I play for an indie rock band as well as a deathcore band (weird I know) so this little guy has been awesome to help make sure I'm prepared for both. I bought this because I’ve heard from all different kinds of musicians that it’s an incredible piece of gear, and they were absolutely correct. I have the tone I’ve always dreamed of for my bass. Has all kinds of cab sim, pedal, and modeling effects, can be used to DI for live sound and recording… honestly, this pedal is worth the money if you’re thinking about taking your music seriously.

So, I swapped from guitar to bass and wanted to scale down my pedalboard. Having the older POD HD500X was a bit much to lug around. So, I swapped to the HX Stomp. This have everything I need, plus some, wrapped into a smaller area. The editor is much easier to use than the older versions. Sound is great, and I love having the stomp feature but still keeping all the amp modeling.

The HX Stomp is a killer multi-fx unit and modeler. I tend to use it mostly for effects that I don't use all the time. I'm more of a blues rock kind of guy, this lets me get heavy or ambient without dumping a bunch of extra money into effects that won't get much use. It's got a pretty straightforward interface that allows for endless tweakability. I don't use the modeling aspect much, but I do have a few presets that I've created in case my amp ever goes down. Between the endless effects and the peace of mind it gives me on a gig, it's almost a perfect pedal. The one downside is the wall wart power adapter, and non standard power plug. I use my One Spot power supply for power but i have to use multiple adapters to make it work. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Hefty piece of kit. I picked it up while sort of emergency assembling a pedal board and needed something to fill any gaps that might come up. I did not realize it had drives on it when I bought it so that was nice. I currently am struggling with where to put it in my signal chain. It is in the effects loop atm while my delay pedal and reverb pedals are in transit, but it may do better at the very beginning or possibly end of the chain. Unsure. Biggest complaint is the volume isnt well normalized between some of the presets. Not that big of a deal since ill eventually make my own presets anyway. Had it a few weeks to tinker with now but have not yet done the deep dive necessary to figure that bit out. The thing is definitely less intuitive than the old school red POD bean I have framed on the wall, lol, but for sure has many more tricks up its sleeve. Build quality is nice. Going five star, four was a close thing but the overall quality and versatility are hard to argue with. It serves its original purpose of jack of all trades on the board well.

This pedal alone will get you through almost any gig. Add a 2 button footswitch and you go from 3 to 5 switches. I bought one to expand my Helix floor to process effetcs for vocals and bass. The amount of effects included make this so versatile and powerful.

I've used Line6 gear for years, but this is my first foray into the Helix range. I already own a POD Go, Axe Fx, but was looking for something that could be included in a pedalboard. The HX Stomp fills that role beautifully and can even be used alone for gigs with external switches. I purchased this with the Helix Native bundle and Metallurgy suite which made it a killer deal. Line6 have come along way in the software realm and you can always used your own IRs. You wont be disappointed with the HX stomp if you want a small desktop/main rig or a backup.

I've owned multi effects pedals in the past, but this here is a whole new ball game. It's an effects pedal, but it's so much more than that. It's literally a mini Helix, which means you essentially have a mini Kemper (Minus being able to capture amps). This thing has tons of Amp models, cabs, and effects, not to mention the assortment of mics.
Since the 3.50 update, this thing is a serious competitor to even the likes of a Quad Cortex, it's that good!
I use it in the studio all the time, and I love creating my own sounds. If you connect this right, this is all you need, and perhaps a DI box if you're going live. (You can even use this as an audio interface).
This thing is a secret weapon! So if you want something that many say sounds better than a kemper, don't hesitate. You can even load custom IR's. I mean, I honestly can't say enough!

What can I say about this thing, the hype is real. So many uses regardless of your set up. I’d say arguably one of the greatest stomp boxes ever made. Been on the fence on buying one for a while, finally pulled the trigger thanks to AMS’s no credit financing and I’m loving this thing while breaking it to my wallet slowly ;)
With the newest update the reverbs on this thing are absolutely amazing. Go listen to some demos and pick one up for yourself. You won’t regret it!

Not the traditional use but I was on the market for a pedal that worked well with synths. After checking out a few youtube demos, decided that this was the best option out there. I was completely blown away by how amazing this sounds with my nord in stereo. From space delays, Crunchy distortion, lush reverbs to warm tape saturation, this thing will make any synth sound like a new instrument. Super easy to program and customize using the desktop HX Edit. Another bonus is this can be used and an audio interface. The quilt quality is SOLID and it is a striking piece of gear to see on stage with all of the flashing lights and beautiful LCD display.
If you're on the fence about picking this up, don't be! It will not disappoint!

If you know then you know! If you are wondering then go ahead and pick this machine up. It is powerful and you can put 2 amps with 2 cabs in stereo with effects! I use it mainly for amps in places where I can't take my big amp and it does an awesome job. It sits on my board taking up a small amount of real estate for all that it can do.

It’s a great multi-effect unit. I’ve loved the line 6 stuff for a while. It sounds good for the price bracket and comes with a lot of great Drives, effects and amp models with a lot of good customization. The recent updates have been great and added a lot to finding a new sound. My only negative is the space you have to do so. I feel you need to buy external gear like a midi controller so it can really reach its full capability.

The HX Stomp is a ridiculous powerhouse of a pedal. I'm not a modeling expert or guru, but this thing is incredibly intuitive and fun to use. I've previously owned M9s and M5s and this picks up where those left off. If you're a fan of multi effect pedals, and interested in amp modeling look no further. You have to be strategic with what combinations you want since the DSP isn't unlimited, but I don't find that to be too much of a nuisance. Since you can run your analog pedals into it, efx loop or not, you have so many tonal options. I've purchased an external footswitch to add buttons and a dedicated tap tempo which I'd recommend to add functionality and ease of use. Besides those additions and minor gripes I'd highly recommend this unit. *The PolyCapo effect is my favorite! I use it to emulate a baritone guitar without needing to own another guitar and that alone to me justifies the price.

This Device has completely eliminated the need for any of my vst amp plugins. With all the effects and models on board (especially with the 3.1 update)the possibilities are only limited to the 6-8 block limitations in the unit, Which can be expanded by snapshots and over all preset space. The HX stomp has made it a dream to also set up live videos and go direct and still have a speaking mic so there is no need to try and get a good amp sim sound on logic or mic up anything in the room. Honestly one of the best purchases I have made in some time.

The HX Stomp has become one the most quintessential aspects of my setup board in the three months that I've had it. I really like to experiment with my setup, switching out pedals and amps and trying out new things all the time. The stomp makes this super easy (and cheaper) because I can try out different sounds before I go invest in a bunch of gear that I may or may not like. I love being able to put my favorite pedals in the effects loop of the stomp and experiment with signal path all with a couple of twists of a knob. The other main thing I love about the stomp is the amp modeling. I'm really blown away by the quality of the amps in this thing. Do they feel exactly like having a vintage tube amp in the room? Absolutely not. Do they sound great? Uhhh yeah. Not waking up everyone in the house when I want to quickly record an idea I have is a major plus as well. There are some downsides to the stomp. The interface takes a few days to get used to, and there are so many possibilities that it can be overwhelming. Not every single model sounds great, and some don't exactly sound like what they're modeled after, but most of them are 95% there. You have to be a little willing to tweak and experiment. The capacative touch footswitches are annoying. I always bump one when I'm messing with settings and have to scroll back over to what I was doing. Overall, I love the stomp. I love going from a modelled heahphone amp setup to my real tube amp with just the switch of a preset. Its fun, and it keeps me excited to play and try new things.

I currently use a Kemper Profiler rack as my main guitar rig but my band frequently have to fly into places for other shows. Although I thought this wouldn’t be quite as badass sounding, I was quite wrong.
Using the HX Edit, I was able to program my rig into the HX Stomp in under 10mins and was astounded at how good it sounds!
Whether, like me, you require a great amp sim for fly in dates or just a sturdy backup to your main rig, the HX Stomp is more than capable of handling the power and tone you need.

The software flow is very easy to navigate. The display could have been bigger given I stand when playing and it a bit difficult to read. However, the contrast is very good and the colors are vivid enough to make out what I am trying to select. I have been messing around with it for just over two weeks now and feel like I discover something new it can do daily. I bought this for use with an electric acoustic, and it surpassed my expectations in what how useful it is. The audio interface it awesome, and it saved me from having to buy a stand alone unit. Well worth the purchase price.

I’ve been using the Helix LT up until now. I wanted to go for something more compact and easier to transport. I’ve got my same tone I had with my LT and it sounds wonderful. My only complaint and reasoning for not giving a full 5 stars is that there needs to be more dsp if you want to use more than just one tone or effect live. Luckily, I bought this with the intention on just using my distorted tone live, since we use backtracks.

The first thing to draw me to this unit was that it was compact. Any performing musician that doesn't employ a road crew can appreciate the need for simplicity. Once I received my HX Stomp, the ease of operation with the editor kept me going as I dialed in my rig. I watched a few youtube videos to see what other people were doing to get their tones. After some fine tuning I was able to narrow down what parameters that I'd be saving as favorites in each block and can now dial up a tone with different amp and cab combinations fairly fast. This set up far exceeds my expectations. I've put my other processors back in their cases and freed up room for new toys thanks to this little guy. Thanks AMS for the great suggestion and a great price.

This pedal is unbelievable. I plugged it in and updated it to the latest firmware version (3.0.1 i think) which was extremely easy to do. After it updated I put on my headphones and plugged in my guitar and played for about 5 hours straight. I was playing in styles that I don’t normally play in, I was playing more creatively/freely. This pedal pulled something great out of me, I absolutely love it! Also, the sounds this thing produces are just insane and it sounds so good. The community surrounding these products is also incredible and definitely a huge plus when buying from the Helix line of products.

Using this bad boy direct, or four cable for effects, it’s hard to beat the versatility that this offers. Newest update handles what the digitech drop does, but be warned it takes up a lot of the processing power to utilize that feature. You may need to get creative with the 8 block allowance as the memory didn’t change, just the functionality. Also, third party Impulse Responses (IRs) will give you infinitely (better IMO) more sonic options to bring the unit to life. Computer editor probably easier to use than the unit to edit itself, but even that is pretty self explanatory once you get going.

I’ve purchased and enjoyed the Helix, and later, the Helix LT. I also use Helix Native with great success and have a blast using it.
However, my Stomp is so powerful, fun, and perfect for my uses. I have it on a pedal board and/or I plug it into my DAW. With the 3.0 Line 6 update, I have found the perfect tool for me...for what it’s worth.
Great tone and functionality. It’s the “brain” of my board. I have the “Storm Trooper” edition and it’s sexy as all get out. Just like my 3rd grade math teacher.
So many layers of sonic goodness to explore. I will buy a new one if this one gets swiped.

I get great funky fender cleans, smooth creamy overdrives and dialed in quite a few jazz/smooth jazz tones with this thing. All done with ease! First I want to say that I've used the POD XT live, POD HD500X, and AMPLIFi in the past (as well as units from another, ahem, brand that starts with B), and I am very familiar with using computer library and editing software for FX. This, however, is a new level. I recreated all my core library sounds within 4 hours of opening the box on this unit, assigned footswitch toggles with no drama, and had all patch levels normalized for my primary guitar not long after.
This also sounds amazing, and gives fantastic control over specifid amp + cab combinations. I also found the IR import and use to be intuitive, and had an amazing acoustic guitar sim from scratch that sounds as good as my Variax sims.
The patches available freely on the line-6 site were also great to see and some of them I quite like.
I know this sounds like I'm a shill, but I don't have any connections to Line-6 -- I've just used their products live and in my recordings for years (I still have my Variax 300 in the closet). I bought this, even though it lacks the Variax port I wanted, because it was so much less expensive and would settle, once and for all, if I want to stick with Line-6 or go with the "B" brand's full size offering. The verdict? I'm hoping a fairy godmother sends me a Helix, because if this is the core sound, I'd love all the extra bits and bobs to go with it. If not, I guess I'll just have to cut back on coffee and save up:)

The sound is phenomenal. All helix sounds. It take a little getting used to the navigation but you’ll get the hang of it. The amp modeling is a class above anything else I’ve used. I am also a head rush and mooer user. This sounds better.
The 3 switches can be expanded with midi or momentary foot switches or you can just set up screen shots. The thing fits perfectly on any board. I’d say it’s the size of 2 boss pedals side by side. Awesome produce.

Im still learning the system but I already have most my pedals up for sale. id like the options to add a midi pedal board mode but I see new products for this all the time. ive seen ways to power this from a pedal power brick but none ive felt safe trying yet. the power supply is a bit huge. I have not hat a ton of time with it yet but look forward to it.

Plug it into your daw and create any tone you need or download someone else’s if you like from 1000s of tones unless you hate good tones and wanna keep using your zoom pedal from 96.

Bought this, to mess around with, and get new sounds, without spending a fortune. I must say, I wish I got it sooner! It sounds great, and it’s not difficult to program your own sounds. Super easy to transport, as well. Would recommend, if you want a helix, but can’t afford the price or space of the bigger units.

I am just getting back into playing and was in the market for a distortion pedal, a chorus pedal and a tuner pedal. When I priced all three of these (various models), I then considered a multi-effects processor. Based upon other reviews I've read online, I decided to go with this product. The Line 6 HX Stomp is built very well and offers a variety of connection options. There are a ton of factory presets that offer some excellent sounds and effects. Although it initially seemed a little daunting figuring out how to navigate through the system to build custom presets, a five minute review of the owners manual made the process very simple. The variety of sounds (amps and cabs) and effects this processor offers is incredible (and it has a built in tuner). If you're in the market for an effects pedal or a multi-effects processor, give this one a shot! It's a great product. AMS shipping was quick and with the no interest payment plan, there's no excuse to treat yourself.

I purchased the HX Stomp to replace a few single purpose effect pedals on my pedal-board. The Good. I feel that the sounds are great and it's pretty easy to get a great sound quickly. You can wire this up many different. straight in-line, or use the 4 cable method etc. It can be used as a stand alone amp if you just use the power section and speakers of a traditional setup. The Bad (None)but a few frustrating items. You can read other comments online. The power supply wall-wart is big and requires 3amps which means your pedal-board power supply may not be up to the challenge. So, do your homework if that's a problem. Next, as I mentioned I just want to use the unit with 3 dedicated foot switches. One a effect on each. I got there but it was not intuitive and I could not find plain documentation or video on there site for that specific config. Lastly, use the editing software worked great. Only drawback is you cannot import it's big brother Helix patches directly because they use to many blocks. The software should let me import but grey the extra blocks so I can pick and chose what I want in the chain. Overall great unit. Highly recommend.

This is what you need on your pedal board. You can run the fx out to your amp on stage and then model another or your same amp into the foh with D.I. It’s a backup guitar rig. This is one of the most versatile tools a musician guitar or bass could have right now. I was a doubter and now that I have used it for Praise and Worship and several jam sessions I am a believer. Get it!

The HX Stomp is a awesome solution if you are running your guitar direct to a PA, DAW, or recording device. The stock cabs and effects sound great, and the ability to use IRs opens up so many possibilities. After unboxing mine, I spent a few hours messing around with the effects. They all sounded great to me, so finding something you like shouldn’t be too hard. I’m using mine at the end of my pedalboard chain mainly for amp/cab/ IR simulation and wet effects. I’m running a compressor and 2 overdrives into the input of the HX Stomp. The HX Stomp takes them very well. The fact that you can make patches and use this as an all-in-one solution or extension to your current pedals is what sold me. I’m using a midi controller to control the HX Stomp, so live use is very seamless for me. I recommend the HX Stomp if you already have pedals and want to take advantage of what Helix can do.

I started with an original AxSys212 when they first came out and have been a loyal customer since. This box does the job quite well and has a well thought out feature set. Models are Line6 on the spot as usual.
My only gripe is the noise. I've spent much of my career coding, doing hardware design on embedded DSP gear like this, and managing others who do this work.
I whines while booting. The whine changes pitch as it boots indicating, though not intentionally, that code is being loaded. All ya gotta do is mute the output until you're ready... Oh well.
I think it may be touchy about connection issues as well which can exacerbate the whine. Free cable tester!
Still, it's a great box and more than quiet enough for any live and nearly all studio work. I give it a 4 because it's still a damn good box and the whine isn't that bad.

So im new to line 6 but i have exp with many different other modelers. The amps sound really convincingly authentic, the mesa sounds like a mesa marshall and revv all sound spot on. The effects are very powerful and go above what you will even probably need very powerful. Lots of options for customization you can really do alot and if your creative the 6 blocks they allow are more than enough. In all if you are looking for a portable alternative to the full helix this is it look no further. And on a side note ams killed it with the no interest finance thanks guys.

I’m hardly a tone snob but I’m a lifelong tune amp player. Up until now I’ve been skeptical about digital modeling, but I was in need of a solution for low volume playing at home (I’ve used the unit mainly with headphones thus far) and decided to give this a try given the positive press. So far it’s exceeded expectations.
Right out of the box I’ve been able to dial in some great usable tones, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this is capable of. I love that I can go from clean Fender models, all the way up to realistic Rectifier tones with one unit. The effects are fantastic as well. I’m surprised at the response and dynamics of the models.
Am I ready to sell my Mesa? Well no.. But all in all it’s hard to beat the capability of this thing, and given everything it can do it’s a bargain. Happy to recommend the HX Stomp to fellow digital modeling skeptics.

This little guy is amazing you can use it as a pedal with sweet effects. You can also just plug it into a computer and use it as a interface record with effects and raw simultaneously. You can also just use it as a direct to front of house. Or even just plug in some headphones. The UI is super easy and works great out of the box.

I’ll admit, I have been old school for many years and refused the very idea of modeling for a long time. Tube amps and boutiques was all I used for years. Specifically Bogner and Mesa. The Helix ecosystem is beyond fantastic. The built in presets aren’t much to be desired to be honest, but the ability to recreate my entire board and amp is truly incredible. I’ve spent hours defining my sound and it’s truly a fun process. I also made multiple tracks in logic comparing my pedals and amp with the HX blocks I’ve made and I have literally got them to the point that I cannot tell the difference. Its truly amazing and the ownhammer IR’s that I have added to the HX stomp have completely helped me recreate my Mesa and Bogner amps. I honestly never thought I would be without my pedal board and amps and I haven’t touched them since I figured out what the helix can do. Also, my recordings have never been cleaner using the HX verses my cabs and mics, etc. I record all my guitar and bass parts through the HX and they are very clean and well balanced. If your on the fence about the HX or any helix products, just make the leap. If you love tinkering and creating, you’ll have a blast with the helix. The ability to create your own pedals, effects, etc, is amazing. Hope this helps.

As a regional touring bass player I debated about the HX Stomp for Bass for sometime. Youtube? not many videos. Web search? Same. If you are a bass player and have experienced the same I hope it's you reading this!
I took a chance and I have to say I am pleased I did. as a processor for live applications this piece is ideal for bass players. Ease of use, split signals to effect but to still preserve fat low bass signal. The six block limit is really no limit for bass as you can easily run amp and cab sim along with a few effects and not come up short on blocks.
As an interface again, great for the bass, beautiful stereo sound if wanted direct. The cab modeling is superb in this application for a great "mic" sound even direct.
I found the guitar presets so great as well that it inspired me to clean up a six string to have around for demos etc.
All in all this is a ten out of ten piece in functionality and sound and specifically, yes, for BASS too!

I was so excited to finally try this hardware out!
My plan was to take this on the road with me so I could practice my playing (I am on the road about 6 months of the year). I was wanting something that would make me feel excited about plugging in and practicing and playing along with some tracks in my hotel every day.
The Stomp finally arrived and it was the PERFECT size to stick in a suitcase. I successfully set it up alongside my laptop, tested my connections for sound (As this was the set up going on the road with me!) and started playing with the sounds!
My very first impression was how "flat" it sounded. I dialed up several more different profiles and as I went by one by one, the sound continued to be "Flat".
No space, No "room". Just FLAT.
I went back to some "go to" amps simmed in the unit and started messing with the controls and eq, trying my best to breathe some life into it. I downloaded several more files from the online sharing resource and tried those out.
Everything was FLAT sounding to me. I tried different headphones, from top of the line studio, to my trusty everyday Sony consumer use ones to no avail. I unplugged my set up and ran it straight with headphones. Still HORRIBLY flat sounding. I plugged the Helix Stomp into my Headrush FRFR 108 (which blows the roof off my house when I run my POD HD500X through it!) and it sounded WORSE.
I tried and tried changing settings and adjusting parameters, but it was of no use. I consider myself quite capable of getting a decent sound out of even the most sophisticated of devices. But this one just could not make the cut.
I packaged it up and returned it.
I recently bout a Pocket POD unit and tried that out for my needs and strangely enough, that one delivered a couple of usable presets. More than the Stomp, I'm afraid.
Severely disappointed.

Ok, so I had the line 6 “kidney bean” as my first ever modeler when they first came out. Can I say WOW to line 6?! I can’t believe how far the modeling has come. You can do so much with this pedal. The fx send and return is a great feature. You just plug a 1/8 to dual 1/4 in the fx return and you can jam-a-long” with your phone or any playback device. And USB takes it right into your computer and communicates as a daw!!! Midi in/out let’s you send program changes so you don’t even have to touch it! The features go on and on. I was surprised how easy it was to use right out of the box. I strongly recommend this pedal. Your whole rig in ONE PEDAL. Way to go, Line 6!!!!

This thing is amazing! I use it with a few external drive pedals and this thing does EVERYTHING that I need to do! I play at church, like alot of folks do now days, and I can set up my electric patches to run out of one side, and then set up a patch for my acoustic and run out of the other side, and BAM! I've got one board, which is a Pedaltrain Metro series, and I can use that one board for both acoustic and electric and it sound amazing! Best purchase I have ever made!

Before the helix stomp I used a podhd500x and it was ok but didnt feel natural like my 5150 and other amps I have played in the past. Helix stomp is a must if you enjoy being able to do any music genre or recording. I really like the fact that you can download your own IR cabs and create even more interesting tones.

I have two primary purposes for purchasing the HX Stomp. 1) I was looking for a solution that I could use directly into the board/house on gigs where having an amp is not ideal. And since I don't use a TON of fx the number of blocks that can be used at once is sufficient for me when I'm needing to use a few of them for amp/cab & reverb sims. I could use just this live, and add a few gain stages to the remaining open blocks and get by just fine. Or use this and my small board that includes a dual OD and Keeley Monterey in front of it, and be set. It's not going to sound as good as using my Princeton Reverb live, but it really makes for a great tool in these situations. 2) The second reason is that although I don't use a lot of fx pedal I still just love to try different things out. And buying this will save me a crazy amount of money since it has more built in fx then I'll ever need. Over the years I've bought plenty of pedals to try, only to sell it a few weeks or month later. With the HX Stomp I can just add the similar fx to the chain, and discard it when it no longer interest me (this is my routine, and it works for me... use something to help inspire something, and then get rid of it).
So again, this will serve my needs pretty well for some time to come, and in the long run save me a few dollars.

I've tried many many many amps,cabs,pedals,processors etc.. in every combination possible. I decided to give the HX Stomp a try... It's now my permanent rig. It's amp modeling sounds better than any tube amp/cab I've ever played. It's effects are endless and could fill up 50 pedal boards. I've never had a tone that has sounded this good. I thought this product might overwhelm me. I’ve never been an effects pedal guy. And there are seemingly endless possibilities here. HX Stomp sounds fantastic right out of the box. I’m quite fond of the “Mandarin 80” preset. Warm smooth Orange tone, with just the right amount of bite. And the “Every Breath” tone will leave you in Jazz Chorus bliss. But you can create whatever works for you. Choice of cab, mic placement, amp and effects galore. This thing is not complicated. You’ll be tweaking and dialing in your own presets on day one.

It’s truly a jack if all trades, seriously a must own for guitar or bass players, even synth players. Fits right on your pedalboard too. My one complaint is the amount of blocks, kind of limiting, but hey you learn to work around it.

I recently became a flight attendant which means lots of playing in Hotel rooms. I got this so that I wouldn’t have to lug around a travel amp and it was the BEST decision. This thing sounds great and has a headphone jack so that I can play without disturbing anyone. I highly recommend the stomp to anyone!

They say big things sometimes come in small packages. Well this is surely true with the HX Stomp!! Lots of very good effects in this little black box that fits in you guitar case. No more lugging heavy equipment. Combined with my FrFr Headrush cabinet which weighs less then 20 pounds is all I need to rock the house. Love these Line 6 products.

Rather than spending $1500+ on the full helix, I thought I’d give the hx stomp a try. I really enjoy it so far. It’s pretty easy to use once you get used to it. I can see how an iPad or something would be useful to control it while standing. I would absolutely recommend this to all guitar players, of every skill level. I don’t use a ton of effects at once, so, six blocks is plenty for me.

I’m in a phase right now where I don’t want to haul a rig around between a couple of different churches I play at. This does it! Direct to PA. I’m set up in a few seconds and I use with an expression pedal. Sounds great, and I have tones dialed in perfectly. It’s got all The connections you could ever need including midi and effects loop. What a great product doesn’t dissapoint we use it for amp modelling and also for vocals ( bought two) and the sound is very professional almost like you took your studio sound to rehearsal or shows ,this replaced a strymon timeline ,orange head and a couple more pedals and we don’t miss them at all, it is that good

This thing is ridiculous sounds better than milking a cab with any mic in any room. From cleans to crunch to gain! Also it plays so well with analogue pedals in a signal chain! My only grip is that the bass sims aren't on par with the guitar sims!

I was slightly skeptical at first, but after 5 minutes I realized this is a great addition to any gear collection. I purchased it for a quiet practice solution, but there is so much more. I have used it though my tube amps loop as another channel and sent it directly to the house for live situations. Amp tones are great as are the effects. My only complaint which is minor is the size of the ac adaptor. It is big.

I've had the HX Stomp now for about a month and half and I can say that I am extremely impressed. When I first started looking at the HX Stomp the thing that caught my eye was just how small and compact the unit is. It is so nice not to have to lug around my giant pedal board anymore. As a professional musician who plays gigs regularly it is very refreshing to be able to perform a very quick in and out setup without loosing anything in relation to tone. So far I've played a few guitar and bass gigs with the stomp and it is working out very well. It does take a little time to get familiar with it, but once you do it is great. All the effects and amp modeling sound great and has endless options as far as how you want to run it. The only thing that I would like to see improved is the length of the cable for the power supply as it is pretty short. All in all I would highly recommend this unit for any guitarist or bassist looking for a small portable unit that works great in many different situations.

Versatility and great tones in a small package, the Line 6 Helix Stomp will be at home in your recording Studio or pedalboard. Plenty of inputs and outputs for any situation one might find themselves in. Everything from a USB port for recording and using the software editor to expression pedal input.The tones I get with my third party IRs are fantastic and have me playing and practicing for hours. Gigging/touring musician here, I've played in arenas for 13,000+ and little clubs of 100+. This is my second time owning a HX Stomp and once again, it hasn't let me down. The only reason why I sold my other one was because I was moving across the country and needed the cash.
Now that I've settled back down, the HX stomp is back in my rig and is the cornerstone of my whole sound. It's a beast in the studio and on the stage. Perfect to take to quick demo sessions where all you need to do is pull up a simple comp/pedal/amp setup or have it with the rest of your pedalboard and have it act purely as an amp modeling/tone shaping BEAST. I've used Kempers, Fractals, etc... and while there are many opinions of what sounds better, I can tell you with confidence that there isn't a more intuitive UI than the one made by Line 6. Super quick to learn and it's adaptive to your level of interfacing. The stock cabs sound great, but this pedal really takes off when you use 3rd party IR's like the ones by Celestion or Ownhammer. I spent an extra $30 on Ownhammer IR's and it was a night/day difference in tone. Much more responsive and "authentic". I highly recommend this pedal for any level of musician, whether you're a bedroom jammer or a on-the-road legend.

I have used Box amps for as long as I have been playing guitar, but as a guitarist who plays at different churches I was over having to drag my amps to different gigs. I was looking at a Helix for a long time but I have already invested into my pedal board and wanted to continue to use it, enter the HX Stomp. It allows me to keep my board run my favorite amps in stereo and all I need to bring with me is my pedalboard and guitar! I love this thing!

This is basically a compact Helix you only get 6 blocks but that's plenty for crafting a great tone. Nice compact design integrates very well with a pedal board giving you use of any effects you may be missing as well as the best amp modeling offered to date. The compact design and streamlined blocks eliminates the option paralysis that frequently happens with these devices. Hx edit the editing software for Mac or windows is also a joy to use. for the money this device can't be beat. With AMS return policy and excellent customer service it would almost be a crime to not give the HX stomp a try Ids be willing to bet you'll keep it. Great in all uses but the most amazing tone for low volume home use through phones or monitors. Great live and recording gear as well.

Love this little Helix in a box. Great for fly over shows or as an addition to your existing pedalboard. You can use it as a full fledged rig with amp sims or an additional effects for your rig. Switching can be setup to the way you want it. Only limitation is the use of only six blocks as compared to the Helix Floor or Rack but still very versatile.

Being my control board for my pedal board as well as my stereo rig. It’s so amazing and versatile. I’ve used it as a stand alone unit as well and it fits in my gig bag. I could go on for days about the stomp, but you should do yourself and buy one. Don’t just think it’s only for guitar. They’re 30 bass cabs in it as well as it’s key players dream with all the extensive routing options. 300+ Amps, Cabs, effects....etc enough for anyone to sound as good as they should! Thanks Line 6 and American Musical Supply for making it happen for me!

Purchased this to use for a small footprint pedal board and it does not disappoint! The sound is every bit as good the other Helix units and very simple to use. I was up and running in about 30 minutes without using the manual. After looking at the guide, I did more. Not as many effects per patch as the Standard Helix, but thats fine for me. When I travel through airports or gig on small stages, it is the perfect solution to my gig needs.
Small Gripes: (Very small for me) I wish the effects loop was global where you don't have to program it into the patches... Also, I haven't quite figured out how to make the expression pedal global if using as a volume... In the Global settings, the option is there, but it's not responding like I thought it should... Not sure if its my expression pedal (Mission Engineering for Line 6) or this unit. When switching presets, the Volume goes to off position each time, and I have to move the expression pedal back to a positing to get sound.

I purchased the HX Stomp to use in place of my AC30 for a few conference gigs that are fly dates. At first I was a little skeptical that it could replicate my amp live but I think it's even better. Everything is mic'd or direct in our live setup, the whole band is on in ears. I've been a little sick of sound techs killing my tone through the system. There is no "turning down your amp" and you can basically tell the sound man to turn it on and leave the tone alone!! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for good amp tones and some extra effects for live shows.

Great little pedal, had it for 3 days was called to fill in for local band, power tube was hot plating in amp during 1st set went direct from HX stomp for rest of night saved the night and sounded really good especially since I'd less than 72 hours experience with it, the houses sound tech said it was awesome to work with very easy to dial in.

I bought this to use on my pedalboard for session gigs. I use the 4CM with this and can use all of my effects, exactly as I use them with my real amp and dial in just about any sound imaginable.
I also sometimes just bring this to writing sessions when I'm too lazy to bring my pedalboard. Sounds and works great for bass guitar as well.

I gave the Stomp 2 stars instead of 1 because I think my expectations were too high and that's not Line6's fault.
I did my research and watched tons of reviews on You Tube for weeks on end before clicking the button to buy.
The hardware is sharp. It's packed well and the manual is written with a lot of appropriately placed humor.
The unit powered up just fine and I was playing through the factory presets in minutes. Everything went "Tango Uniform" when I attempted to update the firmware - a necessary step to enable downloads of the "good" presets. Driver problems galore. I spent an entire evening trying to get the firmware to update - scouring the forums for potential solutions. I finally did get the firmware update only to experience crash after crash after crash of the HX Edit software - which is required to transfer downloaded presets to the device.
In the end the fix for me was to return it. I am sad.

The Line 6 HX Stomp is everything I was looking for in a modeling processor. As a bassist with minimal experience with such products, the ease of use was a much welcome feature. The compact size makes transporting it very easy, and it has features that cater to both guitarists and bass players alike! Would absolutely recommend! In fact both guitarists in my band have gone out for the full Helix! Talk about tonal control!

Solid construction, small enough to put on a board, endless tweaking of sound. If you want one of the big helix boards but you don’t play live on a regular basis, buy the stomp. You can edit as much as you want on your computer and store settings on the pedal. I got rid of all my other pedals.

After playing around with this unit for the past week I can honestly say it is the best pedalboard I've owned. It's so versatile and yet so compact. It's perfect for both taking to gigs as well as for when I'm traveling. Hooks up nicely to a PA or when plugged into an amp and the editing software rules. Took me a bit to pull the trigger on this, but so glad I did. This processor solves all of my modelling and recording problems. A unique level of sound tweaking, a full arsenal of effects from modulation to delays and reverbs, multiple amp and cab sims, the availability to import Impulse Responses, chooseable input/output configs, a built-in strobe tuner and noise gate, the list goes on. This unit could easily replace my entire pedalboard, and it actually comes close to doing so. One of my favorite things about the hx stomp, other than the smorgasbord of amps and effects, is the FX Loop. You can route any pedal, or group of pedals, throught the FX loop and add it in to any block placement in the chain. A godsend if you have an H9 max! This is a highly recommended modelling/direct recording unit that truly rocks. Anyone familiar with the Line 6 Helix line will already know how professional this technology is. Plus, the great folks at AMS ship out quickly with great communication and customer service, as usual!

I have the full Helix. I can use pretty much all of my models on the Hx Stomp and it is great for when I don't want to bring out the full board. Slap on my Mission expression pedal and I'm ready to go. I also use it as a front end for my Vox AC-4 and it sounds so good I sold my entire pedalboard (okay, I kept a couple for sentimental reasons). I play bass at church sometimes, too, and this is replacing my church bass DI rig. Thus it is going to greatly decrease the amount of gear I have to carry. I haven't set up an acoustic patch, because I play acoustic much less often, but I'm going to get around to that, too.

I wasn't too impressed at first coming from a kemper profiler but after some patience and messing around with it I have found a ton of tones I like. Is it as good as kemper? No but if you're on your budget and just jamming in your room it is more then good enough. Topped off with the amazing service at and I am very satisfied with my purchase

The unit is small and will become the hub of my pedal board. The tap/tune switch gets in the way when making adjustments to the top controls, not a huge deal breaker but it activates the switch. The power supply is another really silly design that just doesn’t work. For myself it will be routed in the board but for anyone wanting to just use the pedal alone and you have floor jacks on stage it just doesn’t fit inside the power compartment. You will need to bring an extension cord and it’s just another item that may be forgotten. I’m not that impressed with the included patches as well. I watched multiple reviews of how the unit worked and sounded before my purchase and what I hear right out of the box and what was shown online just don’t match up. These are all small items that will be ironed out over the next weeks working with the unit. Positives are that the unit is small, sturdy and I am looking forward in using the pedal. I see no big problem with the 6 blocks.

The Helix platform is amazing. The tones I am getting out of this little box for my bass, are heads and tails above the Zoom modeling units, and I loved the Zoom stuff!
The only reason I didn’t give it five stars, is that to use is as a stand-alone replacement for your rig, you need a midi pedal or other external switching system (or both) which drives the price even higher. But for me the expense was worth it to keep to a small board.

I've only scratched the surface on what the HX Stomp can do. I wanted a small audio interface to start home recording. It's perfect for a desktop. I was willing to give up the foot pedal and some routing options for the sake of saving several hundred dollars compared to the LT or full Helix models. I'm sure they are well worth the price for professionals, but this works just fine for an amateur like me. It's got a huge, full sound.

This thing sounds great. I'm shocked at how small it is, yet it offers as much flexibility as it does. I had a Helix and wasn't a fan of how huge it is - I like to travel light. You can throw this in your gig bag and have an entire rig in a pedal... not just amp tones, but serious effects too! It's amazing, and quite a time to be a musician. Props to Eric V. for hooking me up with it!!

I used a line6 Pod HD Pro for live gigs for years and briefly owned a Kemper profiling amp.. the helix tech puts the Pod to shame and from what i've heard so far this thing is not only on par with the pricier competitors, it's the cheapest i've ever seen something of this quality. glad to have mine

I have a Helix LT and bought this for its portability and to use on my audio production desk for recording and the sounds are identical. The HX Stomp is built like a tank and allows up to six blocks to be used, which should be enough in most cases but I can switch to the LT if I need nore.
For those not familiar with Line 6 Helix products, a block is a virtual slot and can be an amp, cabinet, effect, or pedal. Using two blocks for an amp and a cabinet allows for four effects or using the combined amp & cabinets that are available for use in a single block allows for five effects. If running the Helix HX Stomp into an amp, all six blocks can be used for effects. The HX Stomp can also be used for bass or keyboards and there are presets and menu items for each. The unit allows for 126 presets, with 24 blank at purchase although all can be overwritten and backed up on a computer using the Helix Editor. The Mission Helix foot pedal is available separately. This is a good purchase.
