I was sceptical at first.. I mean what can you do with 2 eq knobs..lol. Damn this amp is so loud it really quite impressive. I ran my Darkglass pedals through this and with the 8x10 cab this thing can sound so mean and evil.. I highly recommend especially if your sound comes from the pedal board. All my other amp heads color the sound too much. This is so punchy it about knocked me over.

I bought this unit about a week ago. I finally got to gig with it last night. I'm in a rock cover band with two guitars and a drummer that uses clubs for sticks! I had initially bought a different head but was still getting lost in the mix. I ran this with the gain on 6 and master volume set just under the 160 watt indicater. I play a Music Man bass with active p-ups. I plugged into the active input for the 10 db cut. Were a high-energy band and often we all leave the stage with out wireless connections and get down onto the dance floor with the patrons.I made my way to the back of the club and never last my sound in the mix. This thing is an absolute powerhouse! Buy it. You'll love it. I play through two Ampeg cabs rated 450/8 or 800/4. Never even challenged them with high demand.

My main basses are two Zon Legacy basses (Set in and bolt on necks). I tried every combination with the untraditional settings on the amp, but after three gigs, I gave up.
Maybe it's the cabinet (Avatar with 2 Neo 10s), but I'm used to plugging in and playing with minimal fuss. My other head is a Warwick LWA-1000, and I have no problem dialing in a pleasing tone with that. Also have no problems with my old SWR combos. Returned unit after two weeks of gigs.

The quilter bass block packs a punch..it has direct out and in also two 1/4 inch output to speakers and a speakon out as well..which I have tried yet but gives me reason to buy a new speaker...has adjustable wattage control ranging from 0-800watts...the eq is relatively simple only two controls for one control low/low sweep..second one mid scoop or treble boost...it has some snap which I like...the power adapter has a lock in mechanism to keep it plugged in for those pesky drummers rummaging around on stage

If you don’t need boost/cut switches,and don’t mind an unconventional eq system,this is a powerful and lightweight choice for bass amplification. The eq will not be for everyone,but it happens to suit my Alembic and I perfectly-it’s my new go-to gigging amp!

I've been playing bass for over 35 years. Having owned heads from many of the top named makers, I can honestly say this little guy is right there with them. The controls are simple, but versatile. Dialing in the perfect tone is easy. Set it and forget it..seriously. As for power, you'll be amazed. I mostly play medium sized venues and some outdoor as well. I've never turned the gain past 3-4 and the wattage stays at around 400 running through a single GK Neo 4x10. It stays cool and doesn't lose tone when pushed like other heads often do. The mute switch, headphone out, passive/active inputs are nice features and it can also double as a standalone DI if needed. It comes with an extra long, sturdy, locking power cable and well padded bag, or just put it in your gig bag (it's that small). If you're looking for something that's powerful, easy to carry and versatile, get the Quilter Bass Block 800 from AMS. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! It's truly amazing!

Worth every penny. Set everything at noon and go from there. If you have a great bass this just makes your bass louder. It has somewhat of a tube like tone in that it’s just pure power. Sounds great with all of my Basses and into any cab. I have some really nice amps that this was supposed to be the backup for but it quickly became my main amp. Love it!

This head is great! The EQ sweeps in all the right spots, and it has a ton of power to boot. Punchy AND warm low end!
I'm also glad that I don't have to figure out cab ohms, and it is just ALWAYS 800 watts. No more math!

Legit 800 watts and weighs only 3.7#. Carrying case is cool.
Very easy to operate. Doesn't have the standard EQ, which is refreshing.
Very impressed with the master volume, with watts shown on the dial. Very intelligent design.
Only thing that didn't suit me was that it could use a bit of grind. This head would be excellent for anything that isn't overdriven.
Price is in line with other heads of this type.
