The Jackson Adrian Smith SDXQ is a beautiful guitar with a quilted maple veneer that looks even better in person than it does in photos. The satin finish C-shaped neck offers great feel while the compound neck radius gives you the chunk your left hand needs for chords and rhythm playing while flattening out nicely for lead playing around the 12th fret. The Floyd Rose trem was really stable tuning wise and sounded really great when doing whammy bar tricks. My only critique of this guitar is its pickups. To use this guitar for gigging you would definitely need to upgrade the pickups. THe stock Jackson pickups did not have the power or clarity that you need for serious lead playing, but you could do this and the guitar would still cost you less than a Fender or Charvel with similar features.

I’ve been using these Indonesian made Adrian Smith Jackson’s since 2015. Played live and recorded with them. Real good guitars for the price. Floyd rose system works well if you know how to correctly set up & adjust

This guitar was a nice suprise. It plays just fine, the action fine and i was pleasently suprised at the tube amp growland warmth i got from these basic jackson stock pickups. Was planning on changing them when i got the guitar but after playing on it, im gonna leave this ace just yhe way it is. Nice job ams and jackson

A little while back I bought this same guitar in white with the black pick guard because I love an S-type guitar. I felt that guitar played and felt extremely well so opted to purchase the translucent green model as a back up and wow ... this one feels even better. It has quickly become a primary for me. Both came quickly and with a nice setup that needed minor tweaking that I would equate to player preference only. Great job AMS!!! And great job Jackson for building such a comfortable and beautiful guitar.

This is a much better guitar than I was expecting. The finish is flawless and the guitar needs minimal setup to play excellent. The pickups sound great and the neck is amazing.

I've used this guitar for about 5 gigs and so far it's working out great. The feel of the neck is great. I also have a Strat so it's nice to switch back and forth. I find I like the feel of the jackson and want to play it more. The only thing I know I need to do is to take it in to have the setup fine tuned as it is factory set but is real close to play right out of the box. For the money it was a great buy.

Got it and the trem arm was missing. Customer service determined it had to come from Jackson and helped me contact them. Got it in the mail 4 days later. The guitar itself is amazing! Good setup, nice action, now I need the Dave Murray and I’ll be just like Iron Maiden, minus the hit songs and the talent...

Out of the box this guitar was flawless .... great tone and feel .... I'm a huge maiden fan and strive for his tone ... well this one is a plug up and play ... right out of the box I changed the strings to beefy slinkys and other than the floyd rose spring tension I had no problems getting this beast in drop b ... I had planned on dealing out pups but those cheap jackson pick ups are not that bad ... bottom line if you want a good all around balanced guitar for under 600 bucks this is it

Just finished my first show (a 3 hour performance) with this guitar and I have to say that I’m thoroughly impressed.
I’ll start off by saying that I’m not really a Metal player (although I love Adrian and Maiden). I play mostly R&B, Funk and Contempory Jazz styles with a little Rock mixed in, for my work. And then, I jam on old school Metal at home for fun. I’ve been primarily a PRS player for over a decade but wanted to try something different.
For my gig, this guitar performed like a champ. The biggest surprise was that this guitar was just as beefy as my main PRS Custom 24. On the clean channel, the single coils can give you the classic strat quack, but it sounds so much fuller and thicker to the point that I needed to roll off some bass. When on the distortion channels, the guitar is QUIET—no noise from the single coils, even with huge amounts of gain. The humbucker screams and spits out pinch harmonics effortlessly. The maple fretboard is real flat and comfortable in my hands.

My guitar arrived yesterday and couldn't wait to play it. The paint job is gorgeous and the neck felt awesome. After I tuned it and started to play I noticed the high e would roll down off the fretboard anywhere I would play it. Already decided to find a different neck for it. Other than that this guitar has a killer look and sound.
