Product Rating Product Review I have several basses but never a fretless until recently. I landed on the Portamento due to research and reviews on other fretless basses. The sound and tone it produces is unique to any standard bass. The "mwah" sound when you slide up is a sound that stands out! The low B produces a great and smooth tone too. 5 eq knobs and a volume knob all for that perfect tone. The bass did come shipped with the strings a bit too low on the board but that was easily adjusted by raising them with an Allen wrench that it came with. Overall, I wish I bought a fretless sooner in my playing years because there's so much to produce on a beautiful bass like the ibanez portamento!

Product Review This bass is a gem, my first fret less and I love it, I was apprehensive about fret less but the frets are marked on the side of the fingerboard so you can see them. Piece of cake! Plays like absolute butter! A whole new world and with the 5 string you can get down and get low! I am absolutely amazed at the quality of finish as well. Still figuring out the pick ups tone and volume controls. Bottom line….Awsome Axe.

Product Review Being a player for over 30 years and this is a great bass. I am very happy with the playability and tone spectrum. This allows me to go from country to rock to R&B and all in between. I do not possess the freedom to have basses for each and every project or whim so this provides all that I want. The only negative I have is the piezoelectric pickup was a bit finicky until I did a setup on it. It is a dream to play.

Product Review This instrument met all expectations and exceeded them. The lightweight body makes playing comfortable sitting or standing for long periods of time. The neck is comfortable and it doesn't suffer from needing more than normal relief in the action; it didn't need any adjustment. Not a single deadspot on the neck; something I had never encountered on any of my previously owned fretless basses. The pickup blends (neck, bridge, and piezo) make dialing up a variety of sounds a breeze. The 30 fret neck makes for tons of sonic possibilities. This has been the fretless that I have been searching for since I started playing. Everything about this experience, from shopping, ordering, and receiving the product, has been nothing but top-notch.

Product Review After I received my inanez 705f, I began to play it. The tone was warm & alluring. This bass is in my opinion, the closes thing to an upright as you can get. Very powerful sound, the smooth neck & flat wound strings allows for fast action playing juat like an upright double bass. Thank you: American Music

Product Review First this is a really good bass guitar compared to other much expensive. Never had a 5 strings or fretless before , so I ordered looking to improve my abilities, I own 5 other bass guitars Pbass,Jbasses, Ernieball Stingray and a Rickenbacker great bass guitars, but this bass stand apart, design, fne wood grain used, sound and feel of this bass is amazing, it has the frets mark visible on the arm making this instrument easy to play, space between strings is nice helps with the transition from 4 to 5 strings, couple of days playing and you will feel at home...why I didn't bought this bass earlier will be your only regret.

Long time search for a sweet fretless tone, and think I found it

Product Review I've owned a couple fretless bass guitars, a 5-string Carvin Bunny Burrell & 4-string Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz bass. Neither generated the tone I was looking for, regardless what strings I used. Just not quite enough to achieve those cool horn tones or harmonics desired from a fretless. I recently took a shot and purchased an Ibanez SRF705 Portamento after looking at several other basses. This Ibanez was a great value and seemed to offer a range of options in pickup selection, with Bartolini mkI's at the bridge and neck and a Piezo system with separate tone and volume controls. You can easily dial in some super sweet horn tones, even with the flatwound strings delivered with the bass. The bass is very lightweight and the lower bout is cut deep enough to easily reach beyond two octaves. So far, I'm very satisfied. Maybe not the prestige of playing a Pedulla Pentabuzz, but excellent tone and value with the Ibanez Portamento.

Product Review This bass played great right out of the box. Fantastic tones, very playable neck, light weight, which helps when you gotta wear a bass for three hours a night. Incredible sustain. Very happy with it.

Product Review I would rate this a 10 if they had it. I bought an inexpensive Rogue fretless to see if I really liked fretless and obviously did. Looked at Fender, Godin to name a few and settled on this bass. I really shouldn't say settled because I love every thing about this bass. The neck is great; smooth, fast and has great action with zero buzz. It comes with very good flatwound strings and find no reason to change them. The EQ is excellent and with the 3 pick ups available a great variety of tone can be achieved. There is a bridge Piezo pickup with small adjustment screws on the back designed for different gauges of strings but at this time I have not tried them as I am still figuring out where I want my EQ set. This bass is not only fun to play. it looks great too. I have heard some complain that the back is cluttered. So what, not an issue. Battery access without screwdriver is great touch. 30 frets gives 2 1/2 octave upper register. Would not hesitate to recommend!
