Loving this product so far! I’ve had it for about a month almos. This controller has great features like key lock,sampler, hot cues, and loop pad and are accessible easily! This is great for beginner DJ’s or DJ’s that are lady like me and have multiple controllers and hate taking one up and down for practice! I really think you should try this out

First off this controller just looks dope. Then when I got it in my hands I realized it feels just as good as it looks. The buttons, knobs and sliders are firm and well built. The board is light weight but feels tough and sturdy like metal. Setup was easy and it comes loaded with serato lite and extended free trials of bpm supreme and Roland live training. For the price I think it’s a no brainer. I’m so excited to learn this piece of equipment and I am already recommending this to anyone looking to start djing!

This DJ controller is a really great especially for first time users who have absolutely no idea of how to DJ. Love the fact you can register to take DJ classes & it gives you a 30day free trail to download music for free. I would suggest this equipment for one just starting out like myself.

Roland have really done some awesome things with all their instruments and their products, but they really outdone themselves by taking DJ equipment to a whole new level with the new Roland DJ-202. The first time I saw it displayed online, I really wanted it, and I also wanted to be one of the first to try something new and different! I’m truly confident that this device is just as great as the instruments are along with all their products! Plus I’m a witness to owning a keyboard with them along with a keyboard amp!

I remember the first time I saw the preview of the Roland DJ-808 and I thought "I would kill to have the TR-808 and 909 sounds built into a controller!", but the 808 was WAY out of my skill set and price range. The DJ-202 was the answer!
First, if you're in the US, make sure you get the free upgrade to Serato DJ Pro as it unlocks a lot of the power of the controller. Given that the license is worth about $150 as it is, you can see how much better of a deal this thing is.
I would love to say I've mastered the sequencer and that I'm making incredible redrums at this point, but after 2 weeks, I'm not there. I will agree with other reviews that say the sequencer interface isn't as easy to use on the 202 as it is on the 505 or 808, because it's not dedicated and you have to reuse the performance pads. But the sounds are there, the syncing is there, and they sound perfect.
The controller itself is as good as (if not better than) all of the other entry level controllers out there (i.e. DDJ-400, MixTrack Pro, etc.). Yes, it's plastic. Yes it only has RCA outs, but that's de rigeur for all starter controllers.
Moving from a Behringer CMD Studio 4A has been a bet of a revelation. The 4A was solid and great, but really lacking when it came to performance. This has opened up doors for creativity while performing. I love it!

Bought this almost 10 months ago. I've loved DJ'ing since I was a kid (80s) and always wanted some Technic 1200s and a mixer. But for whatever reason that never happened (yet) I decided to get something lower priced to test the waters before I drop 3k on 2 1200s and a Rane mixer.
This is GREAT for the price.
1. it comes with a full version of Serato DJ Pro, no Serato video, flip or all the FX's. But it's a good upgrade over the non Pro version.
2. The platters are good sized, nowhere near the size of 12" vinyl, but still bigger than a lot of controllers.
3. platters feel surprisingly good, especially considering the low price of this unit.
4. Fader's pretty good, it's not flimsly and it moves smooth.
5. The Roland Drum Kits are actually fun, The 808 model has an actual 16 step sequencer. But, once you get the controls down here. You can bang out some great beats using the 8 pads, well 16 since there's a right and left set. This is legit cool, and I don't think any other DJ controller on the market has anything like this.
6. The buttons are laid out well and things are intuitively. While I have played with a few friends 1200 s setup a few times. I don't know jack about DJ'ing and had never used Serato before this. While there was a learning curve, it didn't take too for things to start to feel natural.
7. Build qualities good, far better than I would expect for $299 - with a full version of Serato Pro. It's a lot of plastic but doesn't feel cheap to me/
This isn't a perfect unit, but I think for the price anything I feel it's missing can't be dinged by me because it's not a high end, or even a mid level unit. The 808 has things I wish this did, but at 4x the price I can't be mad at what's not here.
I know a lot of DJ's swear by Pioneer. I'd recommend this unit to someone who's on a budget and wants to get into DJ'ing in a heartbeat. You really can do a lot with it.

I use to Dj on the early 80s I'm old school like the feel of vinyl, but want to try the new digital form this is the product for you. At this price point there is nothing on the market that offers soo many feature. American Music made it simple with the no credit check and easy monthly payments. This controller does everything you need it to do in a compact form factor. Anyone from a beginner to a pro will find this controller to be very versatile. The only issue with the controller is figuring out the manual drum and sound effects.
It is not readily apparent how to activate them, as they are under a certain combination of button presses in order to use them. I consider it a minor detail, because once you figure out the method for bringing them to the forefront, it's second nature and takes only a second to get them going. Most controllers will have a dedicated button to bring you to them, while this uses a shift button along with a couple of button presses to bring them out. It sounds more difficult than it actually is.
Obviously this is due to them trying to pack every feature they could into such a compact controller that can do pro level stuff. There is no lag that I experienced with the jog wheels, and they respond on a dime. The faders have a shorter range than higher level controllers, but it's to be expected at this price point and with all that they managed to pack into this device. All in all, an excellent controller for the price, and comes with the full version of Serato DJ Pro. At least mine did. So factoring all of that in, it's an excellent controller by Roland. Just be sure to have a good USB cable, as the one it comes with can get skectchy. Once I swapped out the included USB cable with a good heavy duty one, there has been no issues since. Highly recommended.

Out of the box it was very user friendly.. I will admit that some of the instructions could be a bit more transparent in the actual manual itself, however, there are more than a few YouTube videos that get you exactly where you need to be!... Solid construction and it feels much more of a quality controller and not so much an entry level product.
I would feel comfortable taking this out and working with it.

After a few months I'm pretty happy with it. The jog wheels feel great and mapping into various programs has given me no trouble, the sequencer is great and adds a lot of potential. I have a TouvhOSC template on my phone above the controller with some extra controls for the FX, kil switches and auto fader cutting and its a lot of fun. I have used most of the lower priced control surfaces and I do believe this is my favorite. Great Job Roland you guys always bring quality and you can tell how much you enjoy what you do, it's always fun.

i dont like that fact that the mixer volume lowers when you are in the middle of the mixer..the volume of each side should remain at set level not get lower.. when scratching you can hear the other side volume go down when the fader is in the middle..it increases when the fader is far left or far right... to a mixing dj that sucks

I recently got into Djing, this product was the first piece of equipment I ever owned and I love it. It has a layout which I felt really comfortable with, I quickly got use to it and can practice fundamentals with options to do more with the built in beat patterns it offers.
