This is hands down one of the most enjoyable pieces of gear I have ever owned. I’ve owned multiple Moog products over the years, but this is my favorite. You can achieve such an array of sounds, not just kick drum...you get bass, hats, bloops, birds, noise, FM creeps.. endless fun.

This machine is convertible just like all the other Moogs. You can build drone tones, you can use the sequence not only for the typical drum beat, but I use the sequence to add a twist when creating sounds. Great combo with the 32 and Sub Harmonicon.

I needed a drum machine, but wanted something different. Something that kept a beat, but didn’t sound like wasn’t entirely 808. This was, and is, it.
If you’re looking for a typical 808, or something to add typical kick, snare, clap etc. You’ll likely be disappointed. This machine is meant to drive a beat in a whole different way. You can get kick and snare sound, but in ways that will bring unique sonic texture to your music. If you already have a drum machine, keep it and add this, because this really adds some life to creations no other machine can.
For a seasoned modular synthesis artist, you’ll love the versatility it brings to the eurorack. For the beginner who just wants to build a euro rack, this is a great start. Someone’s going to make a hit off this thing, definitely worth the try for you to be the first.

This is a great unit to lose yourself in... It's really fun to play with and produces many types of sounds in addition to the expected percussion noises. This is not a piece that I would use in the studio to write a "produced" track, however. It's more of a jam unit than a production-type drum machine (in my opinion). That being said, it is worth every penny to me. I wasn't sure what to expect, but with the name Moog stamped on it you can be sure it's good.

Place to start:
1. hook it up
2. start with one of the templates
3. start twisting knobs
4. forget about food
5. realize that you did not sleep all night and it is now time to go to work.
6. call boss feign sick
7. forget breakfast and lunch..
Ok joking aside. The bass in this thing is unreal.
The knobs are all tight and so are the connections.
It is the easiest thing I have ever gotten to get started on, but I can tell there is so much available with this thing that 10 years from now I will still be discovering new sound.
Within 10 minutes of having it plugged in I had already turned on my recorder and started laying down tracks with it.
If you are on the fence about getting one, just buy it. This is my first piece by Moog, but it definitely will not be my last. It is a solid tool and a great toy.

This was my first moog instrument purchase. I am very happy with the sound that this module makes. The interface is very fun to play around with. I can easily get lost discovering otherworldly soundscapes with it. It is supposed to be a drum machine but it is also a great oscillator. It can go places with other eurorack modules, but it is just as awesome by itself ! I have to say that there really is something about the moog sound. This one’s a keeper!

The moog dfam is a great addition to my studio. I've spent about 8 hours with this unit so I'm still learning. First off its great for percussion and drones, also random hits/stabs. The dfam also plays very well with the behringer neutron as well. Two things I wasn't excited about, fist which is not a big deal, but the cables that ship with the unit are very short. Second, there is no on off switch, I haven't read the manual, and I may be missing something, but I've been turning the unit on and off by plugging and unplugging. Otherwise a great out of the ordinary sounding synth. I'd definitely recommend it.

Mind blowing is the only thing i can think of. Just amazing how everything sounds. a very deep and hard hitting piece. When I do a lot of my concept albums I try to capture the essence using analogue for that big sound. This surpass my expectations and for the minimal investment you are getting a timeless piece that can really bend genres and separate your music from the rest of the pack.

The DFAM is a truly remarkable piece of gear. Above anything else, the sound is fantastic. You can get squeaky hissy to deep thunderous bass. The sequencer is superior to the Mother 32's in simplicity and design. I can't recommend this semi-modular enough.
