This is one of the better amp in a box pedals I've played. Simple controls and nice range of gain. Works well with my tube and SS amps. Great tone for solos!

I watched so many videos on this pedal before buying it and my only regret is I didn’t buy it sooner! This thing has such a huge sound man! It’s definitely the best distortion pedal I’ve ever owned and the one I’ve been looking for! This thing will never leave my board. It’s now my main distortion tone paired nicely with my earthquaker hizumitas fuzz pedal. The three band EQ has an impressive range as well. It makes this thing so versitile.

As an owner of several Marshall's, this pedal does in fact live up to the title of an amp in a box type pedal. I've owned the v2 of this pedal as well and the improvments in this version are well done!

This pedal is magic. Pure and simple. Great preamp in a box option, and also sounds great running into the front end of tube amps. Very flexible active EQ controls, and all the gain I need. Also sounds great if you throw it in a dual stage configuration either driving or being driven by another overdrive/distortion. I've tried it with both a Boss DS-1 and a TC Electronic MojoMojo, and both add interesting flavors to the tone. This pedals is a bit more costly, but worth it.

I had one of these a couple years ago,and i liked it a lot but didn't love it . then i changed my celestion to an emenince and holy carp,this is one of my favorite pedals now. the only reason i gave it 4 stars is that it could use some more bass and treble,but i fixed that with 2 mxr eq's .awesome tone !

it sounds like a marshall amp in a pedal; playing thru a clean solid state amp needed that marshall sound this pedal is it, was kinda worried about the price for a distortion pedal but definitely worth it

While there are many overdrive and distortions, amps are picky so there is always a need for choice. This pedal has a lot of gain, works very well with my sweet honey deluxe overdrive. More importantly, it works with my Vox, which are awful with distortion pedals. Marshall sound? Don't know, that pedal show did a side by side with an old Marshall guvnor pedal and it was the same but with more body. This pedal will probably fit your rock needs. I play alternative, Shoegaze, Dreampop and whatever. This is as much distortion as I want, it can get hairy, and that's awesome. Well worth the price, it could probably metal, lol

The box that roared. Man talk about an amp in a box, well here you go. Hearing is believing, easy to use, and to adjust to dial in all that power. Modeled after Marshall JCM800 it has to be tamed because this thing just likes to scream....Overdriven love

Just the Lead Tone I Wanted

The JHS Angry Charlie VS gives a perfect singing lead tone, which is what I was looking for. Single notes sound full and rich instead of the thin distortion sound that you get with an orange distortion pedal. This one will be a permanent addition to my pedal board.
