I bought this bass for my son. It is lightweight, and has that easy to play SR neck. It also sounds great. The root beer color is a beautiful, and the tuners are smooth and don’t slip. The jack is the only think I’m not 100% happy about but it works. It is a great bass.

This bass is awesome, the eq/ preamp adds a ton of versatility. The body is light and shaped for comfort with a finish that pictures just can’t do justice. The neck has very slim profile and is about as wide as a four string p bass. I’ve found less issues with carpal tunnel using this 5 string compared to my 4 string P bass. Exactly what I was looking for.

Have always preferred the neck radius/action of an Ibanez whether a 7-string or a 4-string. For me, nice comfortable feel and a tone that's beyond the price. Good with a pick for metal and fingers for jazz fusion (I do both). Just adjust your action according to your playing style.

I had been debating about getting a 5 string but with the playlist of my current band expanding I felt it was time to pull the trigger.
I have two 4 string Ibanez SR series basses so it wasn't difficult to look to them for a 5 string.
I decided on the SR305E because one of my 4 strings is the SR300E. I thought that the 305 should be pretty much like the 300 with an extra string. I was right!
The tone, weight and playability are the same as its 4 string counterpart. I wondered how long it would take me to get used to the different playing style and the answer (for me at least) was immediately.
There's a difference in neck width (well yeah) but it's so slight that it feels like many 4 stringers. The B string is a major advantage and gives me those "extra" 5 lower notes without a drop tuner or re-tuning and adapting.
If you're considering going to a 5 string THIS bass is a great choice to make the conversion.

I played for 10 years with same ibañez bass. I stopped playing for 8 years, I picked bass again a few months ago. Tried other brands and nothing like ibañez bass guitars. Light weight ,great sound and tone. Highly recommend this brand and bass.

This is the first bass I have owned. I have wanted a 5 string bass for years and finally pulled the trigger and I am in love with it. The sound is amazing. It’s not to heavy and it plays so smooth.
I would recommend this bass to anyone who is looking for a great sounding bass for a great price.

I have an Ibanez 6 string but this is my 2nd Ibanez bass and my first 5 string and I can report that it performs beyond my expectations just as I thought it would.
If you're looking for a guitar that doesn't weigh you down this will fit the bill. Ibanez guitars have always been a little lighter than a lot of others and I find that a comfort since I am an older dude and feel my age.
I paired this bad boy with a 1000watt Bugera BXD15 and it rattles the rafters.
I would recommend this , and anything from Ibanez, all the live long day.

I've had an Ibanez 5 string base before & this one's even better.
Nice color & feel. Balanced just right.
Fast Ibanez neck & the controls are great.
The sound is incredible, and easy to dial in.
The volume knob came off first time I touched it, but a turn of an allen wrench fixed that.
I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I'm really impressed! Needed a bass just for recording and wanted a 5 string being I drop tune all my guitars. The flexibility of this thing is great. I love being able to get the sound I want then fine tune it in the daw. For stock pickups, it sounds sick right out of the box! Look...for the price, the sound quality, the feel, the flexibility of sounds you can get and it stays in tune!!...it's a must buy! I LOVE this bass!!

ive had ibanez basses before but this one is above and beyond my expectation , plays awesome and the electronics are killing great pickups and the selection is great including going from single tap to the combo selection , i highly recommend this bass. the neck is is smooth and easy to play and the sound is from smooth to aggressive, ive had this bass for 6 months now and i couldn't be happier with it

I bought this bass originally to play in a death metal/metalcore band that tuned to Drop A AND to play in my University's Pep Band. It did not disappoint for either.
For the metal band, this bass provided plenty of low-end playing in standard BEADG and Drop A tunings, but if I didn't have enough, I had plenty of tone options to help me out. The three-band EQ allowed me to fine tune the tone, whether it was adding more bass, scooping the mids, or rolling off the treble.
For my university's pep band, this thing fit right in! For a five string, the bottom four strings were just as easy and comfortable to play as the top (B), it sounded just as if I was playing a regular old four string. In addition, for more pronounced playing (We covered I Want You Back, Feel It Still, et al.), the coil tap/three way switch made this thing POP!
Aside from Metal genres and pep band tunes, I play a lot of progressive rock/metal in Eb tuning, and it sounds amazing all around the fretboard. Adding a bit of bass with the 3 band EQ, it produces a warm sound that is unbeatable!
For my first 5-string, I think it was a very good purchase for the money. Plenty of tone options, easy playability, and all the hardware is super solid (knobs are good, tuning is TIGHT, etc). In addition, this bass is beautiful. I added a solid black stripe down the center of my Pearl White and it looks PHENOMENAL. Very happy with this purchase.

I'm typically pretty anal about my gear and after playing bass for a few years I thought of moving up to a 5 string. This bass is seriously kickass. The tone you get from the stock pick ups was still impressive. I can play stuff from Mastodon, to Jim Croce, to Devin Townsend, to In flames, etc. It's versatile and I'm very very impressed with this bass. Once you have it set up, it plays like a damn dream!

I can see now why the Ibanez SR series basses have been around so long. VERY comfortable body, nice neck profile, versatile pickups and electronics.
The only cons were that the setup was a bit high (I can fix that) and there are some sharp fret ends (I don't have that file).
I'd give it 4-1/2 stars if that were an option.
I VERY good bass that I'd purchase again.

I had been looking to buy a 5 string bass for awhile actually, and when my daughter said that she was gonna play bass in the school band pit, well, that got my gears moving to see about getting me a 5 string!lol Don't get me wrong, I love my 4 string bass "Sally," an Ibanez GSR 200 Gio that I've had for about 11 years now, but since my daughter would need a bass to use while playing in the school band pit, I started looking at 5 strings more intensely! So glad of and for my new 5 string bass "Beverly," an Ibanez SR305E! She rocks well right out of the box for me! That top string is really low and brings more dynamics to the mix! Not to mention, the price, and the great bang for the buck! No complaints here, and it is all good in the bass world for me and my daughter! Glad I made this choice!??
