I was able incorporate this into my setup very nicely. I use an Uno Drum machine and I needed something extra to give my drums some more substance and this was exactly what I needed. It is perfect for creating little accents and blips that can follow or trail Or stutter along with the main drum line. I can make seemingly complex IDM beats on the fly and it's added a whole other dynamic to my DAWless setup.

Volca Heaven

This is the Volca Korg needed to make. This machine can command great sounding beats as well as carry the ability to generate synth and odd noises. Quite simply, you can explore this thing and zone out through this journey to find yourself somewhere in the future yet also somewhere deep in the past. I have yet to find a con!

The sounds and effect capabilities are really nice, hard to get bored when programming and designing sounds.... very easy machine to learn and implement!!!
One negative side note, you cant externally save kits and programs as data or midi.... only as audio

The Volca Drum can most definitely be a usable tool in your productions. It is
also great for just jammin' or experimenting with and can do so, anywhere! A great "couch synth" or "sofa synth" so to speak, depending on your preferred vernacular lol. The more you really get into it, the more capabilities you realize are available. This was my first intro into the Korg Volca series and will be acquiring each different model.
This is such a great time for gear it seems! So many amazing new instruments, with amazing sounds & capabilities at extremely affordable prices.. vs. not so long ago when anything under even $500 was rare and no where near as functional, let alone upgradeable! The fact that nowadays a quick update adds new features instantly to your gear is the best!!
AMS always deserves their props for being a great company offering competitive prices on gear with a way to get what you'd like on 0% intrest payments.. without needing to get another store cc!!! With fast and free shipping on top, it's a win.. 100!!!
If you have been curious about the volcas... jump in! at $150 you actually get some really cool, very fun gear!!

The More The Better. Volcas, That Is...

I have five Volcas now (Beats, Bass, Keys, FM and now Drum). They're all great but you'll need at least three to make music. If you go to Korg's Web page you'll see and hear two or three Volcas in every demo video. They're engineered to work together.
Drum is digital (vice analog for Beats and Kick). This means Drum has more functionality, but can be more difficult to work with. Similar to FM versus Keys.
Hit YouTube for tutorials or find an online course for any Volca you buy. These machines have lots of functions and functions within functions so I recommend finding expert(s) help online.

This is a brilliant machine. I like how the electronics on this device allow the artist to make sounds that no other controls would be able to create. With the programable drum kits, 2 layers of sound, and wave guide; and this machine allows the user to tune many aspects of the sound from every angle. The display is also worth complimenting because it helps as a visual guide, with shaping the sound.

For what it is I give it 4 stars. It allows samples to be loaded and is more functional overall than the Volca beats. It is a little trickier getting them to work with other hardware and pretty much they are designed to mainly work with each other. Once you understand all of the functionality it is a pretty sweet little drum machine and has plenty of onboard effects to make things interesting.
