Product Review The accessories are a nice little touch, but even by itself, the microphone itself is a masterpiece. It has worked flawlessly and whether recording vocals or instrumentals, I can always rely on it to perform to my standards.

Product Review Very good and versatile microphone to have in any recording studio. The multi-function buttons in the mic are very helpful and works really good. Build like a tank and looks very professional and good. The audio quality is A+ clear and transparent sound. Highly recommended.

Product Review Where do I start... This mic blew all of my expectations out of the water. I previously owned a Blue Bluebird SL and the clarity was no match for the Rode NT2A. The switches on the body help save time with mixing and include a diagram for what settings are appropriate for which type of recording/tracking.

Phenomenal condenser vocal mic for higher registers

Product Review While this microphone is amazingly versatile, it shines with Acoustics and Vocals. Most of all adding bright tones and complimenting higher register vocalists. AMS delivered fast and efficient. Coupled with the option of easy payments, this is a wonderful deal. Nothing but praises here!

Product Review I use a pair of NT 2A mics for recording small string ensembles in relatively good acoustic environs... They perform well in Figure 8 and Omni, which is how they are used mostly...

Your general opinion of this product. This is my desert island mic. It is the cornerstone of my commercial recording studio. It is extremely quiet, sensitive and has an incredibly realistic, transparent sound. It therefore takes EQ very well. It is exceptionally versatile, working well on many vocalists, toms, horns, guitar cabinets, cellos, violins, you name it. It is even credible on applications that are usually assigned to small diaphragm condensers, like acoustic guitar and percussion. I have used it to record choirs and orchestras and other stereo pair acoustic applications with great success. Own at least two of these, so you can use them as a stereo pair. Yes. Never had a problem with one. Easy to use. The sound. It's sound is extremely true and transparent with good transient response and very low self noise. Extremely natural.

Sibilance, sibilance, sibilance

I didn't get that intimate sound I like from this mic and the sibilance is off the hook EEK! But maybe I just depends on the voice type and the preamp, I used a Mackie with XDR Mic Preamps. I also had a Neumann TLM-103 before this mic and it sound excellent with the Mackie preamps. Features are pretty good. Very easy to use, no complaints on that end. This mic sound terrible, maybe it depends on your voice type, this mic has a mondo sibilance, I tried everything to try to get this mic to sound decent. This is definitely not a mic for female vocalist.

The first thing I noticed when I unpacked the mic is how heavy it was! Seriously it's built like a tank! The polarity and pad buttons feel sturdy and overall it's pretty impressive for such an inexpensive mic. I expect it will last me a long time with normal use. The switchable polar patterns at this price point are great. I am very happy with the rear/side rejection on the cardioid setting. The omni is ok, but my personal favorite is the figure 8. It really opens up the room without muddiness and gives you that little bit of natural space to work with. On our male vocalists it was easy to mix. It sat nice and forward in the mix and I barely touched the EQ. I was just using the pre's on my Allen & Heath desk, but I'm confident that this mic will really shine with a sweet pre. This is a good mic for dudes. We used it on both male vocals and rap, and female vocals, and ended up switching her to a different mic. It was a little too beefy in the 1k-2k range for our r&b alto chick. No worries, it sounded fabulous on our guys. Rode seems to give this one a very slight touch of that mid range warmth, but without all the zingy presence that many other low priced mics have. I have used the Rode NTK before and liked it, but it was more of a specialty mic because it can add too much character (think vintage-ish sound). The NT2A however, is TOTALLY different and a better all around mic because it has just a very small touch of that saturated type sound. I really like having this mic around and I would definitely recommend picking one up! It has the sound and functions of ones that cost 2x as much as it does. And Rode gives you a 10 year warranty, like really, that's cool.
