Works well and like the fact it’s passive. I bought this wondering if I could control 2 sets of monitors simultaneously. The answer is no, only one set at a time. I think that would have made the controller perfect. I’ve noticed no sound loss and it’s been great thus far. Overall I’m happy with my purchase.

This is exactly what I needed since i don't have a Sound technician helping on the stage.
I'm a soloist...so I need to control the sound of everything ...lap, guitar, microphone. Dj mixer and an extra mic. TAHTS TOO much going on counting that at the same time Im singing and playing.! Not funny.! lol
This is a real good help when you need to lower your global volume, but also volumes of guitar and mics. I have 2 more of this.

So for years I've just turned on and off my studio monitors when it came to recording and then reviewing my tracks during play back. I found I could totally work around that by buying this! Now with an ease of a button mute my monitors with ease. Along with volume control I have more control in my home made studio. A great buy for me hands down.

This monitor controller works exactly as advertised - easy to set up and use, I run 3.5 inch and 8 inch monitors through it. I've had it for a month or so without any issues. Mute switch is a handy feature. Solid, heavy, and built like a tank. Very much worth it for the convenience and time saved switching between the monitors. Highly recommended for the budget studio.

I've improved my home studio to having a four speaker set up for help with mixing. I like to listen to my mixes in several environments to help me get the best mix possible. This Makie Big Knob allows me to switch from my JBL's to my Presonus monitors effortlessly. And I also can mute (if I thought I heard the phone ring, lol) and switch to headphones in a flash. Easy set up and its built well with enough weight to it to keep it from sliding away on my work desk. Love it!

This product doesn’t color the source at all. The buttons are a little springy but is not a big deal. Keep in mind it is made for 2 set of monitors and not 3 like the guy who gave this product 1 star, and this is not for beginners.
Expensive gear doesn’t mean pro equipment and well priced equipment doesn’t translate to beginners gear all the time. This thing is GOOD.

As a musician, I have the hardest time believing something is substantial until I can feel the weight of equipment. This holds up. The knob is easy to move between sources, and won't easily pull off your mixing table because of heavy cables. I also really like the dim feature which helps you find pesky frequencies at low volumes.

Love this thing! Super simple setup and so so useful. It had mute which is essential to our setup. I only have one set of monitors connected to it but you can connect 2 pairs and A/B them. It’s passive to so now power. Couldn’t be happier and love the feel of the knob. Even my son commented on how nice it felt. This works out real well too with my monitors as they have individual volume knobs which would make turning them up and down and off very difficult and this works perfect for that.

Before purchasing this unit I researched a few other units 10 to 15 times its price to manage my Samson resolve ribbon tweeters and Event tuned reference 8 Monitors.I had the budget to splurge and was going to do so but something kept bringing me back to this Mackie. So I read some of the reviews,researched it a bit more and in nutshell this checked off 3 of the major characteristics I was looking for in a speaker monitoring system. 1) Uncompromising sound (It being passive was a big plus)
2) Ease of use (Simplicity is key functionality pretty much straight forward which I like)
3) Good Build Quality (Very Solid makes me feel confident in its durability. Time will will reveal how reliable it is. I'm beyond happy with my decision and I'm enjoying it. It has been 3 months now and I'm still "HAPPY" lol. Kudos to Mackie and extra Kudos To AMS. You guys have been an intricate part of my journey through the years with all the great products and customer service made my process and passion much more pleasurable.

The Big Knob is a piece of gear I've know about for years, but was reluctant to purchase. I am currently using 2 sets of monitors with it. The unit is very transparent, smooth, and an does an amazing job all around. The mono option is great to truly start your mix on a solid foundation. It's also built like a tank.

Highly recommend this for anyone with two audio sources, and/or two speaker sets.
I only have one set of good monitors, but I frequently listen to both my Ableton work, and my iPhone for clearing my mind.
This allows me both, at the press of a button. Its also really nice to have a big master volume knob to fondle.
GREAT solid build quality as well!!

The Big Knob is just what you need to control those monitors! It is easy to connect, and solid as a rock! Mackie built this thing like a tank! I have been using this for two weeks, and I can say that I am in love with its features! The mono button is just what you need to check the mix! This is an excellent buy for anyone looking to control the volume of their monitors without reaching for the interface!

It is a simplified piece of gear that does exactly what it supposed to do and dramatically improved my mixes by not adding any extra coloring in my mixes so what you hear is what you get and i am very pleased with the end results

Had this controller for 3 months now so it's now a fixture in my home studio. It has everything you need to control your monitors. Able to control 2 sets of speakers which is all I need. It even has another source so if you happen to have 4 sets of speakers, it will do that too! Mute, dim and mono buttons is all you need to have your speakers in total control. The great part of the Big Knob Passive is it doesn't need any power so it's one less plug you have to have to deal with. It's compact, so you can put it anywhere on your desk without it being in the way, and finally, the knob is as smooth as silk so you get a smooth gradual volume change. All metal constructions should make the unit last for a long, long time. Great buy for the money!

This is a good piece of gear & solved monitors popping with interfaces without volume knobs. Things that would be an add to make it great: instead of a/b monitors, hearing both sets at same time. Same with a/b source being able to hear both sources at once. Buttons a little flimsy but what do you expect for $70! Overall its a great product and well worth the asmission price! Does the job Well!

I upgraded my interface to a Fireface 802. it has no output control for volume other than the software. This Big Knob passive not only allows me to A/B between other refernces, it has volume, mono and dim. It's VERY well built. All metal. Knob turns very smoothly. Buttons "engage" with a spring like mechanical-like touch. THis is not some cheap plastic thing with low-budget parts. They could probably charge $150 for this thing and people would buy it. It doesnt color the sound that I can tell at all. Passive so no need for a power source. Hook inbetween your interface and monitors and GO. Stupid simple and probably one of the handiest piece of kit in my studio next to my PreSonus faderport. If you have a rackmount interface with no volume control, this is your controller!
