Outstanding quality, workmanship and hardware. The remo Chinese heads are OK for beginners, suggest upgrade with Evans hydraulic or Aquarian for Toma/bass & Remo pinstripe for snare. Muffler, gel pad etc. required for snare. Ludwig hardware Pak is great value, pro grade cymbal stands for 10/12" toms suggested (DW 3000 minimum) Cymbals, Sabian are made by/owned by Zild. Save some $$. I use tune-bot gig for tuning, it's simple to use. This drum kit should give yrs of use.

Beautiful, great stick response, easy to tune, and is great for metal! This kit is evil and i love it. My only complaint is bass drum. I could not tune the heads it came with to lower than 72 with my drum dial. I wouod like to be around 68. It still sounds great at that tuning though. Would reccomend to anyone.

This is definitely worth the money and by far one of the best sets that I've played on thus far. Couldn't ask for a better product from Mapex, and the Tomahawk snare is just impeccable! I absolutely love this set ??

I was blown away taking these drums out of the box. I got the Magma Red sparkle fade into black. I was quite impressed that 2 of the 4 toms arrived already set up. I was confused at first, and thought I was missing a rim for one of the floor toms....turned out there were two rims attached to top of 16" tom. Haha threw me for a loop for a minute. I just got this kit last week had one practice and performed live with it this past Saturday 10/25. The kit sounds amazing. was easy to tune, although tends to easily get out of tune, so keep a drum key close by. Kit has great tone, and resonance. Came with coated Remo heads, so don't have to worry about getting cheap heads when you get it. I got all new heads thinking I was going to get cheap heads with the kit, but now I have great back up heads. Don't need them yet. You will need two heavy duty stands as the front toms suspend from them. Having the cymbals and toms on those stands, you want to make sure they are heavy duty. Great product!

This is a great kit for the money. Mapex obviously wants to go after DW as far as hardware quality is concerned and they come very close. The black hardware looks really good, the finish is surprisingly consistent considering the price. Don't even bother tuning it up with the stock heads they ship it with. They are garbage.
