I changed brands after more than 20 years.

Product Review I have tried most of the large names since I started playing in 1987, and have played one particular brand exclusively since 1993. I had taken a break from playing for a year before and got an emergency call for a fill in gig. I hadn't changed my strings in seven months, and- as I was out of work- had no money to buy my preferred. The small shop I always got strings at carried generic strings for $12, so I stopped in. The owner sold me a set of Hartke strings for the $10, so I tried them They were bright, with tons of mid punch, and smoking highs to go with the bottom end. They felt great. They sounded better than any other string I had ever tried. Three years later, and all I will ever use is the Hartke .45 strings.

Product Review One of the best Roundwound bass strings i have ever tried. I was using Thomastik flats .this guy put me on to these Hartke 45-105. They are better sounding than All the other roundwounds And believe me i have had 40 + years playing the bass. I have played all the top brands .These strings have warmth ,attack. And tension is great on Pbasses ,my 68 telecaster bass sounds the best ever. Highly recommened. And very affordable. Bad speller sorry.

Product Review These strings are an excellent value Most likely a D'addario product made for HARTKE. I have gotten good results over time with these strings. I like the extra lights. decent feel on a FENDER P They work for me and sound good for a reasonably long time YES

Expected More

These strings feel very rough compared to other brands I have used. They also leave my fingertips black after playing for awhile. The sound is very bright, but lacks a good solid bottom on the low end of things. Your general opinion of this product. I was disappointed. You get what you pay for I guess. I'll be glad to wear these out and replace them. I expected more from the Hartke name brand. I don't like the feel of these strings. Very rough feel. Bright tone, but no low end. Very disappointed in the sound.

Hartke quality! If you like a bright string, look no further. These strings are killer! They last just as long as other strings i have tried, plus if you love the "new string" sound .. you can afford to change them more often :)

Very well made. These strings are very well priced... quality is fine... durability is comparable to other, more expensive brands. I have used RotoSound since the seventies... these strings compare well, but for a lot less $ Bright n Snappy!

Durable strings, and they last reasonably well. Dependable strings for less cash. They last just as long as any other brand. Excellent tone and easy to strobe tune to perfection Full range of tone for several of my basses. The dull finish is fine, but they do make your fingers very black.

playing strong and sounding great so far had nothing but quality and no problems absolutely love the hex-core and string quality deep booming low-end when you need it, high-mids brightness when you need it...these strings have it all! I love how they growl! Best strings I've played to date Bright, snappy, dark, and smooth. Anything you could need from these strings is there for the taking roundwound feel that does not tear up your fingers or fretboard

AWSOME!!!!!

Well made great sound and last as long as any "high end" string I have used.(GHS, Blue Steel, Dean Markley, Fender, etc.) I have used them all and paid up to $50.00 a set. These have just as good tone, rattling low, great mid and sharp highs as any I have played. Sound great on my Fender Jazz standard. I have used these for about 2 years. They are a little ruff feeling compaired to other strings, but this doesn't seem to effect th esound at all!

Great value quality string

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
I change bass strings every-other month because I like a bright, new sound, and these held up nicely with pretty heavy playing.

FEATURES:
Nice feel. With some of the low priced strings you get a rough feel and you pay for it with your fingers, but Hartke HSB450 are smooth and feel good through long gigs.

EASE OF USE:
Good packaging and easy to string.

VALUE:
This is the best value string I have ever seen. I buy them in the three pack.

SOUND:
Bright with a nice snappy tone. I like a string that sounds new for some time and with bell-like sustain, and the Hartkes delivers.

String 'Em Up!

Product Rating

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
I've had a lot of sets of these strings, and I've never had a problem with them. I like the hex core. It at least gives me the sense that the windings will stay tight. Like I said, never had a problem.

FEATURES:
Nice bright sound when new - pretty much like all strings. They seem to have as long a life as most other strings, but at a much better price point. I play a two-hour show three nights a week and my frets don't seem the worse for wear.

EASE OF USE:
The ball-ends are color-coded. Probably not necessary, but a nice feature.

VALUE:
Here's where this product shines. I change my strings about once a month, but I'm also careful about playing with clean hands - no fried chicken before the gig! I've been playing 30 years, and my ear can't tell the difference between these and almost any other string when they're new.

SOUND:
Reasonably long-lasting and they sound good! If you change strings fa

The absolute BEST bang for your buck!

By: Rickenbacker Maniac from Chesterfield, SC, USA      Submitted: 2/5/2008

Product Rating

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
The quality of these strings is exceptional. The windings will not unravel or tarnish. These strings can really take abuse. You can literally use one set for months. Through all kinds of temperature changes, humidity changes, sweat and dirt, these strings stay bright and true. I haven't had a string go dead yet and I'm still using the first set I bought and put on four months ago... and I've been slapping these strings hard.

Great strings , best value .

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
We've been using these for at least a year now and not once have we had a broken string .

VALUE:
At this price the value is very high .

SOUND:
The sound consistancy from string to string in each set is far better than what we have found in the D'Addario strings we were using before . And they hold there brightness longer so we dont have to change them as offten . The bass players no longer complain about dead sounding E or low B strings .

Hartke bass strings 3 packs for $20

By: Simon from Indiana      Submitted: 2/5/2008

Product Rating

Your general opinion of this product.

QUALITY:
For the price I'm very pleased with Hartke strings. I used to play GHS and Ernie ball, and D'adario. I like Hartke better, they are brighter and last longer.

FEATURES:
Strings man, not many features to talk about.

EASE OF USE:
Work like any other string except you have to change the oil every 3000 notes

VALUE:
Very much worth every penny. I use Hartke strings now period......

SOUND:
Hartke strings have nice bright, clean tone. Keep the windings down to 1 wrap around the peg and they stay in tune great.
