Let me start by saying my so takes instruction at a local music store. His instructor is a working musician and he says he tells all parents to get this kit. It is a real instrument not a toy. As your child progresses or if you want a travel kit simply upgrade the given Ludwig heads (which are not bad for the price point) and the kit will serve its intended purpose, no doubt. My son loves it, I’ve given it a whirl it will do the job. Don’t pass on this kit it’s a great deal.

I bought the pocket kit for my 11 year old son. It comes with everything you need. Sticks, drums, throne, drum stand and cymbals. I thought it was going to be another cheap toy, but man this thing rocks. A adult can easily play this also. I play guitar so I had the local drum store put it together and tune it. My kid loves it. Can't see him needing another for years or until this wears out. Great craftsmanship, excellent value. I highly recommend AMS and Tge Ludwig Pocket Kit.

Let's get that first question out the way "YES" its a full size set, not a toy. The quality of the hardware, care in craftsmanship, is not what you'd expect in a kit under a grand. Everything the drummer needs is in the box down to the sticks and the throne! Safe and securely packaged.
Jazzy's 4 year old (Tanah) was using the walls, the table, whatever she could practice playing on to cultivate her rhythm. It was time to open that door and get her some real drums to play. So my wife & I bought her the Ludwig Questlove Pocket Kit. Now Jazzy's baby girl is on her way to becoming a drum superstar! She played it on Christmas morning and practices every day on her own without reminding her. It's April 2023 now and she's getting good and has not lost interest. She's crushing it! I'm totally impressed, and so is Tanah! She's woodsheddin' right now, and she will keep crushin that Pocket Kit. Remember that name "Tanah" I'm sure you'll hear about her in the years to come!!!
There is absolutely nothing to dislike with this product.
Exceeds all my expectations! Oh yeah, super bonus here, it even comes with Questlove's personalized drum tutorials. Over the years, I've worked with many of the top session drummers from NY to LA ,and I know if this Pocket Kit was in the studio we were recording in any session drummer would be pleased to play it (they'd have their stick bag, and maybe we'd add second crash cymbal). Nuff Said.
If you have a family member or a friend thats super serious about becoming a drummer, this is the exact drum set you need to purchase (unless you'd rather roll out the big bucks ofc). Instead, use that xtra cash to add on the extras to expand the this beautiful set. Buy the pocket Kit, you'll save some bread, and you wont be sorry! Rock out, Rock on!

This little drum set really impresses. All hardware included as shown in the picture and was received (undamaged) in sturdy packaging. I considered purchase for way too long. If you're looking to buy; go for it. I can't imagine anyone would be unsatisfied. Once assembled and tuned (get a drum tuner), the wife was jamming and grinning ear to ear. Thank You AMS!

Perfect for small spaces. Have owned for about a year and it has held up well. Had to change out bass pedal as it is a bit small for an adult foot. For my 10yo, nice quality, everything to get started was included. It's a real nice looking set. I am not a drummer so I don't know what to expect buy I was impressed with it. As I said not a drummer so there was a learning curve to set it up which leads to my only complaint there were no directions included. Ludwig videos were not very good and hard to navigate on their website. AMS delivery was fast, overall very happy with this kit.

This is a really great kit for the money! I purchased it for my home studio (and future children) and it’s really solid. For a kid that’s learning its got everything you need and sounds amazing with a proper tuning. If you’re an adult musician, upgrading the cymbals, the heads and some hardware work wonders and will make this kit gig/session ready.

From the other reviews, I expected it to be fairly nice, but I was really impressed with this kit. Of course I didn’t expect it to be like a set of DWs, but really for the price point, this kit is incredibly well thought out. The hardware is reasonably sturdy, as well as the hoops and lugs etc, and assembled in a similar way to a ‘real’ kit—in my opinion an important thing for a young drummer to learn—proper assembly and disassembly of their kit. The heads and cymbals, as many have said, are the corner-cutting for this product, as expected, but easily upgraded, and their inclusion gets an excited beginner started right out of the box. I would have no reservations recommending this kit to anyone looking for a budget entry-level youth kit.

I like that the kit is all inclusive. It is a wonderful representation of the Ludwig name. It well built (my 6yr old is a cross between Animal from the Muppets and a bull in a china shop). He hasn't destroyed it yet and I don't think he will in the foreseeable future. The Wine Sparkle shells with the all black hardware and stands looks fantastic. It totally met and exceeded all my expectations. The only thing I don't like is the throne, but I kind of expected that the throne would be a super-cheapy. Overall, great starter kit for the money, especially if you're not sure your kid is going to be committed to playing the drums.

I needed a small, inexpensive kit to keep downstairs in my finished basement, for infrequent band rehearsals. As the guitarist, I saved the drummer alot of grief with not having to provide his large, pro set for rehearsals. We all don’t mind him playing this particular drum kit, because it serves it’s purpose and sounds pretty good. (He says he feels good playing this beginners set, for rehearsals.) Well, that’s the purpose of me buying this smaller, economical starter set. A good buy, and recommended for the beginner, seasoned player, and all of those wanting a small drum set for a limited space area.

Comes with everything you need to get started. Pretty simple putting it together, but still getting the hang of getting it properly tuned. I like the size, not too small like a children’s set up, but small enough to for a beginner to easily manage.
Instructional videos online were helpful, and learning some practice beats was definitely a plus.

I ordered this drum set for my grandsons. Their uncle plays it I played percussion instruments so I thought it would nice for them as a Christmas present. Also given we are in a crisis with what's going on all around the world I figured they could use some uplifting. Entertainment is a good way to do that. Thank you for sending such a great set. We bought these as a Christmas gift for our praise & worship leader’s daughter who is always playing the drums on stage before our practices. She’s very young but has absolutely amazing natural rhythm. We wanted to cultivate her gift. That little girl’s eyes lit up when she walked in and saw these set up and immediately started playing them. She said “These fit me just right!” And the stool and height of the entire set can grow with her until she’s ready for a full size set years down the road. I never thought this drumset would be what they are. This is the exact same as a full-size drum set, only perfect for a small space. I couldn't have asked for anything more with this drumset. The only downside is that it does not come with instructions for setting up so if you are a new musician you will have to find a video for set up.

Cutest little drumset ever! Great quality drum with starter heads and cymbals. Kids love it! Our kids are 11, 9, and 7 and it fits them all. We upgraded the heads and cymbals to silentstrokes and now they can practice all day long in our tiny house and I don't go crazy. Highly recommend!

This is a great sounding beginner drum set. My daughter is 5 and loves it. The only complaint I have is the high hat stand. It’s a little flimsy and wouldn’t handle a lot of hard pounding in my opinion. But great for the young drummer.. I recommend this set 8 of 10.

The Pocket kit versitial beginners drum kit, very well made right down to the hardwear. Love smooth action of the hihat, bass kick petal, and black out hardwear looks amazing together with black sparkle wrap on the drum it's self. Great drum kit. I'm very pleased with your product. I feel like this is a great lot for kids 13 and under. It’s not a cheap set by any means. The cymbals aren’t great but that can be replaced. The quality of the drums themselves are great. I couldn’t be happier. Was an awesome surprise for the 8 year old.
