine to me - one has to consider price point - the pickup is what one would want in jazz I'd say. The action is top notch. A great 1950s-style reissue.
Now to begin learning to play like Joe Pass...
