I had been trying to figure out the best midi keyboard for my setup. After disappointing results while using other keyboards, I decided to go with the Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2 since I was using the Maschine MK3! Have the LCD screens on both units makes it so easy navigating between the mixer, browser, and sample edit screens. I rarely have to look at my computer monitor. Was worth money! Especially at the sale price of $499!

The Komplete control S49 is an amazing piece of hardware that makes integration with the Native Instruments universe seamless. The display allows me to stay in workflow and not have to guess where I’m coming or question the parameter I’m adjusting. I never have to leave the window in my DAW! Outside of the universe, it’s just as awesome and customizable using the onboard midi mapping options. Highly recommend!

The most impressive thing about this keyboard is the high quality build for a synth action midi controller keyboard.
Over time there has been some impressive integrations with DAWs. So many others lose steam with the software support after the initial launch, but this has huge third party support and Bitwig are outstanding with it.
The only problem I have is that the VST that has to be loaded "in the middle" for full support can be finicky to configure and not all VST makers include the required NKI files, but that is actually improving slowly and there are 3rd party suppliers for this too.

The only REAL problems I've had came down to user error. Once I learned how to install the proper software, I've been absolutely thrilled with this device. It's responsive, the screens are great, and the ability to sample without loading instruments is a game changer.
If I had to say anything negative, it would be a Logic Pro X problem. When you're have to do more than 1 take to fix mistakes, then occasionally it loses its mapping (the colors of the keys all go to blue). But again, that seems to be a Logic problem.
It's the right size for what I need. I love it. And would recommend it to anyone.

My work flow is a bit more faster. I can use the transport buttons and mixing knobs to move the faders in the DAW. I thought I was buying this for my Native Instruments products and use with my Machine. To have this as a DAW controller gave me more than I paid for. When you ever get a chance to get your hands on a “Komplete Kontrol”, go for it! The name speaks for itself.

To be honest I don’t know why I didn’t get this a long time ago. This is the perfect keyboard. Easy to setup just plug and play. It’s compatible with all daws. I like the way you can bounce between instances of Maschine and Komplete kontrol and still be able to use it for a mixer in the daw.

This controller rocks! Quality and features are amazing. Keys are weighted and action is better than I have seen with other NI keyboards. Definitely improved! Would highly recommend it!
Not to mention, the service and payment options from AMS made this purchase possible! If you want me to be honest, I’m trying to rebuild my credit and others have turned me down. AMS made it possible and I’m grateful to be able to get the gear that I want!

I am no pianist by any stretch of the imagination and that is why this controller is so awesome! First of all, the build is solid and I love how the screens give me quick and deep access to my project without having to look at my computer screen. Another plus is how bright the screens are and how they work in tandem with my Maschine Studio so I have 16 channels in my mixer when I’m dealing in the maschine software rather than the 8 that I’m limited to on my Maschine’s dual screens. Secondly it’s Scale and Arp features allow me sketch out complex chords and melodies without having to be a master pianist. My music has grown so much because of this keyboard and i think that it will be a long time before I trade up both my Komplete Kontrol MK2 49 and Maschine Studio!!!! My setup is now complete and now my Maschine is no longer lonely ??

I had a chance to pick up Native Instrument's Komplete Kontrol S49 keyboard last month. Over the years I've used many different types of keyboards including M-audio and Akai keyboards. Native Instruments definitely made my production superior with many free soft synthesizers and two awesome well lit LCD onboards screens. The screens allowed me to use logic Pro and view the mixer for easy volume control edits. With the included soft synths, finding a synthesizer patch was easy and allowed me to quickly navigate through different sounds to find the appropriate one to fit my projects. With this type of "Kontrol", I was able to complete a whole album in a matter of weeks. The 49 keys feel very good to the touch and the jog wheels feel sturdy and very professionally well-made. I highly recommend this keyboard for any major home production studio. American Musical Supply has always fit my needs in the past and I'm happy to be a customer to a company that provides great customer service and products.

NI went in on this Kontrol Keyboard for the most part. I wish they made it easier to move around from non NI vst's into NI. Make sure you play around with one before you drop the loot just to make sure it's best for you. If you keep it NI, it's amazing

The S49 MK2 has seriously proven itself to be an incredible addition to my studio. It has improved my workflow tremendously, as it allows me to browse through, hear previews for, and ultimately find the sounds I'm looking for in my ridiculously vast library of sounds and instruments right from the keyboard itself in about a quarter of the time it would normally take to find what I'm looking for. That's incredibly important for anyone looking to maximize the efficiency of their sessions in the studio, as well as anyone looking to ride that creativity wave immediately when it hits without the time delays that usually accompany the search through a vast library of endless sounds looking for that sound you hear in your head at that moment. This keyboard is the secret sauce to increasing workflow when creating music. The sound banks are great but the main sticking point for me are the scale and arp modes. You don’t have to be a music theory wiz to create music since this helps with chord structure and staying in key. Absolutely love this thing!

The s49 MK2 is a very amazing product. Native Instruments has created their own League with this keyboard controller. Before purchasing this product I did my research,and fell in love with it's Quicken access to instruments preview and how easy it was to maneuver through your projects. It makes creating a lot easier. I will say with Native Instruments s49 MK2 your creativity is Limitless.

Whether you're a novice or a stone cold pro with the keys, this thing is excellent. Especially when paired with the Maschine software! The scale and chord modes make laying down perfect orchestration a breeze and the fact that NKS is widely used makes finding suitable patches and tweaking them quickly ridiculously easy. Additionally tutorials are readily available through Native Instruments website and YouTube so picking up the intricacies isn't a stretch for anyone.

Excellent product in every way. But after going over the specs and comparing to the a series. The a series just has a lot of the important features to me like amazing integration with logic. Things like the light guide, and dual screens are a good touch. But not worth the money to me. I’m giving 4 stars however because it is an amazing product, but only if you wanna spoil yourself or your living comes completely from music.

Native Instruments has done it again. Simply put, the hardware, the software, the sounds! Wow! Perfect integration with my Ableton Live 10 with ZERO mapping! Keys are nice and heavy. Proper Jog wheels. We have only started to break the surface and have already used in our productions. For the money, you cannot beat it. Plus the little goodies are cool too like 25.00 gift certificate from Native Instruments and all the free sounds. Tutorials easy to find online and most importantly, keyboard comes with a one page printable cheat sheet for multiple daws that comes in handy as you start to navigate it. Buy it now!

The Komplete Kontrol S49 ,I purchased from American Musical Supply has literally changed my life. The S49 is an intuitive midi keyboard with the feel ,response , and touch sensitivity you’d find on a much more expensive keyboard. It offers all of the features you’d expect from a top of line midi instrument. However Native Instruments known for reinventing industry standard equipment. Takes the concept of midi keyboard a step further with touch strips, on-board VST browsing, and light guide scale tutor. The keyboard like most N.I products is not cheap however AMS made this a non issue with their convenient payment plan options. I am able to create more efficiently and effectively , because of N.I but more importantly AMS.

This is the best midi keyboard on the market, especially if you are a native maschine user. I love the way you can switch to the scale of key you want to play if you really don't know how to play but this sure has helped my skills a lot. The two display screens are great looking and you don't even need to look at your computer monitor for arranging you song sequence, I only use it to choose third party vsts. If you are second guessing yourself on purchasing this don't! Buy it!!

Yes, it needs a USB connection to your computer running the NI software. Now that we're past that, this is a miracle keyboard. Quality. Function. Capability. It has it all. And the marriage to the Komplete software is... well, amazing. I'll be playing with this thing for years before I discover all it has to offer. The graphic interface makes finding what you need so easy. I could go on and on, but I don't want to sound like an advertisement for Native Instruments. I'm just a very happy customer that finds this particular device my ideal keyboard instrument.

Setup of all the software and hardware was a breeze on my Mac. The integration with Logic Pro X is amazing. I love that I can do lots of things without using the mouse or keyboard. It has improved my workflow greatly. The ability to preview sounds is great for picking sides merging that’ll work in any composition. American Musical was great with fast shipping and hassle free checkout!

First, it's built like a tank. Good heft to it and everything you touch feels like quality. The functionality does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. There could be some additions to the physical keyboard, but that's true of anything if you go looking to quibble. Overall I think you really do get what you pay for with the S49.

I'd been using an M-Audio keyboard forever. I felt great and wouldn't die so why bother replacing it? Then I started reading about about the features of the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 Mk2. It almost sounded too good to be true. After extensive research I finally pulled the trigger. Man this thing is great! It feels good, and because of the way it talks to Komplete Ultimate 11, I can fly through sounds to find the right one quickly. You can make adjustments and fine tune sounds right from the keyboard, access menus that were once only on the computer and you can even select your project key so you never hit a bit note. I waited a long time to upgrade and the Mk2 was definitely worth the wait.
