I believe the only thing this keyboard is not suitable for is a beginning Student..!! I've owned many Roland products over the years. The last Roland keyboard I bought is 30 years old and I still have it and play it today..!! It's much simpler than the Juno DS but it has served me very well, Indeed..!! The Roland Juno DS is much more than your average synth keyboard..!! It's a mega computer unto itself, in that it is able to play up to 16 layers of sound in real time, record and mix/process live audio thru an independent mic input, connect to a computer easily and become a MIDI controller, sequence patterns, split the keyboard, and transpose from any key to any key, to name a few of it's capabilities..!! I may have left out some of it's talents..!! In a Word, what comes to mind, is "Creativity" abounds at your service in this affordable piece of Gear..!! Suffice it to say there is a learning curve to be expected even for the veteran musician, but the Roland tutorials on YouTube are very helpful, Indeed..!! Now excuse me, but, I'm back to studying my new Roland JUNO DS..!!

I tour with a multi-keyboard setup but needed a keyboard with onboard sounds for quick small performances where I don't need a lot of gear like control keyboards and rack mounted sound modules.
I researched the features before buying and it had the sound palette I needed to give me specific sound I use a lot in one unit. I especially like the audio file launch feature.
Note: The audio file playback feature is MP3 only (320k) which in live situations for me is fine.
It will however take higher res WAVs for samples (only).

This keyboard had all the great features we wanted and needed. Sequencer, looping, and a vocoder to boot! We were able to download thousands of additional sounds and patches. Has nice action and touch sensitivity and great features like analog like controls. This was perfect for our needs both live and in studio. I love it as much as my first Juno back in the 90’s.

The Roland Juno-DS is the keyboard that's great all around rather if your doing a gig on stage, Church or at home making music. One of the features I love is the sequencer if I need a drum pattern or a melody I can record in as a loop and play it in as well as adjust sounds on the fly. As far as sounds go you have everything from Pianos,String,Bells,Orgnas,Brass,Synths,Drum Percussion Samples, Orchestra and Vocal Pads, You name it its there and for all genres of music. Also if your into producing on the pc using a DAW rather its FL Studio, Ableton, Logic or ProTools this is the perfect setup so you have options. I would highly recommend this product as I love everything about the keyboard!

Im a roland produck owner for almost 20 years now I have the Roland Fantom x6. the Juno is alot like it with a new age feel i enjoy the super chord function especially when im sound designing. I would recommend this to anyone who are looking for a great keyboard and budget friendly. You cant go wrong for a mid level keyboard.

Let’s just say this. If you own a Roland 1080,2080,3080,5080 XP30, 50, 60, 80 You have 90% of the sounds in this board.
Outside of the Acoustic Pianos and Synth Leads this board is a complete and utter waste of money.
It takes 8AA Batteries! Batteries? Batteries no thanks I’m good.
The keys feel hella weird, and not very fluid
I own several Roland Products: 3080, XP60 and Fantom A6 all of which are just as good as this here for what you’re getting.
If you just need a decent board with some okay sounds, then okay this will do. However if you’re a professional serious musician don’t waste your time.
They should’ve made this unit with better sounds and offered the XP series sounds as an Xpansion card.
This has been Rolands MO for the last few boards they just add a few new sounds to the XP series keyboard sounds, and charge you new money for it. No thanks I’ll MIDI Mainstage and Keyscape or even VIP by AKAI.

I am an intermediate/beginner on keys but have played everything from Upright pianos to $50 garage sale keyboards. This was my first professional Synthesizer and the performance is UNBELIEVABLE. So impressed with this Roland keyboard, especially at this price point. It comes with amazing sounds AND the ability to download even more from the Roland website makes this keyboard an absolute steal. Ive had a lot of boards through the years but this one is the best and most inspiring so far. I had to have all black keys so i took a chance and bought it. There are tons of sounds to choose from, on board assignable pads, vocorder that rocks everything from Kraftwerk to Phil Collins "in the air tonight" My kids have been on it more than me and I havent even read the manual yet. If youre looking at this and looking at your outdated about to die old board, dont hesitate to buy it. No regrets

The Juno DS61 is an awesome music machine! It has great preloaded sounds, is capable of creating beats and is great for the traveling musician. I bought this about a month ago I have only scratched the surface with the possibilities this keyboard is capable of. The one thing I wish it had was weighted keys, they are available in the 88 key option but I wanted a smaller more portable keyboard. The limited edition all black key version really stands out and looks great. You can’t go wrong with this baby.

Loaded with a huge mixture of sounds,extremely simple to navigate to get the sounds you want,has a feature called 'super layer' that enhances every sound in the memory i bought the EV-10 expression pedal and the sustain pedal to go with the keyboard. I have mine midi'd into my DAW as well as direct plug in to a Marshall 400 watt bass amp even on a lower setting you have to turn around and look to be sure there isnt a drummer sitting there playing its so real its amazing the keyboard has a few sounds that i have never heard in a keyboard before its an amazing instrument a very basic design and appearance but it packs a serious wallop buy one you wont be disappointed

I purchased this to use as a controller and to add an occasional string or synth sound to tracks and it’s great for my purposes. I’m not a serious keyboard player so wether this is a good stand alone instrument may be beyond my abilities to comment but as a guitarist in need of some sounds and flexibility I would say this machine is great! Built well, good interface and plays well with my Mac and Logic Pro. I would recommend this product.

Bought keyboard to play in small church. Love the sounds... even piano pad sounds good. It's super light so I can take back and forth plus really easy to figure out. Like this so much better than the $3k Korg I used to have. Keys are not weighted much but that's okay with me. Great buy for the money.

After i decided on my item,Making the purchase online was a breeze. The Juno ds61 keyboard was delivered to my home in 2 days and i have no complaints. The juno ds61 has hundreds on snyth sounds,Piano, Percussion, Orchestral and Many Other sounds from the Roland Juno series.This keyboard comes with 61 velocity sensitive keys,But if you prefer semi weighted keys the Juno ds88 is available. Roland Juno DS60 is amazing keyboard that I had in my life. I am extremely impressed with the quality and quantity of sounds this thing is capable of. I purchased my new synth to add textures to my recorded music, strings and other sounds, and this thing totally delivers. I love it!!!
As a bonus, my daughter has joined the band at school and is using the synth to learn how to read music, which is perfect for her, as she is playing xylophone. Win win!!!
The only negative issue is the difference in volume from one patch to the next, but that is an adjustable parameter and will not hold me back. Overall, the strings and orchestra patches sound so real, it’s like being at the symphony hall.
I have always known that Roland was a leader in synth sound technology, and with the Juno DS61 they have winner.

A lot of cool features such as the sample play of each patch so you can get a cool preview of the sounds, Modes for DAW Control which had the DAW that I use, Sounds are compatible to some of the more expensive Synths and Pattern Sequence feature is cool too! I use to own a Roland XP50 and it highly amazed me that some of the sounds from it are in the Juno DS.

I bought it as my main keyboard, but will be returning, the only reason being that the 8 bars only, loop pattern sequencer doesn't fit my needs. I would keep it, if not for that. Keeping my tradition of owning Roland keyboards, since the 80's I'll be ordering the FA06, instead.

It's a Roland Product, it does what they say it would. I needed the collection of sounds in my studio old school and new. The DS 61 gives me what I need to complete my projects and stay up to date sound wise. AMS is the best, they took care of me and I received my purchase in 3 days as promised.Satisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS. my first studio Keyboard was a Juno 6 back in the day.

The Roland quality is always levels above the rest. The physical quality of the feel of the keyboard is amazing! The sounds are the best, the options are amazing and the ability to edit everything is also amazing. I can stack, split, record, save, edit, import, export, sample and explore my way through hundreds upon hundreds of tones. Absolutely amazing!

I wish the Orchestra Percussion was better - at least as good as my old JV-80. The combination of more voices gives it much more versatility than older models.

I am a long time bass player who wanted to play some keyboards in my band. I looked at every under $1000 Keyboard out there. After trying all of them I decided on the Roland DS61. I'm really glad I did. Its sounds are great and most are very useable in a band situation. The only problem I had was also a great help. The Roland tutorials were a great help. But it took me a while to be able to use them, because the tutorials are with an older version of the firmware. So they kept referring to a screen that my DS did not bring up. Once I finally figured that out, the tutorials were a huge help. In short, a really fun piece of hardware I can't wait to start gigging with.
