Great amp, tone for days!

Product Rating Product Review Great amp with more volume than you’ll ever need. Plenty of tones, the Boost is great, at the 20 watt setting there’s tons of volume and the stock celestion sounds great. A little shift in tone when you adjust the wattage down, but not that noticeable and easily adjusted. I play some fairly good sized venues and don’t think I’d ever need to turn this guy up past 2 or 3. Surprisingly loud for a 10” speaker, drop a good OD pedal in front and you’re set. No built in reverb or effects, which I prefer, simple layout, and that classic Marshall plexi tone is achievable with a little tweaking. I love it, single coils sound great, but it really shines with a humbucker when you get the amp set to edge of breakup. Looks great, built like a tank. A win for sure.

Product Review True Marshall tone of the 70s and 80s (think Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Led Zeppelin). This amp takes overdrive pedals very well. AMS made it easy to buy on payments. AMS ROCKS!!

Product Review Back in 1968 I owned a plexi super lead ….well since PA systems got bigger and more efficient there’s no need for that kind of power….I bought this and just love it….if classic rock and blues is your thing and throw a boss sd1 in the front and some chorus and delay and reverb in the effects loop you’ll be good to go!

Product Review Well this is my first Marshall amp and I can say that I am quite happy ?? with it. Yes it breaks up differently than my other tube amps but in a very good way. It’s got really tight bottom end for clean sounds and great Pete Townsend sound for distortion. All in all quite good ??, it is also remarkably lightweight!.

Searching for a low wattage tube combo that mimicked my old JTM30!

Product Review My favorite Marshall tube combo of all time, was a 90’s short run series JTM30 combo with dual channels, vol/tone and reverb. It also had a speaker/simulator output. Such a warm, fluid tone, that had plenty of mojo and power for small gigs and rehearsals. I like the similarities of the Origin 20 watt combo and the aforementioned JTM30. Easy to haul, operate, and play great Blues and Rock at seedy gigs or more respectable establishments! I’m playing guitar for many years, and if you’re a Marshall amp fan, try this little “beast” out! You’ll be glad you did!

Product Review I've never even considered not having my souped up blues jr as my #1 amp..until now. I've played some amazing amps, (a princeton that I daydream about still) but when I cranked this amp it sent chills. Absolutely beautiful tone. The best my strat has ever sounded. Maybe the lollars, maybe the cali 76, but the combination through those 20 watts was inspiring. Thank you ams.

Product Review My second Marshall amplifier and my first tube amp. My new Marshall origin 20 amp sounds fantastic and handles the pedals really well. It has a more clear sound on the treble and high end than other amps I’ve had. I also like the way it works.

Product Review This is a great amp if live in an apartment, the low wattage options are a must have, sounds great clean so can run my pedal board thru it and not cause problems with the neighbors. I like the 20 watt option when I take it out to jam and it is very portable. I replaced the tubes but I always replace factory tubes. I will give the speaker time to break in before deciding if going to replace it or not, for now I have no problems with the way it sounds.

Classic Marshall Tone

Product Review This amp is a tone monster and gets better every day! First of all, this is not a face melting high gain amp, but that’s exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful clean and crunch tones and a great platform for all my pedals. I had some concerns about the 10” speaker but the larger cabinet really makes this sound big. For those who think this sounds a little thin, it’s designed to be cranked up. Once the gain and/or master are at 6+ the magic starts happening and the tone really fattens up. Only downfall is no onboard reverb, but again it’s designed for pedals so plug in your favorites and go to town. I would buy this amp again without hesitation.

Product Review Now that I've had this amp for several months I fell like I can write a proper review. As others have mentioned already, this is a low - mid gain Marshall (with the volume and/or pre-gain cranked.) This allows me to go from a clean Marshall tone all the way to 60's and 70's crunchy rock. I find the boost function mildly useful, mostly I leave it off. I am a home based player in a tiny suburban house and I have no problem getting it loud enough to crunch without annoying the wife or neighbors. All of the pedals I have used with this amp sound from good all the way to fantastic. I currently play a 2020 Gibson SG Jr with one or more of the following pedals: Xotic SL Drive, Range Blaster Treble Booster, Keeley Fuzz Bender, Keeley Super Phat Mod, or Timmy.

Product Review I had tube amps when I was a kid, and hesitated about buying a modern one. I ended up glad that I made the switch. This amp has a tone that a Code 50 just cannot duplicate. Right now I am using a Pocket Pod with it, and am very happy with the classic rock tones. And what power! For personal use, I have it set on low power with the volume set pretty low. I have not cranked it yet, but will be careful when I do. So far, I'm thrilled with it

Product Review This amp built like a tank and is great for at home practice as you change the wattage and get a nice plexi breakup sound at low volumes and it cleans up very nice. Takes pedals with ease. Small enough to carry without breaking your back. Tilt control is very usefull to darken up your sound. The clean with reverb ihas a great sound, almost like a Fender but slighty edged. Full gain is not the standard Marshall over compressed sound. You will need a pedal of choice to bump that up if desired, however I love the sound and the boost switch helps bring your leads to life.. Granted this not a $3000 Marshall, but its pretty darnn close and for the money a bargin. Dont delay buy today!

Product Review I love the Plexi sound the tilt is awesome you can blend the channels to your own sound crank the master and add whatever gain you need or not the tone controls easy and sensitive . takes pedal great . what a lot of people don't understand is that a new amp has to burn in or age a little before it starts to sound really good I've had this amp about 2 wks. and it just now starting like a Marshall should if you have never owned a older Marshall this you need to know my main rig is a '79 superlead I have had several other Plexi also enough said so crank it and enjoy your Marshall

Product Review This is by far one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard while plugged in straight without any effects. When you add effects through the loop it sounds great too. The tilt feature which allows you to go from Plexi to JTM is really cool and the gain boost is awesome.

Product Review First things first, this is not a high gain Marshall metal amp. It gets a little gain but has a great vintage amp sound. It's a great pedal platform and pairs nicely with my single coil guitars. I love the little bit of crunch I get out of it, and it loves TS9's and DS1's to get more gain. The power attenuator is perfect for home/apartment use. .05 watts can get plenty loud, but still quiet enough to play without waking a baby. The styling fits the amp perfectly. Classic sound with classic looks. Fit and finish are great and the build quality is top notch. 10" speaker sounds full and not boxy. I'm very happy with this amp!

Product Review All I can say is Wow! I expected ‘plexi-like’ but it’s impressive as to how well this little guy gets the job done. And I love the built in attenuator. I can crank it at a gig and practice at home. If you’re on the fence jump off and buy it! You’ll be pleased you did.

Product Review I really do enjoy this amplifier...only have two issues. 1. The mesh panel makes it hard to access the tubes. 2. When I turn the full power switch on I hear a buzzing sound when the volume is cranked up.

Product Review This amp is fantastic! Legendary Marshall tube tone in a combo amp with a great look. The power switch is perfect for practicing your chops in the bedroom while still retaining that legendary tone. The tone controls provide a lot of EQ flexibility, and the tilt knob lets you easily blend classic Plexi-style channels to your desire. Adjusting the Gain and Master knobs lets you balance your volume needs with your gritty needs, though this amp doesn't really get dirty. It's a GREAT pedal amp. I'm currently using a Boss Super Overdrive and a Walrus Audio Ironhorse Distortion pedal and getting all the tones I want. There's no reverb built-in, so a reverb pedal is on my shopping list next. I'm not regularly gigging, but I don't see why you couldn't gig with this amp. It gets plenty loud, it doesn't weigh a ton, and it's tone is incredible. For where I'm at and what I'm doing, I couldn't ask for a better amp.

Product Review I have been playing music since high school and at fifty three years old I still manage to squeeze in over one hundred gigs a year on top of my day job. This amp is something I have wanted for quite a while. Small package, low wattage with great tone, and both channels are amazing! The dirty channel has the sweet sound of the older Marshall amps, and the clean channel will absolutely surprise you, as it has all the twang and punch you would ever want when playing a Tele or Strat through it, and the boost switch puts your solos right out front. I like the 10 inch speaker, but I run it through a 2x12 cab for a bigger sound and it rivals my vintage JCM 800, minus the ear splitting volume of a 100 watt amp. If you are thinking about getting this amp,do it because you will not be disappointed.

Product Review For the wattage that it is for the money that it cost the tones that you can get from this amp or way better than the price point. If you want that vintage Plexi or Marshall bluesbreaker tone this is it. Put your pedals in front of it or run them through the effects Loop and you got all you need. Add a 12in you can play Anywhere with this amp

Product Review Ok I will keep this simple. First after 55 years of playing guitar and countless amplifiers it's amazing to me that I discover this particular amp so far down the road. 1) For a 20 watt combo amp this model delivers such a balanced tonal range in any of the clean modes. When you want pure valve breakup, you get it. Either with the boost switch or put it in the high power mode roll your guitar volume down to play clean and roll it up for sweet creamy pure overdrive. 2) Not very heavy in weight to carry around. 3) you can play about any venue with it. Bigger rooms, use the DI out in the back to feed the FOH board or your bands PA system. 4) Put it on a good amp stand that sits high enough to be near your head or torso and you can hear it fine even over a moderate playing drummer. 5) Small clubs or church gigs more than enough on it's own. 6) The Celestion V 10 speaker sounds real good out of the box, give it time to break in and it should be outstanding. Buy it you will not regret it

Product Review I love it! I’ve always wanted a JTM but couldn’t afford one. I really think Marshall done great job with these amps they sound amazing cranked and also make a great pedal platform I recommend the 20 for home use I have a friend who has the 50 he gig’d with it on the 1watt setting and was told he was to loud so definitely the 20 for home use how ever the 50 does have lil more head room for pedals

Product Review Wide range of sounds. Easy to operate. Bed room to small club level amp(without proper mic or DI usage/with proper usage I’d say it’s appropriate for any sized venue). Very impressed Marshall! The Origin Series is an incredibly versatile, and very “original plexi” sounding group of amplifiers. I love the Origin20 for its size and mobility.
