Product Review Country of Origin aside this axe is the quality you'd expect from Ibanez. The short scale is a delightful change from a full-size guitar. Normally the first thing I do with a new guitar is change the strings. The strings that came on mine are wonderful! I'll be poking around to find out what brand these are. Comes with the wrenches you'll need to make any adjustments. For anyone looking for something a little different this is the ticket.

Product Review I got this for my granddaughter because she is uncomfortable with a full size guitar since she is small. She loves it because it “fits” her shorter arms. It has a great sound and as always shipping was super fast and price is always good.

Product Review This guitar reminds me of a heavy metal version of the Peavey T-15 I had in 1984. That's a good thing. It is a lot of fun to play, and for the price point it really is a superb instrument. Beginners have it SOOO much easier these days! This is an old-school guitar, meaning all of the old-school tuning tricks will probably be needed. Check the bridge screws, stretch the strings, etc. If you want to get 80s crazy, boil your strings and solder the string wraps. Check the winds on the tuning pegs. There are some helpful videos online, but I didn't need them. This thing only needed a bridge adjust, a truss tightening (not much) and a stretching in. And it really rocks. I had it in my head that I would buy one of these and swap out all the electronics, because that's how cheap guitars used to be- but this is really not going to be needed. This thing is solid and ready to go. It has a really great, chunky sound through GuitaRig5. The second and fourth pickup positions are *Out of phase* which is GREAT. That's where the funk lives. I hope Ibanez sells a million of these to a million new young guitar players.

Fret ends are nasty, but guitar is good overall

Product Review Guitar is good overall, but the fret ends are nasty sharp and will cut up your hands, or your little one's hands. Either take it to a tech on arrival or buy a proper fret end file to knock the ends down and smooth thing out. I can't imagine a new player feeling this thing cutting them up isn't normal / how it's supposed to be, and instead just would abandon it. An hour with a file is how I fixed it, but it managed to put some non-bleeding slices in my skin, a child's skin is thinner...to that, once done, it's actually pretty good elsewise for the price and will do my son well if he takes to it; if not, no biggie too.

Product Review Well, I bought this for my granddaughter. The only fault I could find was pokey frets. I did dress the edges of the frets, and did a level and crown. It’s perfect now. Pickups were better sounding than I was expecting. The tuners worked well. The finish was flawless. As part of the set up, I tightened all the screws. The action was set low. I used 9.5 to 42 Ernie Ball strings. I am giving it to her for XMAS.

Product Review The neck seems more like cheap pinewood than maple, it has absolutely no fretboard. When you try to bend a string it feels like your digging into the wood like it was hardly sanded when made. This guitar would have discouraged me from playing when I was 11yrs old. Do not recommend.

Product Review This guitar is great for practice. My grandkids love it as it is more commensurate with their size. The guitars most outstanding feature is the 5 way switching allowing a single neck humbucker, a single neck single coil, dual humbuckers, dual single coils and a single bridge humbucker. Very clever.

Product Review These are awesome little guitars that's very well built. Fast playing neck with good pickups. Perfect for young shredders! I bought the Blue Burst for my 12 year old son who is learning to play and he wanted an RG like mine. Really impressed with this mikro RG. I may just get the Candy Apple one for myself after playing his. I like them a lot! And I have been playing guitar for 28 years.

Decent but major Fret Burrs

Product Review I bought this based on the great reviews. It is a decent little guitar for under $150. However, my thumb and forefinger are bleeding from the fret burrs. I didn't just buy this and give it to my kid. I played it. Approx. 18-24 hrs in 2 weeks. Needs re-tuning a bit as you go - nothing major for a small scale. But those fret burrs have me bleeding. Not kidding. I will have to sand them down and if you are able to do this - go for this cute little guitar. If not, it is rough on the frets (especially playing Barr chords). Fun but Ouch. I feel bad for your kids! :P

Product Review Bought this for my 9 year old nephew for his 1st axe EVER. I want one for myself. This little beast is, is.... Wow. Fast, built very well, very good tuners with the ratio to boot...must have for a mini. Awesome. Only ding i can give is for the frets that shred your hands while you shred. (Not horrible, but noticable). Nothing an emory board and a little free time can't eliminate. Great buy, fun axe

Product Review Awesome size for travel or for smaller hands (children). very playable and the colors definitely pop! It is everything you would expect from an Ibanez and nothing disappointed the moment I took them (2) out of the boxes. I would definitely purchase again given the choice. Great price but don't think it's cheaply made.

Product Review I have bought two of these over the last 3 years; a black one for myself and a red one as a gift. I've used the black one as a travel instrument, if I unbolt the neck it fits in my suit case along with my clothes, a Boss Me-70 and still doesn't exceed the 50lb weight restriction. It's no boutique guitar, but is certainly worth every penny, great for kids, travel, and anywhere a full size won't do.

Good Tuning Pegs, Great Guitar

Product Review I own short scale guitars by half a dozen companies, and the Ibanez Mikro is the best of them all. I have bought two of these, the overall quality is best, but most importantly, it has high ratio tuning pegs you NEED for accurate tuning on a short scale. Any guitar scale shorter than 23 inches MUST have 18:1 ratio gears, or you will waste hours trying to tune an untunable instrument. I love my other shorties; but they were all basically unplayable, until I got better machine heads. Other guitars are priced the same or a bit less, but then you have to pay $60 or more for decent pegs. First time buyers especially, get this first, and save the money and time it will take to change out the pegs.

Product Review I bought this as a travel guitar to practice on. The guitar played very well right out of the box, although I replaced the strings with a heavier gauge. It stays in tune very well and is actually a blast to play. This guitar is much more than I expected for the price. I think this would be an excellent guitar for kids and has turned out to be a great travel guitar. I would recommend this to anybody, just remember that this isn't a Fender custom shop guitar.

Product Review My daughter is now 110% re-motivated to play. The original strings were hard to keep in tune, but no problem staying in tune with the new tens. Sounds great. Very impressed. I find myself sneaking a lick or two on it often.

Product Review I bought this for my son, but I have been jamming on it a lot. It had great tone and awesome playability. The action is set perfect. Its smaller scale enables monster bends and squeals. I recommend this as a guitar for beginners, but it's also a good guitar to have around for experienced players.

Seems very well made and like anything else how you take care of it will also tell how long it will last. seems to be good very well made. Your general opinion of this product. I played this guitar in store after reading reviews.I love it as i have smaller hands for an adult player. This guitar has a comfortable fast neck and is fun and easy to play.Stays in tune well too. Fast and easy 3way selector is ok basic.very comfortable to play and fun too I love it.Very impressed. bright as well as dark depending on what pickups you use.Good for jazz to metal. The white and black both are nice with the sharktooth inlays a great touch. Good nice and low so easy to reach the 4th fret.Strings and action is easy on the fingers fast action too.
