Product Review Sounds like you would expect an early Marshall head to sound but with the Tilt knob you have way more control of shaping your sound. Takes pedals extremely well and sounds best with it up loud but sounds surprisingly well on the lower wattage settings for playing at home. Great for 60-70s style music straight into the amp but with pedals you can definitely shape your sound however you like.

Product Review Love the sound, the low power switch works great, the setup takes pedals extremely well. I wish there was a resonance knob and the FX loop could be cleaner, not ideal when using a 4 cable setup like I do with my POD Go. Also wish there was a little more gain on tap without the pull switch, this amp is more Plexi than JMP.

Product Review I bought this head a few weeks ago during a secret sale. It wasn't a need but rather a want. It arrived to my doorstep within a day. Amazing customer service from AMS. Shipping time can make or break my purchase tbh. I did not realize there was only a clean channel or I would have gave it 5 stars. My mistake. I have 97 effects pedals so I actually wasn't to let down. I hooked it up to my Bugera cabinet, as my Marshall cab is only 4 ohms. This head has blown me away! It has a boost, built in attenuation, and a tilt feature. The tilt let's you blend the high end to your liking. It took me a minute to figure it out but this thing sounds like mothers milk in your ears. I am loving the sounds I can get from this head even through a "cheap" cabinet. It is a tube amp so beware of tube shortages. I have extras so doesn't matter to me at all. I would suggest anyone trying this head out, it will not disappoint after you dial it in. Buy from AMS and you even get free protection. I've payed alot on useless protection plans that should be free. The head looks very nice in my studio and I will be holding onto this one until it stops working or I die lol. Try it out, you won't be sorry for the price.

Product Review This amp is reminiscent of my old Plexi. Need to hit the front of the amp with distortion box I you wanna sound like Maiden. It reminds me of AC/DC [early] without the distortion box. Cranked, with the boost on.

Product Review I have several amps and this 50 watt origin is a gem. Just a great little amp. Seems well made. The sound is classic loud plexi style. With a Les Paul it slays. It’s not a modern metal Marshall head. It’s based on classic style Marshall’s. Not a whole lot of gain but plenty for me, and more with pedals. You have to play well. It forces you to play clean or you will hear it. That’s a good thing to me. This has to be the absolute best deal for a 50/watt Marshall. The stock tubes sound fine. However, I will play it a while check the bias and probably roll some different preamp tubes to see what affect they have. I recommend this amp. The power scaling feature is clever. Even on the lowest setting this is still a loud amp. I played it with a 2x12 cabinet loaded with greenbacks and it likes these speakers. Cant wait to put it through the 4x12. Overall I’m pleased. I hope it holds up and I see no reason it wouldn’t thus far but I just received it. Again I have other Marshall’s, custom point to pint hand wired amps, fenders, Vox etc, this is really a nice addition to my studio collection. Origin 50h rocks !

Product Review I've been through many Marshall's over the years, Plexi's DLS's, and just about everything in between and this delivers the goods in an affordable and easy to use package for any level of playing and whether low power at home and the biggest stage you can play out, it ROCKS!! When running it low/power and volume, all you need is a some type of clean boost like a Timmy to drive it to make it sound like its cranked, as most of the distortion with these style amps comes normally come from the power tubes. I couldn't be happier and recommend this amp highly!

Product Review This amp sounds amazing and for the price it can’t be beat. Fit and finish is great and the tone is amazing, not typical Marshall high gain more in line of the old JTM or plexis. Takes pedals really well too. It’s got plenty of volume too 50w tube is a lot and will keep up in any band setting (I usually run it on low or medium wattage.)

Product Review This is an incredible Plexi Tone for the money. Accurate for that nice classic rock sound, but where it boosts makes it so much more usable on stage or in studio. The power selector also helps in studio, and I don't have to compensate with my pedal board. It's just a hell of an amp. If you're looking for Plexi Tone with modern upgrades at a rock bottom tube amp price, pick one up. You won't regret it at all.

Owned for 2 months IT meets and exceeds my expectations. Super versatile and easy to move around. Sounds much bigger than it is. Fully capable gig rig. I guess you can say its simple smooth and and even better with your favorite pedals. This amp sounds as good at home in a studio as it does on a stage.

Product Review I've had the amp for 2 weeks. It is well-built, has classic Marshall looks and at $499 is a giveaway. This is not a high-gain amp -- it is meant to give classic Marshall tones. The cleans are excellent, and the overdrive is pure Marshall. If you want to play 70s Aerosmith, AC/DC, Free, Billy Squier, etc., this amp has you covered. It's also extremely loud. If you crank the gain and engage the pre boost, and put a Boss SD-1 in front of it you have 80s Metal that will put a smile on your face. This amp is fantastic. If you know what it's meant for and know how to use it, this is an amp you'll have and love for years.

Capable of chimney Low gain jtm sounding tones but also nasty marshall lead tones. With p90s and a bit of volume it screams. With my Tele it’s spanky and clean. Seriously couldn’t be happier. Product Review All my life I have wanted a Gibson Las Paul and a Marshall to run it thru. Well I had the Gibson (all be it a JR) I just needed the Marshall. I watched all the videos of all the Marshall's I could afford. DSL vs Origins, and for what I play and like it was Origins all the way. I go to the AMS web site to see what I was looking at price wise and if the 20 or the 50 watt was for me. I though the 20 watt was perfect for me but the 50 sounded better to me. I was so hyped I always wanted a marshall, so I tock the plunge and clicked on the 50. Man oh man did I pick a F ing fantastic amp. I am so happy. I had to get over the frist shock of how bright the amp was and turn the treble way down and the base up. Now all I want to do is play this amp all day. Thank you AMS for your fast shipping and wonderful customer service. I am in rock and roll heaven raising a bunch of hell.

Product Review It does a pretty good job at doing the Plexi thing. Right off the bat, if you like even a medium amount of gain, this is not the head for you. Sure you could use pedals, but I could never justify plugging into a glorious all-tube Marshall head, only to use a hundred-dollar solid state dirt box in front of it to get your core sound. With single coils its hard to get any fur at all in full power mode without keeping the master volume way down low. Humbuckers is a bit easier. Oh, and did I say this amp is LOUD! Much louder than my TSL 60 super lead, and louder than even my 100 watt MA-100 tube head. 10 watt mode can easily keep up with an average drummer. I have 3 4x12 1960 cabs with different speakers in each, and it sounds best thru a Vintage model 1960A with2 greenbacks and 2 vintage 30's. with this setup I can get some breakup albeit at gig volume levels. I also plan to get the 5 watt combo as I have tried it in Guitar Satan and I had a lot of fun with it.

Product Review Been wanting this amp since I saw it at Namm. The cleans are smooth mixed with the presence, eq, and Tilt knobs, The amount of sounds you can get out of this amp is amazing. This amp was built for pedals. OD/Distortion is a must for this amp. The stock gain leaves room for your choice of drive pedal. The effects loop is a much needed addition to marshall. It fits in nice with the pedals in front of the amp. The switchable 5/20/50 watt comes in extra handy for gigs or practices. All in all this amp is pure classic tone for a great price.

Product Review I have two Marshall JMP 50 watt master volume heads from the the late 70’s which his head is most similarly based off of. The Origin is crazy close to the sound of the JMPs. It may be a bit brighter and a touch less harmonically rich. Any guitarist may easily prefer the Orifin to the. Original. It is more reliable for gigs due to not being over 40 years old and the tilt circuit is very helpful for shaping tone. The addition of a boost and effects loop switchable from the pedal reheat is included makes it a more useable head than the original. Killer job Marshall! Great classic Marshall tone and super affordable. I would love to see a matching 2x12 cab in an old school basket weave with some cool speakers at an affordable price. I know, I’m getting greedy!

Product Review LOVE IT! No nonsense classic Marshall tone. I started at 1 watt, cranked the gain(pulled out knob) and Master all the way. 12 o clock on all the eq settings. I wanted to see what it was like before adding pedals. Using a Seymore Duncan LP instantly I wanted to play Sabbath,GNR, heavy 70s riffs, etc. Then rolling back my guitars volume a smidge it cleaned up to do some Zep, Hendrix, etc. This thing reminds me of an unmodded tamed down JCM 800. Add your favorite pedals and you can sculpt it to what you want. MARSHALL DID US A SOLID!!! Budget friendly, looks great, sounds great...only time will tell on how it holds up. I highly suggest this amp for anyone. If you dig Jake E Lees band Badlands or some fuzzy Fu Manchu, Trower, B.O.C, Zep, Hendrix, GNR, blues rock/hard rock..it can do it all....BUY IT!!

I switched out tubes because I was unhappy with the ones in the amp itself i have a pair of Siemens EL34 a- V1 and V3 are true CBS 7025s, and V2 is a Jan Philips 5751. In all im back in the 60s again . I have that Cream buzzsaw gain and that clean marshall tone . I cant tell you how this responds . I also have a JTM 45 and Now there close really close in sound , but the JTM is Loader, of course for triple the price its supposed to be . Overall great investment and if your handy you can take it to limit as i did . Thank You, American Musical and Marshall
